THIS IS SO FREAKIN AWESOME! I USED TO WATCH THIS SHOW WHEN I WAS A KID. I WENT ON TO BECOME A COMIC BOOK ILLUSTRATOR!! ALL BECAUSE OF THIS SHOW! NOW MY DAUGHTER IS 6 AND TALENTED AS HECK. I CAN SHOW HER NOW!!!
WOW!!! I thought I would never find this show again! I can't believe there are episodes on here now. Holy crap! I used to be obsessed with this show!!!
Is this the guy that made that 3D city? I think I use to watch this. I am not sure though. I was born in the 70's so I know I seen this show I just wanted to know if this is the same guy who drew that 3D city?
i remember this back at 7 years old lol. i loved it.
my dad worked in an office and back then people kept these huge office calender pads on their desk. the backs were always blank. so i started keeping them as each month went by and i think by the time it was done it was about 6 pages of my own secret city taped together calendar piece by calendar piece.
I learned to draw perspective and basic material folds (he showed how to draw a flag in the wind one episode) from this show. Commander Mark was the awesomest!!!!!
This is where I learned to draw perspective and when I realized I loved drawing. I never thought I'd see it again but I owe a great debt to this show as I am now a professional graphic artist.
It has been so long since I watched Imagination Station. I remember Mark Kistler putting on an assembly at my elementary school where he was met with a hero's welcome. The memories. <3
This brings back memmories! I so loved this guy as a kid. he has had so much positive influance on people. When I see how old he looks now it is funny but he is still drawing and wearing those crazy costumes. LOL. He opened my imagination to so many things.
Holy crap I was trying to find this FOREVER. I thought I would never see this show again! Thank you so much for posting this! I learned so many things from this man when I was very young. Such nostalgia!
White Fang's distant cousin Cindy at 3:55! (For those too young or not YouTube savvy enough, White Fang was a reoccuring character on The Soupy Sales Show featuring some creature that you only saw it's furry arms and hands.)
Man! I'm really excited that I found this show, I love it. I never forgot about it; however, over the years I did manage to forget what it was called. I'm an Artist now and this show sparked my creativity and inspired me to pursuit Art for a living. Thanks for posting this.
im a grown ass man but seeing this again brings me back to when i was 9. I loved this show. i would sit in the living room every night this was on and would draw with him. he visited my school when i was in 4th grade. DAMN... time goes by fast... I miss those days
This show should be released in a big DVD box set... I would buy two copies immediately. One for my kids to learn from, and one to give away so that others could get a dose of Commander Mark. He's a genius.
Thanks for posting this video! Good times - I had forgotten where I first learned to draw perspective and solid shapes freehand, but this video reminded me. Many doodles through grade and high school were based on this show.
Damn used to watch this all the time with my older sis and we'd have our sketch pads out. Loved this show every time I mention Commander Mark to other artist their like who? People only remember Bob Ross! I feel sorry for kids now a days and their shitty programing and useless video games.
OMG!!!! Commander Mark!! I thought I was the only one who remembered him!! Yay PBS!! Thank you SO much for sharing this! I used to watch him, Square One Television and Zoobilee Zoo when I was a kid!
thank you, thank you , thank you i still draw what i learnt from commander mark anytime am bored at work, in a lecture anywhere i just never forgot direction one and direction seven.

Commander Mark rocks! I only wish he'd been there when that ignorant art teacher told me I could never be an artist because I had no natural talent!
