@harleymaori u don't get it do you? a helmet is design to protect our head and skull in a crash (falling action from a bike). if you hit your head on to the road, the helmet will give protection. the speed from a crash may exceed 100km/h but the speed that your head hit the ground is not 100km/h. rider will experience a serious injury not from the head but from the other parts of the body. stand aside a road and let a lorry hit you while doing 100km/h with helmet on. you will get neck injury

Are you people kidding me. This is just one of many test given to an arai helmet. I crashed at a 130 mphs with a arai helmet and walked away. Hit my head very very hard. I will never go with another brand of helmet. Hope arai keeps up the good work

It's the INSIDE of the helmet that needs to be good at absorbing an impact. Not the outside.

When you have an accident you hit something with a large surface area (like, umm, the floor) and the helmets job is to gradually slow your head down so your brain doesn't get bounced around.

If you want a helmet that is designed to stop high-energy impacts to a small area then go buy yourself a ballistic army helmet.

thing is, most impacts are frontal impacts, unless you crash into the gates at a kiddy park and land head first on the climbing frame!

the point of these tests is not to see if there will be any penetration.

by hitting the helmet, they measure how much energy is absorbed by the helmet, and how much is passing on the riders head.

so i think it's a pretty important test, and i would never trust my life to a low quality helmet...

but in general, a low quality helmet would be one that cant ventilate correct, one with foggy visor, one with cheap feeling linen inside that may even cause allergy to your skin.
