The problem is OOO makes the creatures more dangerous, but does nothing to game NPC's or companions.. I run MMM and have a spell mod that allows me to make any NPC immortal.

IIRC Sir Roderics horse was a white horse, while Lathons was a chestnut horse.

IMPORTANT VERIAX - I figured out the most likely reason for your crashes, I had exactly the same problem with the Witcher 2 (awesome game by the way) and it was because of running out of RAM/too slow CPU, so the crashes will probably stop if you turn your graphics down a little bit. You can also test for mod conflicts, I can edit the mods to stop them from conflicting if you want.
