G'day. Couldnt help not replying but the Rx's double headed a few times in the 70s. August 1970 to Burra, April 1972 metro special, Sept 72 to Riveryon/Auburn, August 1973 to Cambrai and Murray Bridge, Sept 1973 to Clare/Spalding, Oct 1973 to Murray Bridge, Oct 1973 to Bridgewater, May 1974 to VH, May 1974 to Truro, Aug 1974 to Strathalbyn, May 1975 metro special, May 1975 to VH and again in Oct 1976 and April 1976 metro special. Rx207 ran her last trip in late 1976 on a twilighter special.
As you mentioned, Rx207 returned in April 1981 after a lengthy repairs to boiler. So to the above video it couldnt be the 1975 run as the train consisted of all steel stocks, not wooden. But it couldnt be the May 1974 as that train departed from platform 12. In the video it showed platform 1, so it narrowed down to the Oct 1976 trip. Interesting, that Oct 1976 run was supposed to be hauled by loco 520, but she failed in a big way during the previous Peterborough run. Aah those were the days...
I'm glad I lived through them. Riding the ends of a Centenary Car all the way to Victor or Truro or wherever. Not like today's sanitised VHTR where such behaviour is not allowed. Do you remember John McAvaney's Train Tour Promotions ?
G'day. Yes, it is certainly not the same these days no matter how much we try to look at it. Yes, you're not wrong about that, we all loved riding on the end decks especially in late afternoon. They were magic, something I always cherished with me hence I have good memory of ARHS specials. Unfortunately I became a 'regular' during early 80s and at that time many branches were already closed, but I did take as many rides as much as possible before the end of 1995. John McAvaney's promotions? No..
It has been all 'steam' for me and during that time it was that brilliant man, Mr D Harvey who looked after those ARHS trains during the good 'ol 70s and 80s. If you're reading this Mr H, thanks for the memories.....
This is amazing footage, please upload more if you can. I'm a massive SA train fan, if only I was born to experience Adelaide railway the way people like yourself did.
Really good!...thankyou for posting!

Train Tour Promotions was active from the mid '70s to the very early 80's.
Used to run branch line trips with chartered SAR-AN stock (Bluebirds etc)
I wish I'd taken more of his trips now.
