@H2Bdesign well first u open the fraps recorded vid in virtualdub and then go to file -> file information and check if the resolution is there.. if not u have either had fraps setup to record at half size or - but I doubt it - the game was recorded in a low resolution.. x480px height is pretty noticeable.. if the res is there u need to check that no resize filters are applied in v-dub and then check codec settings so no resize is done.. other than this I dont know

Legend, everything works beautifully as advertised. Thanks a bunch. (using Windows 7 64 bit, Virtual Dub 1.9.11, DivX codec 6.8.5 (full version), used Fraps v2.9.4 to record Terraria in 1080i, used DivX codec with Unconstrained profile at 6000 bitrate, 700mb file came down to 30mb, amazing!) this is stupid and complicated and you have to be really desperate....rather use Xilisoft Video Converter......just film with fraps,add to converting...choose options and RUN IT.....

i have a question about fraps. when i press the hotkey it records for about 20 seconds and then the framerate in the corner goes back to yellow and i have to press the hotkey again. Then i get several small videos in the place where i saved the videos. how can i fix this??? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ps3gamers9897 the free version of fraps only supports 30 secs of vid capture if you want to record more at a time you have to buy/ or bittorent =D the full version, plus even with the full version fraps will save in multiple vids if the size gets over like 4 gigs or something, which is easy since fraps records in huge file sizes. hope this helps

@hewhoeatspie if your codec's don't show up install the 32 bit version. If your already using the 32 bit version the try the 64. If this dosn't work try uninstalling the codec and reinstalling.

@hewhoeatspie Are you using the 64-bit version of VirtualDub? If so, you'll probably need 64-bit codecs.

Short answer: DONT use 64 bit vdub or vegas or whatever.. even if ur on win x64 the x86 32bit version should work fine...

@pmgitsdaniel commonly this problem can be solved by installing the 32 bit version of virtualdub ;) don't ask me why this helps I just know it does. Even if your using a 64 bit computer use the 32 bit virtualdub.

@pmgitsdaniel my guess is you have 32bit codecs and 64bit v-dub or viceversa although there are hardly any 64bit codecs to find... like I said above.. dont use 64bit virtual dub! its pointless... even on win 64 the 32 works perfect and it will read all your 32 bit codecs..

What *really* got me going was the suggestion to set the game to a lower resolution. My videos are still bad, but I am on my way to better ones.

When I play the game with that resolution, it looks BAD. But the video looks great.

@holyground180 fraps full version records whatever resolution your game is using. You can then playaround in your video editing program to find a good resolution.

What can I do when my srt file is off; for instance the start time of the DVD I converted to AVI, it has different start times, so all my subtitles off by a second. Is there a way I can start have Virtual Dub start at a designated point that will get the subtitles back in sync?

Why not just record it with virtual dub. The preview lags without fraps so fraps will sure as hell lag. Virtual dub records gameplay flawlessly as long as you have a decent computer and some knowledge.

@PsilocybinDream fraps saves almost UNCOMPRESSED frames. thats the cause of the file size. fraps has the ability to save Full size or Half size footage. Its in the movies tab. You get this high size cause it cant render the frames fast enough for high FPS rendering. so you need to render them with virtualdub afterwards to save space on your HDD. hope this helps.

This is tricky. Hope this helps. Fraps only runs inside games, I think. So unless you are in a game, it's not running. I could be wrong.

If the key assigned to start Fraps is used by the game, it still may not work, so try assigning another key.

you got that error because div x-doesnt accept any resolution .. it has some standards that require the framesize to be in multiples 4 for the width and 2 for the height
