in the true ending of j1 the princess gives birth to a pino incarnate do you get to see pino in this game [pino is the name of the robot in j1] [Scratch that not robot gijin]
Due to compression, most N64 translaations are emulator graphic hacks. Because this game does not run properly on any emulator, the author has been working on a traditional patch. He has provided me with a pre-release patch to test on my real N64 using development hardware and a cartridge I found at a flea market, so I will try to record a video reply with the English introduction.
Yes, now there is. Ryu just released it this month. I was posting with my twin brother's account when I made that reply video and comment months ago. I'm shocked that more videos haven't been showing up now on YouTube. Oh well. Perhaps I'll get around to running the final patch sometime soon and I'll make some vids of that.
...Geppetto. :( After just finishing up a let's play project of the original, seeing this makes me sad that the sequel hasn't seen any sort of translation yet.
Two things stood out in stark contrast: The original had scrolling areas and more special effects (ie, sprite reflection in a puddle) not present in the N64 sequel because of limitations when dealing with 3D-mapped 2D images... notice the strange texture seems and tearing during 2D cinematics with zooming. They could have done it, but it would have ruined the beautiful art. Of course, the N64 game has much more animation and is the all-around better game even without the 3D segments.
Should have been released in the United States.:<

You can also hear that ocarina song in the first game sung by the main character later on after you teach him.

I wonder if anyone translated it (with a ROM patch). The first game was awesome.

It hasn't? You, sir, have no reason to be sad because you are wrong in your assumptions!
It was the very first search result on Google when searching for the obvious "Wonder Project J2 translation."

Maybe it was never released in the U.S. because it's an inferior sequel. I might still play it on an emulator with good fast-forwarding.
Erudecorp 4 years ago
Wonder Project J2 doesn't look that inferior because its one of those few N64 RPGs and this game has neat cutscenes.

Thank you so much for posting this! I've played WPJ, but I've never had a chance to play J2. Josette makes me think of Studio Ghibli... :3

This point-and-click like the last one?
agentclank 4 years ago
Yes, and it's much better with an analog stick. Also, you can mostly play it with one hand thanks to the N64 controller design.

This needs to be translated into english and released on the VC!
