  • Bronies are loving and tolerant. and it be true enough

  • I'm a woman and i can't tell difference between peach color or salmon. It's a fruit and a fish to me hehe

  • Jewish people are good at dealing with money... that's a "good stereotype"

  • im a asian and im dumb as hell

  • Good stereotype? I guess that white people are successful, I mean there could be a not successful white person but it's something they *can* change for the better so I guess that's a good stereotype.

  • -asians are smart. they produce more electronics than anyone else.

    - people are good at sports. technically black is the lack of color and white is every color combined. but they do have more NBA people.

    - gays aren't good at fashion. apparently girls are.

    - the US isn't the fattest country. Antarctica is a country and a continent in one.

  • I'm SKINNY, so I MUST be anorexic. I'm a NEGRO so I MUST carry a gun. I'm BLONDE, so I MUST be a ditz I'm JAMAICAN so I MUST smoke weed. I'm HAITIAN so I MUST eat cat. I'm JEWISH, so I MUST be greedy. I'm GAY, so I MUST have AIDS. I'm a LESBIAN, so I MUST have a sex-tape. I'm ARAB, so I MUST be a terrorist. I SPEAK MY MIND, so I MUST be a bitch. I'm a GAY RIGHTS SUPPORTER, so I WILL go to hell. And there are so many more that people are so blind about...I absolutely hate stereotypes.
  • Even if the Asian is good at math, the person of color is great at dancing and sports, and the gay is good at fashion, it's still oppressive. It's accrediting their talents to the group and not to the individual, which can lower their self-esteem.

  • I have a horrible sense of fashion, and I'm fine with it =D

  • Love it haha. All my friends want me to go shopping with them cause I'm gay. I got the your gay you have good fashion sense... No I have good fashion sense because it's a passion of mine and something I love not cause I'm gay... And I have some spanish blood so they all think I can dance amazingly which again isn't true I can dance well because I practiced and was taught at a young age. Grrrblah, it's so frustrating that I don't like telling people what I am, oh and I'm also Egyptian so I mist

  • Another point you could make about positive stereotypes is that it devalues the achievements of individuals. If you're black and good at dancing, people will be less impressed than when a white person does it. Eventough you put just as much effort into becoming good.

If you needed to put less effort into it, then people will credit this to your skin color. Where as in fact this just means you have more talent, which should make YOU more impressive.

  • I ALWAYS GOT ANNOYED BY "GOOD" STEREOTYPES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whine, whine, whine, bitch, bitch, bitch, nag, nag, nag.

  • You are stereotyping stereotypes as being inaccurate and exaggerated. Empirical social science research, instead shows that stereotypes are often accurate.

Evidence also shows that people will not rely on stereotypes when relevant personal information is available.

(Stereotype Accuracy: Toward Appreciating Group Differences. (APA))

This is not to say that stereotypes cannot have lasting negative effects, but you need to be careful about over simplifying the issue.

  • Tall people are GREAT at basketball. I'm 6'2" or close and I wear glasses. People that don't know me either assume I play basketball and that I'm good at it OR that I am really smart and good with computers...

I don't really play sports and I'm as good with a computer as anyone who doesn't live under a rock. That's just a few of the many stereotypes and all I can say is that stereotypes need to stop, they're annoying as hell.

  • as bad as stereotyping is... it is unavoidable! i mean people meet people who are different from them everyday... ohysically, socially, culturally, sexually... and we as humans like to make sense of the difference so we categorize them into groups to make them seem less scary and more familiar! but exposure and education helps people understand these differences in a less scary way so as to avoid discrimination, prejudice and bashing of any kind!

  • I'm gay and I'm not good at all at fashion, actually I couldn't care less about fashion. Good or bad, stereotypes are still stereotypes so they cannot be any good

  • A lot or social skills humans posses which are generally considered bad are actually vitally important from an evolutionary standpoint. If homo sapiens were inherently altruistic without the ability to read into social signals (and thereafter manipulate the situation based on these signals), our species would be extremely different, if it existed still or not.

