@SlyOcalai Of course. The pharaoh was the reincarnation of Horus and when a pharaoh died his spirit went to be one with Osiris. The pharaoh was more then just king and emperor,he (or she) was God.

Pharaoh is a title used in many modern discussions of the ancient Egyptian rulers of all periods. The title originates in the term ‘’pr-aa’’ which means ‘’great house’’ and describes the royal palace. The title of Pharaoh started being used for the king during the New Kingdom, specifically during the middle of the eighteenth dynasty. For simplification, however, there is a general acceptance amongst modern writers to use the term to relate to all periods.
Actually by the time of Rome's Apex, with Greece conquered, the Dynasty ruling Egypt started speaking the language(Egyptian) and adopting local culture because being associated with Greece was no longer what it used to be.

I don't understand does Creative Assembly know anything about history because those troops in the egypt intro DID NOT EXIST IN 270BC. These are from The golden Era of Egypt which is about 1300BC. Can they ever get their history right. I do not play origial RTW anymore only mods especialy Roma Surrectum 2 which gives very accurate troops for Egypt as well as other nations.
egypt is awesome. im white. but my first girlfriend is egyptian. well.. born in canada but egyptian ancestry from mother/father and up. so i had a little bit of the egyptian rub off on me. both literally and figuratively ;)
Egypt or Kemet was once so strong, yet now they are just another crappy muslim/invader infested country. How many people in Egypt actually know how to speak Coptic today or other old Egyptian languages?
That is the most ignorant thing I have heard today. If by arabic you mean Semitic, then that would have made more sense. Also, we say "arab" to distinguish people that speak arabic or are from arabic speaking origins. The Ancient Egyptians spoke a variety of languages similar to Greek. In fact, their last language before the arab invasion was Coptic. And, the Coptic alphabet is an adapted version of the Greek alphabet except it has 6 additional letters that the Greeks don't use.
@havee3333333 sorry i said my comment wrong,i ment the arabs were always RELATED to the egyptians, and yes do your research they were...for a fact....related
No shit Sherlock. I did my reseach, if you actually read anything I wrote, you would understand. I said that Egyptians and arabs where both Semitic people, making them related. This also means that arabs and Jews are related...

I do not have anything against Americans, but the vast majority of them don't know the basics. I have heard your government is going to shut down tomorrow. It's quite sad that a great country can't afford to run their government.

@havee3333333 vast majority..ehh...like a bit under half most people i met are quite intelligent americans.but yes it is extremely sad -__- but all empires rise and fall..like the egyptians up here :)
Empires do rise and fall, but that is only because overtime most of them become corrupt or inoperable. I think if a government was run by a 3rd party, such as computers, we would have an empire that lasts until the end of the world.
Just think about it, computers rather than humans managing a world wide empire. I doubt it would ever fall, though there might be some ethical problems with that.
@havee3333333 true..never thought of it that way, but i would imagine the computer system would be heavily defended (because it would be able to be hacked)
I still think computers have a long way to go. I know that the system I'm talking about would need decades of technological advancements before it can even be purposed. Hopefully in the future we can give computers a mind of their own, so they'll be able to fight off hack attempts and viruses like how we fight off sicknesses.
@havee3333333 ........There's a little thing called Skynet. Big burly Austrians traveling back in time to utterly destroy humanity. Shape-shifting cyborgs stabbing people. I don't like that thought.
Language is just a small piece in a puzzle of differences. If you cannot even conceive the aspects of a superior race, than why do you bother even learning about Ancient Kemet? If you think that Ancient Egyptians and arabs were a similar race, than I will call Jews and arabs a similar race too because they came from Semitic ancestors.
That is the only real similarity between arabs and ancient Egyptians, Semitic ancestors... There are more, but those are small similarities.

