I heard the University Glee Club do this when my college choir sang with them a couple of years ago. They're a bunch of alums from some of the best choruses on the East Coast, including the Yale, Harvard, and Cornell Glee Clubs, and they sounded really good on this number. And one of them gave me his copy of the score afterwards! :-)
Out of all these songs that i have been hearing from IYC, i believe that this was the BEST done..... good choir, but men need to either sing out a little more or the women need to let down a little.... balance is a little bit off.... But not much... nothing you can do about it
thank you for your nice comments on the IYC videos!! I completely agree with you about the balance being off. That is one of this ensembles largest issues. But again, thank you so much for all of your comments!
I wish you had more of this song! I was in IYC from...2003-2006? I think? My sophomore and junior years and we sang this song back then! I was almost hoping this was us. I quit my Senior year of high school and I seriously regret it. I miss singing like that so much! This video brings back such great memories. :D Thank you!
I love this song, it's so crazy! Our director was Mark Butler, he made it really fun to sing. The sound really good, not sure about the last 'yield' though ^__^!
The Lakota West Mens Chorus, West Chester Ohio just recieved a catagory I. This song was one of three performed and they nailed it. They are going to the state finals. Yes I'm proud of my son but when this song is performed well it is so moving, so powerful, tears roll, audiances stand and God smiles!
This is such a great piece, I just performed a TTBB arrangment (the same version used for the Texas All-State Men's Choir in 2006) with my men's choir for competition. The only difference is that the two tenor parts sing the women parts down the octave. The only way to do this song justice is to inject your performace with the right level of emotion and adreneline mixed together. I know my choir did it justice, as does the choir in this video.
We sang it my first year of choir. It's easily my favorite piece... I even took a photocopy for myself (I was librarian). It's such a musical masterpiece in the arrangements and theory, but you only need to listen to understand the tremendous work it requires to pull off well, but when it is.... it's beyond angelically beautiful.
Great job on Quest...still gives me chills every time I hear it. Being a member of the mens chorus that was founded by the man this song was written in memory of really puts the song in a special place in my heart.

my choir is about perform a TTBB version of this... its just a bit slower in the beginning.
it sounds really with women in it...
the womens part really overpowers the men this one. the pause beforee the final yield is a bit odd too

Beautiful song...we did this for Honors Choir and our Seniors are doing it again. Good performance, but what happened to the beginning?
