Do you have to heat tanks for Neocaradina shrimps? The plain marsh shrimp I've had 18 months is happy in room temp water with Firebellies and White- clouds.
The blue backgrounds were painted onto the outside of the tanks by us prior to fitting. Next tanks that are installed in the shop will have black backgrounds or root backing as I think that a light, bright background pulls the colour from the fish. i.e. many species have the ability to alter their colouration to suit their environment.
Root backgrounds (especially the 3D ones) really give an extra dimension to amazon themed tanks, especially with a dark sand substrate and bogwood with a few plants. You will see that all of our shop tanks have bogwood, plants or rocks in unlike most retailers who have very bare tanks. We like to think that we're keeping the fish happy.

Most species of caradina are fine at room temperature but are susceptible to rapid drops in temperature and ammonia.

Yes I noticed that.
Actually i think that a retailer should think about his shop and animals not the quick buck.
Your tanks seem to be populated ok, petshops usually overpopulate their tanks a lot.
Once I saw 100+ gold fish in a 30g tank.
in a bad petshop although people crowd the bad ones cuz they are misguided by the fancy dealer with a lot of fish.