I'd love to make a video response, but I have no video camera--I love sociology (specifically the psychology of sociology).

  • Now, obviously this isn't the case since we don't run from lions tigers or bears. Instead, this natural tendency to categorize everything has turned into stereotyping, which clearly lets you separate different people into different groups quickly with minimal brainpower (which is exactly what we're evolved to do in the first place). Imagine if human beings could not categorize things so easily, how that would affect our species even now.

  • I would just like to point out that stereotypes exist for a reason. Humans naturally categorize things (generally as good vs bad) which they view as important. These categorizations at first were very advantageous. For hundreds of millions of years, they consisted of, "Lion bad" or "tribesman good". In other words, categorizing is a survival advantage (since it allows quicker reactions in dangerous situations.

  • No stereotype is a good stereotype. Your point I'm guessing, which is very true. Everyone is who they are without needing labels.

  • The only true stereotype for any group is that we're all human beings. :D

  • I like your point of views, wonderful video.

  • ur right, i was nodding my head the whole time

  • I'm gay, I'm a good dancer, my fashion sense is non-existent, and I'm smart. lol xD

  • it hurts so much more when it comes from a gay guy; "You're such a stereotype, it's your fault that people see us this way." Even within the vicitimised the camp gays are victimised by certain people. It's a little bit disheartening - a bit like gay guys being disdainful of lesbians, and then all gays being disdainful of bisexuality...obviously this is not true for everybody, because that would be STEREOTYPING, but it is true for a surprisingly large number of people.

    Thanks for the video :)

  • i like how this video can relate to everyone :}

  • im totally fed up with all this shit!!!! "why are you gay? why do u like men?...." questions from people around me.........im sick of that! why does gays have to give a statement about their sexual orientation?

  • Lets see. Women are good multi taskers. and The younger generation are great with computers. I am not a women but I know many who cant do more then one thing at a time. And i am only 24 and in truth. Computer talk just gives me a headache.

  • (dude, you're pretty hot and you make sense, i like that!)

Gay stereotype that i like : "gays are emotional". Listening and expressing your feelings mostly leads to more dialogue (at least that's what i think), and more understanding. So that's cool and I'm glad that i'm more sensitive than average and able to express myself. But you're right, it can also make people feel bad if they don't express those feelings. I like the fact that you're thinking outside of the boxes =)

  • In reality, why does anyone give a fuck? Good or bad, just stfu.

  • OH AND OTHER STEREOTYPE I HATE, "GAYS WILL TRY TO HOOK UP WHIT YOU EVEN KNOWING YOU ARE STREIGHT

  • I HATE GAY STEREOTYPES, I HATE THAT PEOPLE USE THE WORD GAY LIKE IT MEAN FEMENINE, I HATE WHEN GAY PEOPLE SAY THEY HAVE A "RADAR", I HATE WHEN STRAIGHT PEOPLE SAY THEY ARE "OK" WHIT GAY PEOPLE BUT THINK GAYS ARE FEMENINE

I EVEN HAT WHEN PEOPLE SAY ALL GAYS ARE GOOD LOOKING AND FRIENDLY

HAVE YO HEARD SOME ONE SAYING "THATS SO STRAIGHT"

  • @mekine45 Wow I agree so much with everything you said. I could add that I don't care about GaGa, Britney, Cher, Kylie etc.

  • Im gay and I feel offernded by the gay fashion stereotype because I totally HATE fashion

  • I'm asian! hell yeah i'm crap at math. And hell yeah everyone in my school is like "I thought chinese people are really good at math" and it really hurt. So yes, I TOTALLY agree with you, and amazed at how you calmly dealt with KyleCapone =)

  • Personally, I don't think you can characterize them as good or bad, since such thoughts are narrow-minded and heavily polarized. According to you, it's either black or white and there's no gray area. The REAL issue is whether stereotypes have their merits and can be justified in our society. I completely understand since I'm both gay and black how one might not feel like they "live up" to all of the generalizations placed on them by society.

