  • Yoani did show in her arm and legs black and blues but is not on this video. Also, were talking about goverment agents that are trained, they do know where to hit so the beating won't show.

  • @Poneglyph Where in the video she said that she was beaten for 20 minutes?.

That video was taken a few days afte it hapennes. And on min.0:11 that does not count as a mark or her face?

And yes, you can hit someone without leaving any marks.

What tricks you think she is making, in Cuba you can't sue anybody so you can get some money, so that's out of the quiestion.

Yoani is recognized workdwide for her blog and all this is politically motivated.

  • She said she was beaten for 20 minutes in an interview for Veja - a brazilian magazine that declares itself against the cuban regime. I can scan it if you are skeptical.

You can hit someone and not leave a mark. But that's highly doubtful when you're talking about a very frail woman. And we're not talking about single hits, we're talking about a long beating for intimidation.

The other blogger that was with her has a single mark in his neck.

  • But really, my complaint against Yoani is not about this single incident. As I said, the point is: how the hell media gives her celebrity attention suddenly while other journalists and bloggers who suffer much worse fates for years already had ZERO attention till now?

And after all the massive fuzz around her persona, Castro could have simply made her disappear or take all her communication stuff. Yet there's just a doubtful beating and vanilla protests.

  • So the thing is:

    1. Yoani gets way more attention then any other dissident

    2. She does not speak equally harsh about the regime nor about socialism/communism

    3. The Castro spares her of all the brutality they used against other dissidents.

    This doesn't make any sense.

  • @Poneglyph Yoanis blog is translated in 17 languages. I think that they are making her as an example about the 'freedom of speech issue", but then again look what happen to Panfilo.

  • @Poneglyph You can't always believe what magazines and newspapers says, they try to exagerate situations. I beleive what she says with my eyes closed. I was borned and raised in Cuba and I know how they work.

  • That her blog is translated in that many languages is even weirder.

Veja is no small publication. It's the top selling magazine in brazil (1 million copies - Time magazine sells 4 million for comparison). Also it was a 'report', to be more specific. She sent a text to them, they just translated.

Also take a look at her "interview" with Obama in her blog. All the questions sum up to one single point. She wants Obama to recognize the Cuban regime and open for dialogue. That's disgusting.

  • @Poneglyph I think is more weird that after Obama let Cuba know that invasion was out of the question, Raúl Castro is preparing the country for an USA invasión. I don't think that Yoani wants EU to recognize Cuban regime, all she did was ask questions. Too bad people can't read in Cuba what Obama said.

I think is brilliant the Yoani has help to let the world know about the real things that happens in Cuba instead of the socialis propaganda Castro selsl the world.

  • I can assure you I'm not a Fidel spammer. You can look around youtube and you will find unmasking the left is one of my past times.

In fact, if you pay more attention to what I just posted below you would realize I'm in no way a supporter of Fidel or anything he defends. He should pay with his life for the multitude of lives he sacrificed.

  • @ Poneglyph

The only one that is a fraud here is obviously you. give me a break, and the only one who is coming out of nowhere is you. Start doing some research before you open your mouth.

Yoani Sanchez is one of world's top 100 most influential people. Named so by Time magazine.

Don't you feel a little stupid now? You have heard that song? "It's just me against the world".

That's exactly what you are, all alone in your little cloud of misinformation. But thanks for your effort anyway!

  • MilitantePCEparty or PCEsparty,

Same idiot with a different name!

I guess you live in your own little world, and you own another little island also called Cuba, where you make up your own little fairytale. That's very commendable that your imagination works so well. It worked for Walt Disney, look at what an empire a good imagination can build. Maybe you'll be just as famous someday. The only problem is you are going to get yet another name, because with this one you've burned your bridges.

  • MilitantePCEparty idiot,

On the other hand, It might just be all those knocks to the head might have killed everything in there, and your brain is in a vegetative state. That's dangerous, you shouldn't be let out of surveillance, you could hurt yourself.

You might need to contact the world news press that was present in Havana yesterday, and tell them they need to retract all their media coverage about the beating against Yoani Sanchez's husband. An make sure they destroy all the evidence.

