  • it's s much fun to watch-

i wish there was a bit more roleplaying between the players

  • I like how everything bluebell says is a question, but it sounds like he isnt sure if its a good question

  • Ignore the dumbass going on about the ballista. He posted the same comment on the last video. So he doesnt care if we answer him. Hes just gonna keep commenting

  • 4:54 looks like he's jerking it

  • My favorite things to kill in D&D are usualy Hobgoblyns!

  • Two words: Arcane Ballista.

  • @ShiroiNami23 three words: you're an idiot

  • @SatanIsSextingMe Excuse me for being a DND noob. B\

  • @ShiroiNami23 this is my first time even /watching/ a dnd game, but if you were paying any attention at all you'd know they debated for a long time about the ballista and decided not to take it because they wouldn't be able to get it down that one ledge safely and for some other reason

  • tremors reference fuck yes

  • Graboids! Lol "Tremors!" !

  • ah stirges. always fun.

  • lol Bluebell's looking around like damn no doors... at 5:39.

  • ..You know what these guys needed? The Flamethrower.

  • Zeb Reminds me of myself

  • .>.> me when the karma vampire bird rats come out

  • - do we need a new strategy?

    - yes! RUN!!

    rofl

  • man this is so facinating and fun to watch, i just bought a starter set on ebay and will be getting it soon it will be my first foray into d&d and i can't wait :-)

  • Man this DM is bombsauce, all the DMs I had were arrogant dicks who got too carried away with being a DM.

  • @UrbanZ0mbie Chris Perkins, bro.

    :P

  • The flying thingys... they're stirges, am I right?

  • He's checking out his ass 0:57

  • very hard? between 15 en 20? Omg I wanted to disable a trap myself, I failed twice at 17... The numbers there were like 22, 22, 25, 27... something like that..

  • @91Darcy He said it's challenging and a DC 20 really is challenging at level one.

  • "Recuperating Strike" = Regain temp hit points equal to +/- Con

    At will

At WILL? This guys class has the ability to make EVERY single attack his own personal auxiliary healing surge? I've never played the game, but that sounds....fantastic.

Also, points for Tremors 3 reference, and 2:00 being the moment DnD became "Pitch Black."

  • @HotaruZoku i play as a barbarian in my group, you get temp hit points equal to your constitution modifier which mine is 3, but they dont stack, so you only get a max of 3, but if your raging you add 5 to that so it is a pretty good power, usually barbarians dont have the best AC so they kinda need a power like that

  • @gorimpich Ahh. Thanks.

  • @HotaruZoku Also, temp hp are lost the next time you rest, if any are left after the encounter.

  • @Fjarhultian This video and the PAX one got me into D and D, and having read the books I can see with the no stack rule it's not as OP as I thought.

    Still cool though.

  • @HotaruZoku I hope they find the time to follow up on the PAX one. Have you listened to the podcasts?

  • @Fjarhultian The dark sun one and the intro with Aofel. I'm listening to their first adventure together as Acquisitions Incorporated now. And hell yes, I'd be willing to drop 5 or 6 dollars on a full on video set of ongoing Acquisitions Inc. games, preferably with Chris Perkins, although the Dark Sun podcast highlights the DM ability of Mr. Holkins quite well.

  • @HotaruZoku Yeah, his stuff seemed to set up for a lot of future events.

  • @Fjarhultian Maybe that was meant to get people into their own games. Hope he has more in store though. I already bought half the 4e books I've ever seen, it isn't like he wouldn't be making his money's worth on me.

  • @HotaruZoku Mm, sadly my interested friends don't live close enough to make it convenient, and I'd rather not seek out a group of new people for it.

  • @Fjarhultian Why not? Anyone who enjoys that enough to do it's got to be the sort of people worth meeting, right?

  • @HotaruZoku I suppose that's true.

  • im curious r their attack of oppertunities in 4.0

  • @xtreme0ride Yes.

  • These guys are experts in breaking the fourth wall... XD

  • TAKE THAT MINIONS!!

  • THIS IS D&D NOT DMA! DUNGEON MASTERS ASS!

  • D&D online isn't fun but this looks awesome!