  • I totally agree with firewalker btw lol.

  • Very good and it's educational too lol.

  • Stereotype is not synonymous to bad. A better synonym would be statistic. Stereotypes are not inherently bad; most recognize a cultural tendency as observed by members of a society. This is simply data which is neither good or bad. The way our society normally utilizes stereotypes is bad. Stereotype-based prejudice leading to discrimination leading to oppression and internalized oppression is bad.

  • I just saw somebody calling you overly sensitive as if it was something bad. I'm sick of emotionally handicapped people that think it's wrong to be emotional, not knowing how productive that actually is.

  • @Firewalkerbg I really like what you said. Having emotions is very important. I can be very sensitive sometimes but I don't think I'm so much that people can't enjoy anything. I always explain why it upset me and if they get it and and don't do it anymore, I easily forgive. Anyways, I hate when someone says I overreact. I react as much as I think is necessary usually. I only react like that to things that are really important to me, although that person might not always realize why it's (cont.)

  • @Firewalkerbg ...important until I explain it. Anyways, I do think that emotions are important. Empathy might be one of the most important. If you try to feel what the other is feeling and put yourself in their place; if everyone did that, and treated everyone else how they would want to be treated, the world would be a better place.

  • @Firewalkerbg However, I have been known to ridicule people who I think have really wrong views. But I have well-constructed reasoning to back it up.

  • Some of the worst stereotypes/expectations that the majority of people nowadays think is perfectly acceptable is penis size. What a shallow thing to expect of someone, as if you can choose the way your body looks...

  • @SaruCharmed I'm really enjoying the way you think, and you actually seem to know yourself pretty well, which is a good point.

As a matter of fact, I've had prejudice about not so hung men. I got this boyfriend that was a lot less "gifted" than any other man I had been with before him. I wish I knew how wrong I was. This guy was the best lover I've ever met and not only he knew how to pleasure himself, he knew how to provide me with pleasure too. Not many top guys seem to be like that lately...

  • @Firewalkerbg Exactly. It's not the size, it's how you use it. Besides a kind affectionate person with a little dick is better than a douche with a huge one.

  • @Firewalkerbg Yeah totally lets everybody call bad things handicapped gj or we can say black people or gay people yeah totally you are so smart

  • @mrgayest123 The phrase you are referring to is "emotionally handicapped", which was clearly aiming to point out that the lack of emotions might be a form of disability. It wasn't a case of calling bad things handicapped. I don't know how smart I am, but you sure need to improve on your English understanding skills.

  • totally agree! but some stereotypes are kind of true as a tendency not as a total generalisation, but people in your categories tend to do what you said! great video though!

  • All Germans are bossy - I am German, and yes, I am bossy and I love it :P

but seriously Dan, can you keep the background music in the background plz?

  • ehh i dont even know anymore dan idek, im unsubscribing. ly byezzies nucca

  • you should talk about foot fetishes :D

  • @timfaithfan90 he toootally should!! (double :D)

  • so basically moral of the story is, i have had a bad background after being bullied and labeled but now i am living away from my family and with my boyfriend and we work on a website, search for pinkster on facebook. would love to make a feature or a group for your videos on the website @GDProphetXVII just wanted to see what you thought? facbeook? (kevv22(at)hotmail(dot)co(dot)uk)

  • I dont know very much about stereotypes although i guess i have kinda been stereotyped for the way i was as a young gay guy growing up in a family where it wasnt acceptable to be gay, in my dads words, "your willy is to make babies with and that's all" and because i didnt play sports or have girls round for dinner and i liked performing arts and and art and design, i was called fag and poof and queer by everyone around me. :( i cant post my webpage lol :(

  • Well, I agree, but I don't. Stereotypes are bad and I hate them just as much as you, but if it's true, then don't down yourself for that. Like, I'm half black half hispanic and can't dance for beans. But I know plenty of black and hispanic folks that can dance very well. Are they trying to live up to a stereotype? No, they just have sweet moves lol. But again, just because you fit into that demographic, doesn't mean you have to "do like the Romans do". I know black kids that love country. Be you

  • you make a good point

  • ur right us guatemalans are supposed to be good at soccer but i suck at soccer and almost everyone says the same thing to me "arent guatemalans good soccer players"

    i hate it ._______.