  • MilitantePCEparty idiot,

Also make sure that everyone in the world that has seen in it, goes in for a lobotomy. You wouldn't want to leave any recollection in anyone's brain.

That's a surefire way you can continue with your UCI communist propaganda machine, full throttle. OH! Also make you you come after me, you don't want me chasing you around, discovering all of your secrets. I could be endangering you career as communist Cuba's government information machine. Keep up the not so good job!

  • Yoani said that Cuba does not pay to live. But Yoani eat every day, Yoani homeless, has Yoani computer, cellphone and Yoani Yoany is not working because she refuses to work

  • PCEsparty

The word idiot doesn't even began to describe you!

What happened, they canceled another one of your accounts, or is this one where you have an English translator? Because you sound just as idiotic when you write in English as when you write in Spanish. You've never been able to answer me in English before. I guess you used my suggestion and asked the Cuban government to provide you with an English translator or English classes. I'm glad you listen to some of the things I tell you.

  • C'mon people, we can't be critical of men and governments who beat women in other countries, while disregarding the beating of Yoani Sanchez and other women in Cuba. It's time to get real and drop the double morality.

  • Feeling angry and helpless about the reality of Cuba and hope that Yoani's International following will raise awareness in the US about this eyesore that lies at our feet.

  • What will happen after Raul Castro is done with Cuba?

Will we then allow him to pass the crown of his dictatorship to their sons. How far will the world allow this farce to continue. 11 million people implore freedom.

We, as citizens of the world, have a moral obligation to denounce this tyrannical reign. The Cuban people cannot do it without our support. They have no weapons, with which to uprise. Cuba's government forces are the only ones armed to the teeth with the former USSR's arsenal.

  • While the world celebrates the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, the Cuban people are kept in the dark about the celebrations. There's no media coverage inside the island, regarding the event. That would be like telling the Cuban people that they to might someday see freedom as well.

The only thing the Cuban people have to look forward to, is the new heir to the throne. The only self imposed monarchy in the world. 50 years of one Castro dictator, and on to the next.

    What's next?

  • She deserves a Nobel Peace price. Of course, the Nobel organization doesn't have the cojones to give her one.

  • how sad is that? damn communist!!!! they shall rot in hell

  • Thank you cubaninla Its shameful that president Obama has not comented on this. By now the whole world knows about this brutal attack on a defenseless young woman who's only crime is speaking her mind on the internet like we all do.

Cuba's totalitarian regime is shaking in its boots. They see they can't stop the information age and its ramifications. This is the 21st century, where repression can no longer hide behind censure, iron curtains and threats.

YOANI WILL NOT BE SILENCED !

  • Cuba does not have 200 hundred political dissidents, those are just the ones reported behind bars. What about the others that are to afraid to speak.

What Cuba has is an island prison. We demand our right as human beings, to be allowed free political elections. Not that mockery that Castro calls an election. We demand the right to be free of all forms of repression. We're human beings, not objects, what right should any government have to control anyone's thinking.

    WE DEMAND FREEDOM FOR CUBA!

  • There it is. Is anyone surprised ? Shall we now start to keep score on the moronic comments already coming down the cyberhighway from "el grupito" of commies, fidelistas, lazy ass capitalist-but-leftists-at-heart here ? Yes, Che's bottom feeders ( and we know you well ) will arrive soon with their little thumbs down, blaming this brave woman for her demise, or acusing her of being an instigator, bought and paid for by the "gusanos". Problem is, they can't stop her And they know it.

  • @cubaninla - I'd've called Cuba under Castro an island gulag, but . . . there's also the little matter of Che Guevara having murdered anywhere from hundreds to thousands of political prisoners, either directly or through the executioners of his firing squads.

  • When will the rest of the world decide to have rallies for our freedom? After all, we rally for everything else. Are the people of Cuba lost in the middle of the Caribbean ocean? We are only 90 miles away from the freest country in the world. If we can rally for AID'S victims, why can't we rally for Cuba's victims? They have no voice, or rather, not one than can use.

