I've been trying to find the name of this game for the last like 10 years, Me and my friend played this as kids all the time. It's the SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!! Thanks for the post!
The PSX version is kinda of a cheat: It's in fact the original rom running emulated. That's why it's literally arcade perfect. Neither Megadrive or SNES could coupe tiehthe CPU speed needed topull off an arcade perfect port. Good times... =)
Which is downright unacceptable since the SNES could have done a much better port of Raiden if it was ported by Sunsoft or Capcom instead of that terrible Toei game company who also did that terrible Hokuto No Ken game.
@Jac2Mac Actually a company called Micronics Co. Ltd. did this game for Toei, and Shouei System Co. Ltd. did the Hokuto no Ken games for Toei-(Granted, the games' controls are very poor, but I do like Mitsuyasu Tomohisa's music for the games.)
I still have this game from when it first came out and when i was little i whoud always go for the blue power up but now I rely on range more then power good times good times
Not much. Or at least not enough to outweigh the advantages of hitting more targets at once and blocking a little fire coming your way too. Even if it did though, the sound is annoying as hell.
Raiden Trad for SNES, didn't fit up to the original from Sega. The soundtrack was wrong, the sound FX were wrong as well. In raiden trad on sega, you had to build up the level of missiles (M or H). In this, you get the level 4 missiles instantly. It literally killed the fun off the game. That's why I like the Sega version better. The soundtracks fit the stages, the fx were excellent and you had to earn your weapons, which, to me enhanced gameplay!
@Audi134 I like both versions, but I like the music on the Genesis version better because I just love the music chip that is used on the Sega Genesis- The YM2612.
You know... It's really hilarious about me playing this. Whenever I reach that crashed ship I already have max powerups for lasers and homing missles... Weird eh? It's because that [P] powerup appears.
Grande Raiden!
not bad, but seems a bit clunky

@darkdragonforever
Same here, I've tried a few sites but for some reason the roms don't work. The only that's worked is the Genesis one.

Wow this is a horrible port
The PS1 version blows it out of the water

There wasn't a PSX around in 1991, so that comment is truth, but a bit unfair. =)

Genesis/Mega-Drive = inferior
SNES = superior audio & graphics
Jaguar best port because it's 64-bit
JasonLee332002 3 years ago
Genesis/Megadrive= Faster game
SNES= Superior audio and graphics but Is equal to my 90 year old grandma walking uphill.
Jaguar is not exactly 64 bit, look it up.

In my honest opinion:
MD: Fastest port
SNES: Has the best GFX
Jag: Don't even go there.

TG16/PCE comes in 2nd. MD has the best accuracy but TG16 has closer difficulty to the arcade. SNES is a walk in the park. All enemies have 2hps.

Not only is the Mega Drive version better, it's also the most difficult port made for home consoles at the time.

Hmmm.. The Snes version seems to give larger weapon power ups than the genesis version. It also seemed like
the bosses were significantly weaker. Raiden trad is still a great vertical shooter regardless.
