I've been practicing aikido for about ten years now and I can tell you this: if you practice any kind of MA to see if they work in a street fight let me save you some time, IT DOESN'T. none of them work against 10 drunk motherfuckas with 9mm so don't fight!! that's it jus don't fight. Aikido isn't about fighting at all, it's about life and discipline.

Anyway if this mma can fight standing on the wall like that maybe I need to reconsider 'bout aikido...

Aikidoka truly know fighting is a last resort unlike those McDojos that go "This is a last result, now lets learn to beat up your school bully!". Also more than a few guys have run away when the person they're about to beat on goes into a relaxed fighting pose. Not tensing up and roaring for a fight freaks a lot of people out. Plus if they do happen, they shouldn't last more than a second lol

wow i never said MMA is the best its up to the fighter, but from personal experience: yes MMA gives you better tools to use than traditional MA. Modern UFC fighters would switch and use Karate, Kung Fu, and Aikido...if it was more effective....they dont...why? because Martail arts lack key factors (ground game, the standup game, clinch)....MMA is not a STYLE!!! like the name refers we do all the MA. the only diffrence bieng we compliment all aspects of fighting. That is what makes us better!

yes we did some of those i mixed in some other techniques nopt of aikido because my sensei dosnt care to much if we mix a few moves but only if the time calls for it but once i get people on the ground its hard for them to get back up i either have to let go or they have to go threw a lot of pain to get up. :) and tysm i will continue to train to my fullest.

Judo is some wat limited as far as submissions go there are things in bjj u wont see in judo. ultimately it instils different mindsets in a fighter. i do think judo is a great foundation for grappling ad is complemented well with bjj.