  • Dude EVERYBODY stereotypes in some way shape or from

  • I could see your boobies in that singlet, hot! Can you talk about fag hags, you know chics close to gay guys that cock block etc?

  • All stereotypes are fallacies because you just can not generalize. I am mexican and I don't like spicy food, does that makes me a bad mexican? Same with the gay thing, I know nothing about fashion...

  • i love stereotypes! for those who got a sense of humor, and not afraid to laugh of themselves, are awesome! stereotypes is a good way to look up to, make fun of others and yourself...

Norwegian: rich and good at anyhting... Viking courage :D

Swedish: beautiful, good to sing and love eurovision xD

French:.... sorry, got nothing positive to say xD

Italian: know what good pizza is

i think some are good... STEREOTYPE LOVE! :D

  • I'm a bad gay! 01:40

  • There may be no go stereotypes but if you use them to better yourself I see no harm in them. But nothing in the world is all good or perfect. It just how you view things and how you chose deal with them, besides you can always turn a positive into a negative.

  • Stereotyping is not necessarily a negative concept - it refers only to unjustifiably fixed or standardized mental images. As someone here already said, the negative element comes with how people use or abuse them.

British like tea, Americans prefer coffee - are kind of neutral.

Gays are kind and friendly people - positive regardless of statistical truth.

Statements with "all" ahead of them makes them suspect; remove that word to find the stereotype.

Dan's videos challenge - often; positive.

  • I am a subscriber, and i hope that you dont take this worse than it is, but this is the worst video you have made. I have loved many of the others others are good. but this one i didnt like at all.

But in Norway we have a saying that the exception confirms the rule. So this is the exception that confirms that you make alot of good videos.

    Sincerely

    Jans en

  • A drunk cant have a good job

Someone with tattoos or facial piercing are out there mentally

  • Good stereotypes? well... gay guys are very/too friendly and.. ugh.. damn this is more difficult than it seems ;P

  • Here's a stereotype that's not true . . . All emo's cut themselves .

  • yeah this one time i was at a store with my friends and a family of African-Americans pull up and the dad gets out and asks what flavor drink they want and they all said grape and i felt racist just watching it... I think the thing is many people don't TRY to insult people by stereo-typing them with "good" stereotypes. but yeah I do agree with you. People are too ridiculous

  • @zechi1 You know, I must have missed class they day they taught that stereotype...I have no idea what stereotype exists about African Americans and drink...

  • @philipem01 'Tis a stereotype, I can assure you! :P

  • Yeah, I agree with Kyle. You're doing a lot of vids just for crazy controversial views. Are they even your own? I'm also unsubbing. Peace Dan.

  • Here is was rational poeple think when they meet a stereotype. Oh hello [insert stereotyoe here} im kyle. Oh wait ur {insert stereotype here} and you dont{insert stereotypical actvity here}oh thats kool then.

Not that hard guys... stop making things tha arent issues big issues

  • That's the point, stereotypes are about generalization, and that can't be good if you don't fit in it.

  • @rubenscaetano Ummm guys.. thats bull shit. Your actually trying to tell us that if an asian is bad at math. or that if a gay guy has bad fashion sense, that there like shunned and dont fit in.? What are you stupid! No one cares anymore! Its 2010! I am in no way the gay stereotype and i have a shit load of str8 friends and gay peopel like me too...i just get annoyed by them. People have lives guys.. they dont waste there time trying to see if someone fits in there damn steraotype.

