Jason Steed may not have mastered Shakespeare, but he is a more competent actor. The more competent the actor the less work the audience has to do.There is a smooth flow of energy between the writer, the actor, and the audience only when each plays their role. When the writer writes and the actor acts and the audience listens/observe a story can be told.Shakespeare didn't write so that one day a grown man can get a pat on the head. Shakespeare belongs to Craig Bazan he should ACT like he owns Aaron!
I am so impressed with your command of the character, ease with the language - goodness, you blew me away. I'm a Shakespeare freak and I love how you do this stuff. Keep on growing! Thanks for the show.
@wendythedane1 What a patronizing comment! What are you his 1st grade teacher? He's 19yrs old, tell him the truth,he sucked! He is more suited to do that punk Othello or Hamlet NOT Aaron the Moor.
@titusact4scene2 - what did I say that was patronizing? YOUR truth is that he sucked. I think he's very talented and is getting better all the time. I'm just an audience member. I really like his performances and I hope he keeps putting them up here.
@wendythedane1 My truth is the truth.Craig will never be able to compete, when he gets phony "do-gooder" affirmative action feedback. You were just giving the black boy a pat on the head, probably secretly hoping he will never hone his skills to the point of real competition. How can you say that you're a "Shakespeare freak" and take that performance seriously? He is a man! he's old enough to get killed in Afghanistan,he old enough to get an honest assessment of this goofy monologue....goodness!
@AzaleaZoeliz Ultimately, when an actor performs this monologue, you have to ask yourself whether you believe Aaron stands before you.Otherwise it's just reading.Aaron was a dangerous, calculating, ruthless MAN.Craig , come across as a harmless, simple and gentle BOY.Acting is a skill that requires a lot of work. Not everyone can do Shakespeare. There is no "A" for effort in life. You either perform or you can't.If Craig is serious about becoming an actor,he needs to step up his game.I want him to Win
@titusact4scene2 If you want him to win then that is admirable and I thank you for answering. I do not know of acting, neither do I claim that I would just to get that out of the way but I am wondering in what parts you see the boy, and not the man? Could Craig perform the man, the character at all in your opinion or is the part too difficult to imagine from the one and a half minute we see here. Do you know of any examples where the performer would possess what is sought in the part instantly?
@AzaleaZoeliz The Job of an actor IS to MAKE the audience believe INSTANTLY that the character is right before their eyes.It is not the job of the audience to do this for the actor. If the audience member's have to work to project the character on to the actor, then the actor is doing a disservice to the writer.Craig is not a child. He's a young Man.We shouldn't praise him just because he made an effort to do Shakespeare. We do that with children.Look at JASON STEED DOES OTHELLO MONOLOGUE.
@titusact4scene2 A very good reply. I do see your point all the more. I liked at Jason Steed and despite minor differences, like composition and the tone of the act it set up what could instantly be the character. I did feel Othello waiting to take to the stage. I do wish all the well to Craig Bazan since it is not an easy field to be working in and if he sticks with it I feel your comments are shaping up to be quite inspirational. Thank you very much.
@wendythedane1 Yeah ,you're right, and I'll try to calm down. I just dont like it when Americans get a couple of dusty, unread, "no fear Shakespeare"books on their shelf and this make them "Shakespeare freaks"....But you've got me in stitches! ah.you're a nutter, I'm gonna use that.

@wendythedane1 Excuse me but I was wondering if you had any advices on how this boy should suck less since you brought it up you must have many advices to give and to encourage. You can say that he supposedly sucked and should give this monologue or play a rest but that would be too easy so now you should point to what could be improved. I don't think he was that bad actually. I've seen classical texts get mangled by payed actors on established stages so there is more to it than that.
A great rendition of one of Shakespeare's most underappreciated villains. Not only does Craig capture Aaron's vile nature, but also the pain and torment which fuels that vileness. It's easy to feel disgust and sympathy toward Aaron at th same time.
Another great performance. I agree with the previous comments about the play, it does deal with extremes of behaviour but is nonetheless worth exploring. People should try and watch the DVD of Julie Taymor's film version - it is very good. Craig, I love your work! It would be great to see you perform something from other plays, Richard the Third or Othello are two that come to mind. I know there's a lot more to come from you.

Very good job!
I don't really like the play (even though I love Shakespeare) because it's kind of disturbing, not to mention the racism.
But this is a great performance! Keep it up!