Please don't call people ignorant, as you have to concept of that definition.
Yes, although 90% of the population of Egypt are Egyptian, that only refers to the people ethnically related to Egypt(that could also include being Sunni, Shai(Fatimid), Jewish, Coptic, Armenian, Turkish, or other minorities and majorities in Egyptian history.
According to the Arab League, about 70 million people in Egypt are considered Arab. That is the source I use.
Hey you guys should download some mods.Search Total War Center, and it has a whole section for mods. They make everything more accurate.Especially the Egyptians.
@BladeStrikes the fail is that the egyptian faction in rtw is one big giant anachronism. The rulers of egypt were greek at that time and the units in the game look like they're from 1000 BC lol.
@Herbstgespenst while it does seem that Egypt is outdated, you have to remember that Ptolomey respected Egyptian traditions, and wished to make a Greco-Egyptian kingdom, hence the egyptian phalanx and the improvement of the cavalry
@Herbstgespenst That's what makes Egypt fun to play in RTW, it looks like the ancient Egypt, before it fell and became persian, and later on greek :) Don't you think ? :)
The day the protests against Mubarak started in Egypt, I decided to pick up my campaign as the Scipii that I had started a couple of months ago, and realized that all of my territories in Egypt were rebelling. Needless to say, I found it oddly amusing.
I did the same thing, I raised the taxes on all of my territories and all of my settlements started to riot. It was like the IRL protests against mubarak, only I was mubarak.
just try to have a longer legionary line than there phalanx line, dont engage but get close enough to were you are in pila range, throw your pila(thus getting there attention) but dont charge in then have any melee calvary swarm around the back and destroy the phalanx. dont worry about there calvary unless they try to do the same to your infantry or have a general. that always works for me with carthage when i fight those guys
That intro is historically inacurate. Those times Egypt was a Hellenistic kingdom with Phalanxes and a lot of mercenaries....The mumy age was gone centuries before 270 bc.....
@Jeffanos but the units are egyptian.with egyptian armor.with egyptian religion.all that is diferent is that the units:Nile Spearmen,Pharaoh's Guards and Nubian Spearmen are phalanx users.
@Jeffanos LOL I'm juts saying that this is a video game. Not a history lesson. I like to play games for fun not to learn history. If you want a historically accurate game there are a few mods (Europa Barbarorum and Rome Total Realism are the best) which make this game highly accurate.
@Jeffanos yes but would it be awesome to hear the Hellenistic thing or this Egyptian intro; i prefer this intro, even though it is historically inaccurate but is fun and awesome to hear and watch.
@Jeffanos True but didn't the Potolemic dynasty ressurect some aspects like worshipping Egyptian Gods and declaring themselves to be Gods in turn and I think there may have been some inbreeding too?
@gangstamillion True my friend but their costumes and some of their rituals were completelly different..Not to mention the Army..They used the Macedonian phalanx and they also declared their Greek ancestry my point was that they should have represent it more accurate especially their Armies since Rome is a wargame...
Eygpt is honestly the easiest campaign in the entire game. They have an amazing starting position, Wealthy starting cities, only have to fight on one front, people more loyal than usual.
The only downside is their units arn't the best but they do well enough and you can mass them and do pretty well. Your only problem will be with selucia and selucia is not too difficult as they have a 4 front war going on almost from the beginning.
@bradhuygens Or you could just choose to play the short campaign so you will have to only control like 15 regions (can't remember how many it was) and destroy 1-2 factions.
OMG Egypt in R:TW should be the Ptolemaioi (Ptolemaic Dynasty) NOT SOME MIDDLE KINGDOM EGYPT... But can't dislike the intro... It is quite ironic that CA stated that Chariot dominated egypt would fit to customers' taste than another phalanx dominated one while R:TW Egypt has a crap load of phalanx units.
The first time I played with the Egyptians, it was quite hard.
I started well, but after a while I started losing an immense amount of money and my main enemy faction - Pontus - almost wiped out my turkish settlements, but I got my economy back up again and destroyed them. I ended up conquering all of the Eastern section of the map. =D
well i quited after months of gameplay because i was just getting tired of those rebel shit. sega realy ruined this game overestimating the power of just some stupid rebels
i think they made rome too strong in this game. i mean alot of these factions in real can beat rome in battles like thrace or gaul could defeat rome. but rome in the game could beat any faction easily if u kno what ur doing.
@aresgodofwar10 i partly agree but it is funny that in Barbarian Invasion if u play as Wester Roman Empire u can cleary see that they have waaay to much overreacted how weak rome is. i mean there are no highways even in Rome herself and every time 1 city full of scumbags rebels it risas as a rebel city thats full of organised and well-armed Wester Empire Rebels. Thats totalty bullshit none rebels like that would be so strong and well-armed.
A shame CA showed the Ptolemaic faction as more of an ancient Egyptian, Pharoah worshipping people than the Hellenic Kingdom they were at the time. Still a great faction to play as back then, small but great for cash and, most of all, fun!
@pwn3dn00b97 yes true but if you play campaign not as the romans you really shouldnt care and if you dont play campaign at all[online play] then you wouldnt care about that
@MrUnclepeanuts True, but the Julii, Brutii and Scipii seem to be set up as easy, medium and hard respectively. Think about it, the Julii are up against the barbarian factions, and although defeating them takes some grinding, no advanced tactics are needed like with the Greeks, Macedonians, and for Scipii, the various flavours of Carthaginian spearman. On top of that, the Julii have access to the most cities, and while the supply isn't terribly lacking for the Brutii, it is for the Scipii.
@dark297 yet you can go on war with whatever you want, and barbarian citys are not as rewarding as civilized citys. and dont forget the corruption and distance from capital, which linked.
@MrUnclepeanuts there is a boat that only the scipii can build, corvus quinquireme or something like this... it is buildable only by the temple of neptune... if I remember correctly... peace !!!
@MrUnclepeanuts Except that there are ways for one to easily gain the upper hand. If you take Brutii and take the southern Gallic down and Sicily, you are the only one of the houses that will actually expand during the rest of the game...
@mastercheif58 I dont know a single person but I know that in this time period it was the ptolemy dynasty so not sure of the leaders name but I know it was that dynasty
With that...a protectorate means you give away all independence and become a little slave for a bigger country. If you are ever asked to do that...say no unless you have only a city left and you're surrounded by allied enemies. That would help you get out of war.