  • Attacked by Karma Birds :-)

  • D&D-Online game

    Is

    now

    Downloading.

    LOL

  • I love how everytime the dm leans over the table the camera is right on him LOL

  • 'karma birds' hahaha love it

  • AoE's would be nice. But also the DM should have told the party that any forced movement effects would end a grab (such as the Stirge latching on a party member).

  • did thay forget the gem from the stone head

  • @theemichael1 I was wondering the same thing.

  • Throw down some aoe for gods sake!!!

  • What are graboids from, that they mentioned?

  • @kstalt the Tremors movies

  • I did not think I would enjoy these videos as much as I am XD

  • This is when they start making less jokes and start getting serious...It's pretty awesome.

  • @MuseFly

sign of a good dm, let them joke and have fun, if done right - they'll be serious once it gets serious ;)

  • Solid encounter so far.

  • When I was looking at all those striges and orc skeletons, all I was thinking was," fireball, fireball, FIREBALL".

  • @WojekSiren FTW haha

  • Wardens also have an at-will that gives temp hitpoints

  • I'm pretty sure he's a barbarian, which gives him that ability to gain temp hit points

  • Recuperating Strike, yeah.

  • What class has an at-will ability they gives you temp hit points?

  • I know for a fact Bolstering Strike (Paladin) gives you temp HP. In addition Fighters have feats that give you temp HP on attack.

I think most defender and leader classes have some sort of at-will +temp hp ability.

  • Yeah, most of the Power books have some sort of temp hp boost attack.

Gives you a bit more durability.

  • I think invokers

  • BlueBell shoulda been damage maniac if he knew Twin Strike + Quarry :D

  • Fantastic series. The group definitely has a lot of potential. Intelligence, imagination, and a sense of humor are real virtues for any gamer. I hope this group continues to game together after this session (and ideally continues filming it.)

A darn shame they are stuck grinding through 4th edition D&D. There are games out there that allow for much more creativity and are less confining. That said, I'm still very appreciative they made this series.

Thank you Robot Chicken and WotC.

  • Love the Tremors reference.

  • Wish these were longer.

  • @wedgiey1

Yes, you would think they would be able to upload longer clips, but they probably aren't thinking of nerds like me trying to watch several in one sitting.

  • The wizard should probably abandond the skill challenga and healp his friends. You can do the skill challenge outside of combat.

  • "Dude my birth was foretold in a prophecy!"

    "So was mine!"

  • I'd hate to think what would happen if that magic circle gets tripped, what nastiness will that bring. I mean striges and undead orc are bad enough.

  • @gpc510: Tom said at the intro that he had never played before. "I'll try to do my best, which won't be very good", he said. It is Doug who is a 3.5 player.

@primeval003: I think Tom asked if she should roll because they practically roleplayed most of the previous section when they were trying to get the rest of the party up there.

  • So wish Chris explained the rules about the different powers and their use at the start. Using a daily on a minion is just wrong.

  • It was an encounter power, not a daily - plus it was against multiple enemies, so it was a wise choice. But it would have been best spent on three or more, and not just two.

  • I was referring to Shield of Blades, which I thought was a daily.

  • That would just bog down an intro game. It's best to let new players just play and enjoy the game. As they play they will ask questions and learn.

  • I really like the series, but it's painful to watch novice adventurers blunder about... Tom Root especially, "do I roll?" Seriously what have you been doing for the LAST hour? Have you not tumbled to the basics yet?

  • I thought Tom actually played, but I think he played 3.5 or an earlier version

  • Does the premade ranger not have Twin Strike? The horror! :)

  • Shouldn't temp hp be kept track of on the side instead of just adding them? Let's say you're just bloodied by 2 points and you gain 4 temp, you will still be bloodied right?

  • This is true. For the same reasons if you're below 0 hp, and receive 4 temp hp, you're still unconscious.

  • love these videos

  • Ugh striges thats just wrong...

  • It's cool how the players are getting more and more serious and into the game as it goes on...Keep these great vids coming!

  • Love this series, great to watch other people's experiences with the game. Now on a side note, is this how the next Penny Arcade D&D game will be shown or as a regular podcast again?

  • part 16 of the awesomeness!!

  • this series is awesome