  • @KyleCapone I have a Japanese friend who is fed up with other people making jokes about her being a martial artist... that's a fact. It can be good for someone who really likes it, but she's more into other stuff, like cooking. But hey, it's not like the end of the world...

  • @rubenscaetano What are you kidding me? Of course its a stereotype that Asians do martial arts. They came from Asia! Tell her to suck it up. No one os insulting her because of it jeez. I have an asian friend named chris and we always joke around becasue he is allergic to cats. Now what is the first thing you think of when you find out an asian is allergic to cats mmmm? Ya that connection you just made would be considered a stereotype and is it treally that big a deal.. no

  • @rubenscaetano And not everyone fits in with everyone thats called LIFE! Thats why theres so many frigin types of people! Find someone you can be your stereotypical or not stereotypical self with. Jesus people

  • @rubenscaetano "British can laugh at themselves" -stereotype demonstrated time and time again - so it's not good only for those Brits who don't agree that Brits can laugh at themselves - those who do, fit the stereotype (!!).

Because one doesn't fit the stereotype doesn't necessarily make it bad.

  • i just wanted to say hi...........sterotypes make me cry.........see you later.

  • Dan, don't hate on stereotypes. We rely on stereotypes in everyday life, and we can rely on them because of their truth value. Gaydar relies on secondary stereotypical traits of gay people. Doing something with a target audience relies on stereotyping. You're showing a great amount of ignorance with your "wharrgarbl, all stereotypes are bad, mmkay" attitude (thereby ironically negatively stereotyping stereotypes...wow). Stereotypes can be good; they just need to be used with good judgment.

  • This video reminded me of this quote “Labels are for filing. Labels are for clothing. Labels are not for people.”- Martina Navratilova :) I also like how you can remain calm on this topic. Keep up the amazing work!

  • @KyleCapone I'd be happy to have you unsubscribe. Your vast overgeneralizations are not just harmful for us as a community, but to yourself.

  • @GDProphetXVII My overgeneralizations are why I'm constantly told by people that I'm not annoying and cliche gay. It'sstereotypical gays like you that make me have to fight for the minority of gay people who have common sense.Your vast undergeneralizations are harmful to common sense. I bet you're the type who thinks women should be able to be prison guards in a mens prison. I also bet someoen suing the word gay offends you when they refer to something they dont like.

  • @GDProphetXVII Your the reason I cant satnd hanging with other gay people. You make us all look like idiots.

  • @GDProphetXVII SO TRUE! :P <3 How can people in 2010 say that stereotypes are good ?! OMFG! Get evolve !! I am gay, and I am not responding to most stereotypes and I still am gay and feel gay ! So if for you, @KyleCapone it is important to be stereotyped, then you might ask yourself if being yourself is a priority or if you are too busy trying to correspond to what other people want you to look like ?!

  • @KyleCapone just like you said, it's a way to say cultural tendency. So as a tendency it's what the majority of people members of a group are doing AT A CERTAIN MOMENT IN TIME. BUT that doesn't mean they ALL act the same way or do the same or have the same thoughts. That's why stereotypes are wrong, 'cause they make people think that ALL (not a few) members of a community or social group, act the same way, when it's totally obvious they don't. Do you even read what you write on your comments?

  • @Alberto9871 Look guy. No one thinks EVERY person of that cultural group is going to act like that stereotype, The stereotype is that A LARGE NUMBER of people of that group will. If you go into a gay bar, I think you already know how the majority of those people are going to act.and do you know whats thats called Alberto?..... Stereotyping! It's just how the human mind works. You better learn how to argue if you wanna go against me.

  • @KyleCapone I know for sure how to argue, you just don't seem to understand what I meant. It's true people tend to think/expect certaing things of a large number of people of a social group. But what Dan was trying to do is point out that is wrong to do that. Using your logic, for instance, if you go to a straight club you might think (not know) those people are just going to drink until they pass out and have indiscriminate sex. And that's just wrong. You shouldn't assume anything.