Epic History Fail
TheChairmaker 1 year ago 3
@TheChairmaker Wats the fail?
BladeStrikes 11 months ago
@BladeStrikes the fail is that the egyptian faction in rtw is one big giant anachronism. The rulers of egypt were greek at that time and the units in the game look like they're from 1000 BC lol.
Herbstgespenst 11 months ago 37
@Herbstgespenst Oh......to bad I still like them:D
BladeStrikes 11 months ago
@Herbstgespenst another Big fail is that CA made Carthiginian Generals and Agents look Middle Eastern/African.
MrUnclepeanuts 5 months ago
@Herbstgespenst while it does seem that Egypt is outdated, you have to remember that Ptolomey respected Egyptian traditions, and wished to make a Greco-Egyptian kingdom, hence the egyptian phalanx and the improvement of the cavalry
puchy110 5 months ago
@Herbstgespenst Look at Europa Barbarorum. They realized who the Ptolemies were BEFORE they made the game. :P
DestroyerOfSense000 4 months ago 2
@Herbstgespenst That's what makes Egypt fun to play in RTW, it looks like the ancient Egypt, before it fell and became persian, and later on greek :) Don't you think ? :)
Killerjsa 3 months ago
@Herbstgespenst Download rome total realism, they're historically accurate.

The day the protests against Mubarak started in Egypt, I decided to pick up my campaign as the Scipii that I had started a couple of months ago, and realized that all of my territories in Egypt were rebelling. Needless to say, I found it oddly amusing.
14GloryofRome14 1 year ago 47
@14GloryofRome14
LOL

@Jeffanos but the units are egyptian.with egyptian armor.with egyptian religion.all that is diferent is that the units:Nile Spearmen,Pharaoh's Guards and Nubian Spearmen are phalanx users.

but Greeks had never been in Germania.

@Jeffanos This is something called a videogame. There are many mods (EB, RS, RTR) and history books outside if you want to learn history.

@prdude1234 Am i suposed to answer to your idiotic comment??
Jeffanos 9 months ago
@Jeffanos LOL I'm juts saying that this is a video game. Not a history lesson. I like to play games for fun not to learn history. If you want a historically accurate game there are a few mods (Europa Barbarorum and Rome Total Realism are the best) which make this game highly accurate.
prdude1234 9 months ago
@Jeffanos
i noticed that too, but i like it, because pharaos belong to the ancient setting ;)
ColonialismTotalWar 8 months ago
@Jeffanos yes but would it be awesome to hear the Hellenistic thing or this Egyptian intro; i prefer this intro, even though it is historically inaccurate but is fun and awesome to hear and watch.
KingE20 8 months ago
@Jeffanos True but didn't the Potolemic dynasty ressurect some aspects like worshipping Egyptian Gods and declaring themselves to be Gods in turn and I think there may have been some inbreeding too?
gangstamillion 7 months ago
@gangstamillion True my friend but their costumes and some of their rituals were completelly different..Not to mention the Army..They used the Macedonian phalanx and they also declared their Greek ancestry my point was that they should have represent it more accurate especially their Armies since Rome is a wargame...
Jeffanos 7 months ago
@Jeffanos true, but who doesnt love the old school Egyptian styled look tho x)? thats what makes play as them fun imo
hellchild65 7 months ago 10
Eygpt is honestly the easiest campaign in the entire game. They have an amazing starting position, Wealthy starting cities, only have to fight on one front, people more loyal than usual.
The only downside is their units arn't the best but they do well enough and you can mass them and do pretty well. Your only problem will be with selucia and selucia is not too difficult as they have a 4 front war going on almost from the beginning.

