  • I thought the flood of 55 was in August? If so that's way too soon for the leaves to be changing like shown on this video.

  • Great job with restoring! Thank you

  • my mistake, Hurricane Carol was in 1954 according to Wikipedia

  • they had to fly in food to drakeville because the roads were out

  • I'm from Torrington but I don't recognize any of the scenes here. Also, the leaves in many of these scenes are well into turning into their fall colors. This suggests that the scenes aren't from the flood that ravaged Torrington in August, 1955. They may be from the flood that happened in mid-October, 1955. That flood hit a lot of towns that were hit in August like Winsted, but I don't think it hit Torrington.

  • My grandmother lost her house when she was a kid to the floods of 1955, a grassy patch on the side of the river is all that remains now.

  • I remember this time well. I was twelve years old and lived in Ansonia. Watching this video reminded me of the loss and sadness we all experienced but also of the love and strength of the wonderful families and friends who pulled together to help each other rebuild lives and homes. Also thank you to the brave men and women who gave their time and concern to us.

  • Where were these images taken? It would be helpful to know more.

    Nice restoration.

  • Great Work going on here!
