I remember seeing Schaffer the Darklord, ytcracker, and MC Lars last year at Subterranean in Chicago and they did this song. Was amazing. I wish STD and ytcracker were coming out with Lars and mc chris again this year.
Ok first off im a huge fan of Bruce Campbell and nerd rap, but i dont know, I dont think this song does The greatest actor of all time justice. But props on doing a song about him, im pretty sure its the only one ive ever heard.
@poptartmon I see a ton of them in the related videos. Check ytcracker . com, too. His free shit is really good. I haven't listened to much of the payed stuff.
@SneakyGeeky MC Lars to my knowledge has never claimed to be Nerdcore. His official genre he adheres to his the one he created called 'post punk laptop rap' he just collabs with a lot of nerdcore artists. I don't see anything wrong with that.. Besides his flow is dope.
@thevintagebow That's fair, but he's had a few interviews where he's been quoted as saying things like "The whole 'nerd' thing is just an image", etc. Kind of a slap in the face to all the Nerdcore artists who work their asses off and do this shit for free, because they love it. And on a purely opinion note, I just think there are better MCs in the genre anyway.
@SneakyGeeky not entirely free, I mean merch, some people do buy cds (as easy as just stealing it would be) going to thier shows. I mean, I do agree to the fact that they are more apt to do this because they love it and the loyalty of the fans. Nerdcore fans are so loyal to the genre. I recently watched an interview where Lars explained that he wasn't really hating on the genre or something, I honestly dont remember exactly what it said.
@thevintagebow Ah well, to each their own, I suppose. I still think Schaffer the Darklord and YTCracker had stronger flows anyway. Point is, be it Nerdcore or 'post punk laptop rap', this shit is so superior to mainstream hip-hop.
@SneakyGeeky I dont necessarily think its fair to compare their flows, I mean they are so different. And so true dude. I also like indie hip-hop/rap. Like atmosphere, Sage Francis, Eyedea and Abilities etc.
@thevintagebow Haha, I happen to be a huge Sage Francis fan myself. I dunno, I guess I just find it a little ironic that the "underground" stuff makes the popular stuff look shoddy. As of late, I've been listening to Doctor Awkward quite a bit, and the production quality (particularly on the album 'Next Gen') is *totally* on par with any mainstream release.
@SneakyGeeky Oh hell yeah, popular stuff sounds terrible compared to underground. And I think the production quality of any nerdcore artist ive heard has been great.
I'm thinking of choreographing a music video for this with some of my stripper geek buddies. Cuze serious, this song RAWKS and needs a video of GREAT JUSTICE!!
Just saw this Live last night, I LOVED IT! One of my favorite songs. I was sad that Schaffer and Zealous1 weren't there, But MCLars and YTCracker are So awesome!!!!
I found this from Topless Robot. I made it in to an mp3 and play it on repeat. I know shit all about Bruce, at least when it comes to specific movies, but it's still the best song about the undead I know, and I listen to all sorts of quirky metal stuff. *clap*
@UVClay I also noticed some Wu-Tang Clan references, placed here because the song has several MC's on *it*. Such as "_protect ya neck_ and do the Bruce Campbell"
@BolivianNeko there are also some references to the Wu-Tang Clan (AFAIK). Wu-Tang had even more than 4 MC's on a song. Lars does dig classic hip-hop and occasionally make lyrical references to it
Look at the last two video suggestions. Now that is fucking awesome!