  • @KyleCapone and I have to say I agree with desktopmarco because the phrase "typical ignorant overly sensitive gay person" is another stereotype as he says in his comment. You may think is right to "know" beforhand how someone is gonna act. Well I have news for you Kyle: IT IS WRONG. And let me tell you even if studies or the word on the street say that a "large number" of people is acting a certain way, that is not necessarily true. I could easily think you are a conformist person. But I don't.

  • @KyleCapone I think Dan is just challenging - and you know he is not afraid to make a point even if he is unsure of his facts - he and us, we learn from the exchanges. Your example is great - "typical ignorant overly sensitive gay person" - an insensitive use of a bad double stereotype. "Fight for the minority of gay people who have common sense" - that's another one. "Other gay people" . . . "make us look like idiots" - wow, you're really shining, Kyle. Thanks so much for these bad gay images.

  • @KyleCapone

Upon seeing your comment, I couldn't help but feel the need to reply.

You, yourself, stereotyped homosexuals as ignorant and overly sensitive. I must disagree with that statement. I believe that most of the American population is that way, not just homosexuals. If your opinion is correct, however, I'd have to assume you are gay yourself. If you are in fact strait, then please refrain from being a hypocrit and please practice what you preach.

  • @KyleCapone Stereotypes are an evil thing. They allow someone to glob other people together into groups they might not belong to. Everyone deserved to be treated as an individual with their own beliefs, morals, and personality.

  • In asia there is a HUUUUGE emphasis on school and especially math. When they come to America of course they put the same emphasis in learning on there own childred. This is a stereotype that is true. If you don't agree with this ur just denying the facts. Lets take blacks and basketball. Its widely known alot of innercity kids play basketball.Where as suburban kids would most likely play football.. that is a strereo type.... and guess what... IT'S TRUE!

  • All stereotypes are based on cultural tendencies. They don't just pop out of nowhere and there are always exceptions, but lets be honest here people, gays tend to dress in a certain way, black people tend to be better at basketball and dancing and asians are generally smarter at math. All of those things are prevalent in there cultures so of course its going to be generalized. Heres another stereotype. Gay men [im also gay btw} tend to be overly politically correct and im sick of it.

  • Lol my close group of friends jokingly tell me that I am the worst gay ever because I am not into fashion, and we go ice skating a lot and I out right suck at it

  • Why do u have to look so damm fit all the time

  • good vid dan! also... um.... why are you wearing a cross if you're an atheist? (ok, agnatheist, but your definition of agantheist is the same as atheist) just kinda wondering. haha, im an atheist, and i dont wear crosses, in fact, i draw satanic symbols all over my stuff (not cause im a satanist!!!!!) but cause its an inside joke to me... cause everyone thinks "atheist = devil worshiper"

    so yeah... why cross?

  • For someone who dislikes stereotypes you sure arent afraid to use them. For example see your Columbus Day video in which you adopt a southern accent to emphasise your impersonation of a patriotic american giving his blind faith to the state. It seems that you have a prejudice against people form the south when you do stuff like that.

  • Good stereotype: all gays are very friendly/personable.

  • Every video I watch reminds me of why I'm subscribed to you. <333

Another "good" stereotype I hear a lot: lesbians are really handy.

  • Couldn't agree more, though more often than not people create the very stereotypes that they hate.

  • Eskimo's live in Igloos. That's what someone told me about me once. I was pissed! And I'm gay, but I'm definitely fashionably challenged.

  • Eskimo's live in Igloos.

  • "Good" stereotype: All swiss speak every language spoken in Switzerland plus English.

  • @nostalgicnineties I admit that would be great, a super stereotype - unfortunately most are not that good, but there are indeed many who come close.

  • @desktopmarco

  • "Good" stereotype: Men from Italy, Spain, and sometimes other countries, are good lovers.

