If you were to do some decent research about the LFA you will be surprised at what an accomplishment it really is.
The LFA was designed and built piece by piece "in-house", which means they did not outsource any parts or design outside of Toyota, with exception to Yamaha's tuning of the exhaust, but Yamaha is partly owned by Toyota.
Even Ferrari doesn't build their cars 100% "in-house". They get electronics from GM, carbon fiber parts from outside makers... etc.
@dan8852 Actually the engine's architecture came from Toyota's 3.0 Liter V10 from F1. Yamaha only helped to tune it, they did not design nor build it "numb nuts".

4.8 Liter V10 with a specific output of 115hp, yet it is a 100% forged motor (unlike Ferrari), it has a crossplane crank and can rev from 0-9000rpm in .6 seconds (unlike Ferrari's flatplane engines, which should rev faster and higher than a crossplane)

It was not about price it was about weight. The LFA engine is as light as a V6 and the size of a V8. Plus a V10 has less reciprocating mass than a V12 and that is what gives the LFA engine such a "happy to rev" quality!
I am pretty sure Lexus engineers knew what they were doing! And remember this car was built entirely "in-house", not even Ferrari can say that.
People don't seem to understand nor realize that the wealthy buy something normal people can't. Exclusivity! This car may not be worth $375K or whatever to the normal average person who is looking at it from a "bang for buck" sensibility but the wealthy will buy it because it's new, it's rare & some kid from down the street WON'T be driving one, unless he's multi millionaire himself.

It's a car that will pave the way for future lexus high performance cars. I see it like the Ferrari Enzo, a crazy expensive car that ferrari has never built before. A couple of years later, it wasn't even hyper-fast anymore (carrera GT, Zonda, SLR got in the mix). But nonetheless, the Enzo paved the way for the 599 v12.
So let's just all sit back and quit complaining. Instead, we should thank Lexus for starting down the path supercars, and we should thank the people who will buy the LFA.

nurburgring is the best and most famous test track for any supercar. twists and turns there are insane and dangerous. all supercars have a track time there and LFA is expected to be among the leaders when its track time is officially posted.

Its pushing the car to the very limit which is why every single supercar/high performance vehicle is tested on the ring to see where each stands. They designed the intake tract acoustics and the exhaust acoustics, thats hardly Yamaha designing the engine!
Like I said before the LFA's V10 is based off of Toyota's 3.0 V10 from their first years in Formula 1.
They don't need help from Yamaha to design an engine, they borrowed their research into acoustics, got it, okay now go play your accordion!

Nobody in that price range is on a budget, stop crying about the price, I have nowhere near that kind of money but I enjoy reading and hearing about what Lexus has built, People always talk shit about stuff they cant afford, If you hit powerball tomorrow you will have this car on the top of your list. A lot of people cant afford a Honda Accord, I dont hear them saying the car sucks.

I don't understand why, when money is no concern, that manufactures don't use V12's for the built-in balance and smoothness. Surely, it wouldn't cost a lot more? Anyone who's going to buy this dashing machinery isn't going to complain about $20,000 more anyways...

@michaelthepsycho A 72 Degree V10 has the same inherent smoothness & balance of a 90 degree V12,
It was not about price it was about weight. The LFA engine is as light as a V6 and the size of a V8. Plus a V10 has less reciprocating mass than a V12 and that is what gives the LFA engine such a "happy to rev" quality!
I am pretty sure Lexus engineers knew what they were doing! And remember this car was built entirely "in-house", not even Ferrari can say that.

car of that size would only weight 4-500 pounds more if it was metal. Sorry to say, 300k more vs that much in weight drop can be EASILY compensated for 1/10 of 300k.

After reading all these comment I realized nearly all these people can't even afford this car, why complain about the price when let alone you don't have the income to support it. rather if you have the money it wouldn't be a problem for you, there only 500 and it only meant for the super rich, but for us individual we shouldn't have the right to complain because more then most of us are only going to see it on a picture.

two reasons: 1) they want one but can't afford it, frustrated and blame Lexus for overcharging. 2) opportunity to badmouth Lexus which they have always hated because they have resource to be legit threat to European supercar makers that have traditionally dominated the market segment. others don't care about the market but just to hate because it's Japanese made.

Just because I don't like lexus doesn't mean I'm an ignorant fool; I actually do like a lot of the car manufacturers that have started in the last 10 years. And yeah, people will be hesitant about a new brand and a new car with no history, I bet you were when the LS first came out. Why not? I can say whatever I want. I understand this is good for lexus because its their first supercar but they built it purely to get a piece of the growing supercar market which seems very typical of them. I think Lexus is building the LFA for different reasons than the supercar companies. I know that sounds naive but its hard to explain. I also don't like the car itself, at all. That's just the way I feel about it

It's a car that will pave the way for future lexus high performance cars. I see it like the Ferrari Enzo, a crazy expensive car that ferrari has never built before. A couple of years later, it wasn't even hyper-fast anymore (carrera GT, Zonda, SLR got in the mix). But nonetheless, the Enzo paved the way for the 599 v12.
So let's just all sit back and quit complaining. Instead, we should thank Lexus for starting down the path supercars, and we should thank the people who will buy the LFA.

nurburgring is the best and most famous test track for any supercar. twists and turns there are insane and dangerous. all supercars have a track time there and LFA is expected to be among the leaders when its track time is officially posted.

wow you really dont know about the nurbergring?. Im suprised. Its not only about 0-60 times and turning around in a circle pulling g's. Its pushing the car to the very limit which is why every single supercar/high performance vehicle is tested on the ring to see where each stands. GT-R is a great car but the you cant compare it to the LF-A in terms of build quality
