Oh, boy. Can Roland and Curt from Tears For Fears hold a class to show the new generation how to write and perform such kick ass music, as they are both former teachers................
You know, the world is standing on its head when this stuff is forgotten -- the genius that it is -- and the crap that sells to kids today is considered great.
Amen. Music today sucks...and the kids and MOST teenagers(i'm 18) get happy over it....:-( Ah well, let's count ourselves lucky to have come across Orzabal/TFF!
Essa música é altamente contagiante!! È formidável como a expressão corporal/facial/vocal de Roland Orzabal dá todo sentido ao que ele quer comunicar através da música. Poucos artistas fazem isso como ele!!
Anybody know if this song is about Roland's upbringing? I heard somewhere he had a rather violent upbringing. Great song no matter where it came from.
British in colonial india liked to cool themselves in summer and they frequented hills/gardens (Darjeeling )famous for Assam tea and Shimla (i visited it) near the himalayas
In the earliest hindu mythology, epic Mahabharat..there were 2 sects of people ( Aryan Pandavas, and evil Kauravas)
the Pandavas are tricked by a wizard (rolling the dice) ,gambling and they lose their kingdom and their wife.. Draupadi is disrobed naked..the Pandavas go into exile for 11 yrs into the forests. They return and with their mentor lord Krishna and Archer Arjun..the Kauravas are killed in the ancient battle in 3067 BC.Abhimanyu son of Arjun is killed in the chariot wheels of fire.
ok guys chill out, we shouldn't let our differences come out here in this page where this beautiful song plays. i guess we could all agree that, although we have our differences, we like the same song.
Honestly, I think everyone on the planet is racist to a certain degree - even the nicest people. I think its like a gene we have; for us to see something that looks different and act differently towards it.
Yeah, sure we are to an extent. Not as much as people were a few hundred years ago. We don't lynch black people or abuse the indigenous populations as much as we used to because we now all have basic human rights.
you should stop writing stupidities, you and your´´Aryan blood´´ can go to hell, and all the people that promote hate too.
this site does not need people that make remarks over skin color or race And Arnold has done nothing constructive in california he is a liar, the end of his career is around the corner forever. as politician he is just another loser.
Roland is a very well balanced man doesnt see life from the surface. I smile when I see his face and smile (^_^) most are ' shackled' by honesty ,or should be hehe
I agree he has matured . Seeing him live supports my agreement. Some people really do get better with age like a fine wine. As we age wisdom is only standing right in front of us... if we are non resistant we can allow it to encompass us and we grow gracefully with maturity as Roland has indeed. (^_^)
Yeah. I think he's really past that "pissed off at how fucked up my life was" stage that he was in during The Hurting years. But some of the old songs seem to really reflect how tough his life was.
It's good to see how mature he's really become and now he's come into the stage of "what's past is past and I can't change the way that I was back then vs the way that I am now."
I agree with you, I saw them live and they were just great. they really seemed to have fun on stage and just wanted to share their music with the fans. Roland is a cool and smooth dude and it comes across whe he speaks and sings. ewll, they both are very wise and kind guys.
Mr. Orzabal experiments with new sounds & evolves in a big way. ELAHE was nonetheless outstanding, maybe because they both were in a more mature place and could harmoniously put their ideas together. In Elemental, RO writes about breaking it down and the beauty of decay. Paraphrasing his own words, that means that something good always comes out when things change. Even when you think it is bad, if you get out of you comfort zone. He is undenialbly a genius in the contemporary music world.
they are great...memories...what are they doing now???

When Roland Orzabal first saw Curt Smith
when he advertised for a back up singer back
in the 80s,he thought he was from india !

And Curt thought Roland was an exchange student from France.

When Roland first went solo and his first solo video aired I was like "What the hell is he doing without the other half of the band?"?
It just wasn't the same band as it had been when Curt was with Tears For Fears because it just didn't have the same melodies.