  • I like when you wear tank tops :)

  • I suck at fashion :O( I am a bad GAY :O(

  • I suck at fashion :O(

  • Stereotypes are a form of mindlessness.

But, they could also be a way to be mindful.

    This argument goes nowhere.

  • Another awesome vid, Dan. Love u!!! <3

  • Asians are bad drivers. black people love watermelon. all lesbians dress like dudes.

  • @fandude15 lol just like your mom shes a hazard on the road, never stops eating and looks like a man :D seriously thats not cool to say guys dont let stereotypes go to your head, cuz it will consume you, and fandude 15 i didnt mean this directly, i bet your moms a nice person i just used it as an example of how people will react, its never worth to judge ppl

  • See, I'm Asian (part Vietnamese, actually) AND gay. So, I'm supposed to be good at math, decorating, fashion, and painting nails.

Incidentally, I AM extremely good at math, and I DO have a better fashion sense than most people I know... BUT, I can't paint nails to save my life, and interior design isn't really my thing...

  • you cant be mad at a stereotype if you fit that stereotype

  • @natnunnfan I think you're missing the point. No one would care about stereotypes if not for the REACTIONS and treatment that comes with them.

  • you are so f'ing cute :D love ya

  • be mine? thanks babes ;)

  • DFTBA!

  • Well, while it has probably been brought up through out the 86 other comments, I would think an excellent example is the stereotype about black (or at least non-Caucasian) men having above average penis sizes.

Those who don't "fit" this have to deal with feeling inferior. Those who do (if they aren't complete douchbags) have to deal with the dehumanization and paranoia that comes from the volume of people who do or seemingly came for that reason. Object, not person (speak from experience).

  • I think stereotypes are true when speaking about large numbers of people say 100,000's. The problem is when u try to apply a stereotype that is true in large magnitudes of ppl and trying to judge an individual on that basis. Blacks are good a sports - see percentages of NBA/ NFL/ Track and field - the stats do not lie. Is every individual black person great at sports no. Look @ fashion - a disproportionate number of designers are gay - can I dress well? no. So its about trends in v. large groups

  • 1) gays are camp

    and I am not

  • FUCK Stereotypes.

  • nice nips

  • More "good" stereotypes:

    1) Asian people are great at academics and music

    2) Ethnic people are better at singing and are more well endowed

    3) Gay people are very fun and bubbly

    4) Indian people are great technicians

The problem with "good" stereotypes is that they imply that that's all that those people can be good at. If you say that Asian people are smart and Homosexuals are preppy, then it's saying that an Asian person can't be preppy or that a gay person can't be smart.

  • I totally agree with you, Dan, and I'm not just agreeing because I love you, I am honestly agreeing :) Keep making great vids!

  • Know people before you judge them; to Assume is to make an Ass out of U & Me. So next time when making an Ass out of yourself, don't drag me down with you...

    - World Peace Bitches!!

  • never thought about it this way <3

  • Positive sterotypes make those in the group look down upon if they do not live up to them.

    .

    .

Click my name and see ALIENS invade the MOON!!!

  • I always love when gay people are assumed to be good at fashion. Cue the jeans I've had for fifteen years and the hoodie that's three sizes too big :)

  • i think these are way to many words for "don't think in boxes, people are different!" ;)

  • I think we need a video with your boyfriend in! :) He sounds awesome && Maybe we could have a coming out story from him too? Just a thought... Thanks! :D

  • I like stereotypes, and stereotyping. I know it is "assholish" of me, but I find them funny, and quite often they prove true, at least for the ppl i know. Sure, some are definitely bad, but I have an asian friedns who is good at math, and he loves when i ask him to help me do math work, im gay and i do have fashion sense, but after many years of looking and feeling blah i changed my appearance, and th entire basketball team at my university is black. Stereotypes exist cuz they r sometimes tru

  • I think that maybe the best way to combat stereotypes is just to acknowledge that they exist and rise above them. In other words, just be yourself (unapologetically). I actually find stereotypes kind of humorous... I will be the first to admit that even though i'm half-black, I can hardly dribble a basketball. lol Or... yes I'm gay and yes I Love Beyonce and "Sex and the City"! lol Just be confident with who you are whether you are fitting stereotypes or breaking them.

