2 is the base of the binary number system because in this system we have only two states 0 or 1 that ways he writes 2 ans before this he wrote 10 because in decimal system he have ten numbers 0 to 9 hope you will understand now.

i understand where u got the 4 (the amount of places?) i am totally confused .. i am rubbish at math tbh i want to learn jus need in depth help u see

2 came from the fact that we are dealing with 2 digits. Before it was 10 because we were dealing with 10 digits. Hope this helps.
