I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old DOHC Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
Sounds awesome, but I have an X 1/9 and a 164. I already don't like working on the Alfa (a clutch change wasn't horrible, but not something I want to do everyday!). Did you make any provisions for maintenance? I do like how the fender liners come out on the 164, did you do something similar on the FIAT. I noticed the whole panel where the spare used to be is gone. Removeable? Anyway, who cares! The thing is going to be wicked fast!!!

we make 1600 cc engine for x 1/9.from 80 to 170 cv,carburettor or jenvey injection.2007-2008- italian cross championship winners.avalaible also for hillclimb races.
That's a Fiat X1/9 engine bay.. I can recognize it anywhere.. The notch on the rear crossmember is where the engine latches into. Yes, it's an Alfa engine IN an X1/9..
Maybe a VW DOHC VR6 engine would be more compact to install thats also a fine engine with good sound, most people dont realize the quality of that ultra compact and reliable V6
Oh My God Nick! I remember you! AWESOME car. Anyone who sees this video should know..this machine is for real! Takes the X1/9 to a level way in excess of what God intended. Wild.
Very cool. However, I don't know when this video was first posted, but I have my doubts that it is the "world's first" X1/9 using that Alfa engine. I am the owner of several X1/9s and attended the Club X1/9 Nazionale Raduno ("X1/9 World Days")in Italy in the summer of 2000, and a fellow came to the event from the UK with an X1/9 fitted with a 3-litre Alfa V6. I can't say for sure if it was the 24-valve version, though. Regardless, yours is an EXCELLENT effort@
That was our car!!! - see our P1X website for pics of it. This is the 2nd version and I believe the 1st ever 24v version. The car is now drivable and will shortly have an MOT - and yes its seriously quick - film to follow soon. Watch this space

Doesn't the extra weight in the rear disrupt the Fiat's fantastic handling and balance?
