It sucked because the story lacked, and because of scenes like this... it's enjoyable to just watch this scene, but come on... the terminators always have an opportunity to kill him and instead they just toss him to the side doing no damage. In the last scene, the terminator held Connor by the neck for about 10 seconds. Don't you think by then he'd break his neck? The movie was full of action like that which made no sense, and artificially 'weakened' the terminators with bad sequencing.

it's because if you listen to the messages these are primative versions which will become badass this one is damaged and the other one that looked like arnold was a prtotype that still needed programming most likely.

There are going to be another 2 movies based in the future so the story "lacking" as you say is because there is more story to come and the "bigger picture" will probably be revealed then. It's like watching only 1 Star Wars film and not the rest and saying "Well that didn't make sense".

And on the the Terminators just breaking Conners neck, well if they did that there wouldn't be much of a movie to watch let alone another 2 movies.

Of course he's not supposed to break his neck, I was more so pointing out that the action sequence was poorly designed, because the terminators they showed in this movie just look scary but when it comes to the real deal they're harmless seeing as it's so easy for Connor to escape any of them.

As for the story, I don't know. The whole Marcus Wright story had nothing to do with terminators in the past and it was sort of lame if you ask me.

This scene in particular was in tribute to the final fight scene in the original terminator when Sarah Connor fights the t800 without any lower portion. Coincidentally, the scene where Arnold first says "I'll be back" to the cop in the police station was significant because his last name was Wright, the father of Marcus. Also, Marcus was actually the template for the T800's as discovered in this film, only it was stretched in order to disguise bulky t800s.

comparing this to the first star wars is almost blasphemy. I loved the star wars trilogy as a kid the moment i started watching them.

This movie had the feeling "it'll get better, it's just warming up" the whole way through. And that's how it ended. Lukewarm.

I was simply trying to convey to PoliticalHell that by judging this film as being lacking in story without waiting for the next two installments is a bit sensless. As a stand alone film, the first star wars was awesome.

yeah that's the problem. If McGov had just bypassed the T3 story and edited out Kate. It could have been a Prequel to T1. it might have even been a great one. like the Next film they are fighting more machines it could be a drama story like Saving Private Ryan. The NExt they get the Laser weapons and Everything is looking like it did in T 1 and 2. The Next could have been a direct Prequel to T1. Plus Common sucks ass in acting never hire rappers to be actors most of them suck at it.

@aliceofVoodoo21 On its own it is a very good movie, but when you compare it to the Cameron films it's just not up to that level of story telling.  Miles better than Terminator 3, and the CG Arnold is a nice touch especially since they made him look like Arnold from 1984.

Obviously the skynet central computer thought there was something special about Kyle Reese when they plucked him out of the crowd of prisonsers. It even recognized his name and everything. And he was put into a separate cell in the lab. But why? I guess we'll find this out in the sequel?

Notice also, there was ZERO mention of time travel in this film. They're saving that for the next 2 I guess?

fuck, the studio pushed for a PG rating so they could get more money by targeting a larger audience...yet it got beat up by NIGHT OF THE FUCKING MUSEUM at the boxoffice. That's fucking embarrassing.

They SOLD out (cut R rated scenes) thinking that they would make more money. Instead they got crap reviews, which deterred movie goers. KARMA!

But Skynet underestimated the nature of human will power. He is the one and only model of its kind. Can't believe you missed that it explained the whole movie.

Naw I think you brain is permanently switched off. Skynet still needs to kill the Connor of the future. Killing Reese would stop him from saving Sarah, but the future Connor (Bale) would still ultimately defeat Skynet. Therefore he would need to kill BOTH of them.
