@Rockstarr469 I agree. Most people don't walk around with a knife. I like to see Vunak give empty hand vs knife defenses since that situation is more common.
@rockstarr469 he mentioned it for only a few seconds, but the rule is to grab an equalizer. 'hot coffee' for instance. A fancy movie example of this is the Bourne Identity, which was a 2 inch knife against a ball point pen.
@rockstarr469 Not really. And if you go by what this guy says, you'll never find one. The way guys like this teach is that you ALWAYS carry a knife. Which of course isn't helpful to our friends over in the UK, since I'm under the current impression blades are illegal over there. Not to mention they treat it like EVERYONE is a prized knife fighter. Just find something you trust, and find a friend. Get some twigs, and find out if it works.
in sparring and of course real life. maybe he allows it in sparring but i have his advanced knife fighting and archive dvd and in both the guys are kicking at a bladeholding opponent. im sure he doesnt advocate it in the street but my personal opinion is i wouldnt do it but thats just me.
@jamiirali1 low kicks serve their purpose... although your thigh may provide some target, you can gain distance with a kick... every inch of distance can mean life or death in a real knife fight... a good kick to the knee can stop an opponent from charging in and give you a split second to run or counter...
@copypacercopypacer im well aware of that my comment was towards kicking at a blade holding opponent. i practice fma/silat so im aware of how a disarm is carried out.

i love everything but the guys kicking at a blade carrying opponent. kicking opens one to a nasty femoral shot.
jamiirali1 1 year ago
@jamiirali1 is that in the sparring? I don't think Paul teaches that as a viable option..

@jamiirali1 in filipino kali, they use hands to disarm the knife, not kick it.