  • @halfbro Exactly. Well said :)

  • I was thinking of not calling myself gay anymore simply because I don't fit the stereotype....Im not young or hot...I don't have money....I have no fashion sense....

I don't party.....not into showtunes...I dont drink....So, basically, Im just not gay....Im homosexual, yes...I likes the guys.....but gay....probably not. Im surprised at how these stereotypes really do make me feel self conscious and uncomfortable around other gays. I mean, how can I fit in if I dont fit the norm.

  • I don't get it!

  • ahah. It's be kinda funny if a gay blasian watched this. LOL.

  • I totally with your view on those stereotypes. For a very real example, I'm gay, BUT I'm not good at fashion, it's true I suck at fashion but I try to think I have good fashion sense ^_^.

  • Stereotypes are a double edged sword basically and looking good :)

  • Some 'good stereotypes are' All Hispanics speak Spanish, Black women are more attractive than white women, white women are rich

  • You know what I would like a video on? Racism without being racist. I know that makes no sense. Let me explain - I've got a bunch of friends that I hang out with that are not white. I'm fine by that. I love them all. A lot of my other friends don't understand, though, and a lot of times I hear from strangers that I'm racist because I hang out with other races, like I'm "taking pity upon them". I am in no way doing so. How do I get out of these stupid and untrue comments about me?

  • @samiulrich thats a difficult one! I had never heard of that happening before!

  • I like and agree with most of these comments... But there are reasons for "some" steryotypes. That doesnt, however, make them ok, but they at least have purpose. Like men are better at sports and women are more empathetic. (Majeric first suggested this one.) But that steryotype is more often than not, true... because of the genetic makeup of our bodies.

Its like the difference between judgeing and pre-judgeing. Ones a neccessary evil (judgeing) and the other is totaly wrong (pre-judgeing)

  • English have bad teeth, we all drink tea and speak posh.

    HOW.

    ABOUT.

    NO.

  • @AdamOnlineXII those dont sound good :P but I get what you're saying!

  • You're like a hot looking Gollum, or is it just the meds talking.

  • @korisx bitch it better just be the meds.

  • @GDProphetXVII It was also for the reaction too :P. I'm just kidding you don't look nothing like Gollum lol.

  • I have horrible fashion scene, but my boyfriend's is great and he is a hair dresser and wears make up and every thing

  • I don't know...I kind of LIKE the stereotype of Gays being the arbiters of fashion! That allows me to keep my apartment full of kitsch like the three flying ducks wall hangings, and laugh off any attempt to make me change. I just wish I knew what happened to Granddad's picture of dogs playing poker!

  • I dare you to tie your hands behind your back in your next video! xoxoxo :) You talk with your hands a lot :) xoxo

  • I hate perpetuating stereotypes they're dumb I'm black

    1.I hate watermelon

2.I like fried chicken, who doesn't the black population is not the sole reason for the the existence of KFC

3.I'm not loud, dumb and no I don't have a baby daddy

I feel like sometimes we do settle into the stereotypes given to us by society I for one refuse to be defined by what people think I should be

  • @haja808 (Snicker!) I have lived in the same town for 16 years now, I eat KFC every month or so. I have never seen ANYONE in my KFC who wasn't white!

  • @haja808 but don't let that go so far as stopping you from doing what you want, just because it might step into a stereotype!

  • @haja808 yes haja i agree, but do you not agree that its not too uncommon for black people to have babydaddies in more rural areas? What do you think people just made that up? And i agree with you that watermallon and fried chicken is stupid to associate with blacks, but is it really a big deal if people do? It's like when blacks do the white people impression. Thats a stereotype, but you don't see them gettin all offended.