Is a hot vacation spot the only thing people care about? How can they continue to turn a blind eye, while they lay on our beaches?

  • people that lay on your beaches, bring momey for your people , without turism , Cuba no puede sobrevivir, y quien te dice que los turistas y la gente nel mundo no hace nada para ajudarlos?????? . It is tough to dig around in the dug heap of comunism, to find people that are not cobardes.

  • queenofshiba

I have a bit of bad news for the wonderful people that innocently believe that they are benefiting our people with their tourist dollars. That money goes straight into Castro's pocket. Very little of it actually affects the Cuban population, although I know that in most people heart, they want to help, once they see the situation that Cubans live in. For every dollar you spend in Cuba, another Cuban has less food on the table. It goes to feed tourist. No rationing required there.

  • queenofshiba

Most tourist don't realize that behind the tourist zone, the real Cuba begins. The Cuba of terror. You have obviously missed the point if you think Cubans are cowards. What exactly do you think this video is about. Are you unable to decipher what happens to people who defy a dictatorship? It's all here. You certainly don't know much about Cuban politics, although I don't blame you. That is why it is called an iron curtain, nothing is visible from the outside in, or vice versas.

  • queenofshiba

I'm very happy to see that not everybody is blindsided by the truth. You have an advantage that most tourist don't have, you have been going back time and time again. Most people go for vacation to the fancy hotels and never go past that.

You obviously have grown to care for our people, for you keep going back. As you can see, even you as a tourist has been confronted with the cruel reality, don't think for a moment the Cuban government deems your constant visits a coincidence.

  • If you have been detained before, you are under surveillance by the Cuban government by now, guaranteed. Id'e be careful if I were you. Cuba will pin that INFILTRATED SPY title on anybody, no matter what passport you hold. Please be careful.

I thank you for your honesty about what you have experienced in Cuba. We need people like you to tell the truth about what they know, So that the world stands up against the total violation of human rights that exist in Cuba.

    Cuba's freedom depends on us.

I'm glad to hear that you have learned how to take care of yourself, because you are potentially at very high risk. I commend you for your bravery in trying to help my people gain freedom. It brings tears to my eyes to know that you care. My whole family is in Cuba, suffering the unmentionable. We need the help of you and people around the world.

This is a critical moment in the liberation of our country, but we simply cannot do it alone.

We are begging for the world to join us.

  • queenofshiba

That iron curtain must be taken down to the bottom of the sea. So that once again we can live like human beings, not captive little birds at the hands of our cruel master, constantly clipping our wings so we don't scape.

We want the world to come to our country as tourist, but in a land of freedom, not a land of prisoners, so that you may all know what a wonderful people we are. Not these poor people that have been turned into indigents. in order to survive.

  • queenofshiba

We are a proud people with a spirit full of joy and optimism. Castro has taken that away form 11 million people living in captivity on that island. IT'S TIME TO OPEN THE CONCENTRATION CAMP

That is why we scream for freedom. Our people deserve the right to regain their soles from the devil that is Castro and communism.

God bless you and all that stand behind us in our quest for freedom.

    '

LONG LIVE A FREE AND DEMOCRATIC CUBA!

DOWN WITH THE TYRANNICAL EMPIRE OF THE CASTROS!

  • cubaninla

    I do agree with you a 100 % in all u said.

  • Even I as a child, at age 9, was considered a counter revolutionary. Simply because I didn't like the fact that Cuban government, didn't allow me to go to the local, hole in the wall grocery store, to buy a simply bar of cream cheese. How can that be a crime anywhere in this world?

Castro's government hasn't just beat Yoani Sanchez. It's beaten men, woman, even children. Incarcerated and even executed, depending on the luck of the draw. That's everyday life for Cubans, has been for 1/2 century.

  • Criminals!

That is what the Cuban government is made up of. Thugs that will beat an innocent woman because she raises her voice against the oppression of 11 million people. She denounces the atrocities perpetrated against our people, by writing on a blog. That is all you need to do in our country to be considered a criminal.

How much longer will the world watch silently, while the people of Cuba are muzzled under the fear of repression? How much longer must our people suffer, another 50 yrs?
