I disconnected the wiring harness under the passenger seat to install a sub on my 2000 Accord and it caused the SRS light to go on. The steps for the Honda Civic were similar enough that the reset procedure worked great on my car as well. Dan, thanks for the post and sharing this info it saved me from having to go to a dealer (or mechanic) to get the work done and spending $. Please ignore the negative comments from other viewers. Its called a reset if their is no problems in the car it will clear the code if thair is a problem code you need to fix thet first why cause the light will not reset

Light came back 400km after resetting it.

Went to Honda, apparently almost 90% of all of the Civic's in this ear have a problem with this light coming on, it has to do with the passenger side seatbelt sensor. It is covered under Honda (the sensor), but you have to pay for the SCAN(approx 100$) and the LABOUR (approx 1 hour = 100$). These rates are about the same in Canada and the USA.

When I practiced it took too long to insert and remove the paper clip.

I used three 2 inch copper wires instead of a paper clip. I inserted two wires into the yellow plug and used the last wire to connect or disconnect the wires.

It worked great.

@buchneski Mine came back. Turned out the seatbelt buckle has a sensor that affects the SRS. Free lifetime honda warranty. Dealer fixed for free.

U didnt plug it back in at the end of the test, all lights turn on with key power. Then off when running (unless activated). So then what was the purpose of the jumper clip?

OMFG! This worked perfectly on my '03 Element! It just took 2 tries and I needed the wife to watch for the light, but it worked! Mine had gone off after the dog bumped into the dash on a hard stop. This definitely works! Really really easy. Takes about 10 seconds if done correctly. I had problems at first but realized you need to have the ignition off, have the paper clip connected in and then turn it on. I tried it with the ignition already on and it does not work. Then I realized my mistake and it worked perfect!

Wow! Really Wow! A very helpful video! It took me hours looking for instructions how to reset it, and came up with other sites trying to sell modified resetting tools and some try to collect money to access the site.
