That model is called the Deluxe American Standard. I have one in Bahama Green I bought new in 1988. Mine still has the Fender paperwork with the model name on it. They're easy to date by the serial number. The first letter E stands for eighties. The next digit 8 would mean an E8 or 88. The exception to this would be the E4 serial numbers which were made in 87 or 88 with leftover decals from 84.
I have got one of these, and I love it. I had no idea there were so few. Can you date it for me (bought in 1989 from Chandler Guitars in Kew)? Serial: E802497.
I'd like to re-wire it so the number two selector switch position gives me neck and bridge p.u. in phase together as I don't really like the Fender out-of-phase combinations. And do something with the number 4 selector swithch position too. (Any suggestions?) I don't want to change anything else.
I love that out of phase sound especially when you need a clean sound. Sorry I don't know how you would go about changing it. I believe your is a 1988 or thereabouts. Best wishes.
I'm sure that Fender were trying hard at that point to re-establish their reputation for quality... as it is very good in this series huh? I play mine though my son's Marshal 1987X and 4 by 12 cab. Gold Sensors are excellent, I think... I'd say a bit warmer than regular Fender single coils....
My frets had worn a bit so I flatted them with a flat fine Swiss file and this worked fine on a DIY basis.
I'm guessing from the room that you live in the South of England. Wanna jam?
yes they were trying to get their standards up. I live on the Isle of Wight. Love to jam sometime but so many commitments - work and family stuff. Anyway, good o hear from you. All the best.
do you know if the lace sensor pickups are grouped into 'neck, middle and bridge' for each colour? or are different colours used in different positions?
hey nice version of Rock N Roll ! I'm gonna get a sienna burst strat soon I just can't wait

on this model there are 3 Gold lace sensors (same as on a strat plus). The strat plus deluxe had 3 different colours.