FEAR709 2 years ago
i think they made rome too strong in this game. i mean alot of these factions in real can beat rome in battles like thrace or gaul could defeat rome. but rome in the game could beat any faction easily if u kno what ur doing.
aresgodofwar10 2 years ago
@aresgodofwar10 i partly agree but it is funny that in Barbarian Invasion if u play as Wester Roman Empire u can cleary see that they have waaay to much overreacted how weak rome is. i mean there are no highways even in Rome herself and every time 1 city full of scumbags rebels it risas as a rebel city thats full of organised and well-armed Wester Empire Rebels. Thats totalty bullshit none rebels like that would be so strong and well-armed.

I dont have the faction intros, how do you get them?
Andersman5 2 years ago
A shame CA showed the Ptolemaic faction as more of an ancient Egyptian, Pharoah worshipping people than the Hellenic Kingdom they were at the time. Still a great faction to play as back then, small but great for cash and, most of all, fun!
CelticAndProud 2 years ago 4
you guys that say one Roman faction is stronger then the other you guys are wrong out all the Roman faction are equal to each other
MrUnclepeanuts 2 years ago 28
i disagree, starting position is a huge factor....but unit wise they are equal
sportsxguy22 2 years ago
@sportsxguy22 indeed if your position is better then the other Roman faction your faction is stronger but other then that equal
well scipii historically loved the Greek culture so they were different but that doesnt have anything to do with the battlefield
MrUnclepeanuts 2 years ago
@MrUnclepeanuts WRONG!!!!! only their armies/units are equal, the campaign experience with the 3 roman houses are rather different to one another.
pwn3dn00b97 2 years ago
@pwn3dn00b97 yes true but if you play campaign not as the romans you really shouldnt care and if you dont play campaign at all[online play] then you wouldnt care about that

they all have the same class style of boats
MrUnclepeanuts 1 year ago
@MrUnclepeanuts wanna bet? the scipii can build the temple of neptune, that can enable the construction of corvus quinquireme and decere...
talibanulafgan 1 year ago
@MrUnclepeanuts True, but the Julii, Brutii and Scipii seem to be set up as easy, medium and hard respectively. Think about it, the Julii are up against the barbarian factions, and although defeating them takes some grinding, no advanced tactics are needed like with the Greeks, Macedonians, and for Scipii, the various flavours of Carthaginian spearman. On top of that, the Julii have access to the most cities, and while the supply isn't terribly lacking for the Brutii, it is for the Scipii.
dark297 1 year ago
@dark297 yet you can go on war with whatever you want, and barbarian citys are not as rewarding as civilized citys. and dont forget the corruption and distance from capital, which linked.
Tayvar 1 year ago
@MrUnclepeanuts except for the temples they can build
nukeboy14 1 year ago
@MrUnclepeanuts
the spqr units are slightly stronger than the regular units but they(in the campaign) dont built much army.
rkhale02 1 year ago
@MrUnclepeanuts there is a boat that only the scipii can build, corvus quinquireme or something like this... it is buildable only by the temple of neptune... if I remember correctly... peace !!!
talibanulafgan 11 months ago
@MrUnclepeanuts Except that there are ways for one to easily gain the upper hand. If you take Brutii and take the southern Gallic down and Sicily, you are the only one of the houses that will actually expand during the rest of the game...

You need to beat the game as one of the Roman families.
Or edit the game files...but what fun is that? It's much more fun to know you won once and earned that country.
darkghor 2 years ago
oh ic.... btw, what does it mean to become a protectorate
CodeNameD1 2 years ago
With that...a protectorate means you give away all independence and become a little slave for a bigger country. If you are ever asked to do that...say no unless you have only a city left and you're surrounded by allied enemies. That would help you get out of war.
