  • I wish i could get my hands on this organ cut version, whoever has the master tape please run a few copies on to vinyl.....i can but dream.

  • 'Right about now the musical spotlight shines on the man like Mickey Simpson'...music me seh...wicked singer and tune truss...R.I.P Mickey Simpson yuh did big bout ya !

  • I remeber when Mickey Simpson was killed. great voice.

  • this tune is always about...... support your local revival shop, this tune is de bombbbbbbbbbbbb

  • Pure niceness back when man used to sing from the heart not for the love of money and material things...raw talent!!!

  • @adinalewis So Tru....

  • Mickey simpson :D I love the piano Playing by gladdy anderson:D

  • anyone know what the backing track is?

  • Mickey simpson was the bomb wicked singer/song writer before his time so was Ruby the heaviest sound i ever heard. A real soundmans sound. jack Ruby was probably the greatest sound ever. forget about the party sets like Stone \love et al. Jack ruby was the original. Does any body have the tape with Gemini in \Ochi where he played Evening News Delroy Wilson??/

  • I must admit it does look suspicious, at 22:00 sec he holds the microphone away from his mouth and jack ruby acts a bit vexed as if to to say to mickey start singing, and doesn't actually start till 26:00 secs. Can't say the tape is out of sync because the the mouth movement matches the words 33:00 secs and so on, but it doesn't matter in any case because everyone knows mickey was a great singer.

  • @iwc62 Your right about him lip syncing, for sure.. 22secs...but thats him singing whether from tape or not, maybe it was pressed in a limited run, id be surprised if it wasn't...

  • The real deal. Yard style,

  • bad! bad! bad!

  • wicked... dem guy nuh tek singing class

  • Tuuuuuuuuuufff !!!!!!!!

  • how can i get hold of this dubplate

  • @iwc62

well, since dubplates are special acetate records made for sound systems there will only be one or two physical copies cut specifically for that sound (in this case, Jack Ruby Hi Fi sometime back 30 years ago). if in theory, somehow the record ever came up for sale somewhere, you can bet it would probably have a big price tag on it.

there might be a master tape floating around somewhere that the dubplate was cut off. or it may have been re-recorded over..... we'll probably never know.

  • @blakbeltjonez thanks for your reply....i'll keep hoping looking for this version.

  • @blakbeltjonez Well as love this version of "good lovin" so much i feel compelled to try at least and do the impossibe and see if i can find out from as many sources as possible where i might obtain a copy of this tune weather it be on slate or on a sound tape if there is one that exists, it would be so nice to get the full length version and would also serve as a tribute to a truly great singer.

  • how can i get hold of this dubplate?

  • >>> Miming or not.... what a tuuuuuuuune

  • mickey simpson "good good lovin"

he is actually singing live but there is a offset of 1 sec. between audio and video, thats we it seems like he is miming.

    amaaazing tube!!

  • Gunman!...Big tune...

  • This is a dubplate with Mickey Simpson miming for the camera. The original JA 7" on Fox is a completely different mix, as is the UK 12". The organ ( and Mickey's vocal! ) makes this tune but it's only on the slate.

  • I agree, he has to be miming because he is not matching the level of expression in the song. The guy that posted this video said the same thing.

  • @soundz57 they should find that slate and produce it on to vinyl and release it, such a briiliant mix better than the others,

  • another one is reggae train last train to zion.

  • somtimes i can be wrong and other times bios can be wrong, but check out a site called blackechos on-line memorium for conformation on dates and deaths of reggae artists.

  • save a lil bit for me was a nice song ,he was stabbed right after it was made

  • I thought this was done in 1983. That is what his bio states.

  • SPRING 1989, SO THATS 4 1/2.

  • I have the single "save a little bit for me" on the penthouse label, i think, and it has the date when Mickey was stabbed dec 1993, so that would be about 3 1/2 years after Ruby died.

  • i like this version of the track "give me your love" Mickeys album, but does anyone know the rhythm track or was it as i suspect a Jack Ruby "special" which would be i imagine impossibe to get hold of?

  • So Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet...

  • rip mickey simpson

  • when dance run nice....wonderful times just watch dem dance old time style..wonderful clip respect and thanks for the post..

  • classic

  • Want to promote this guy Sorta look and sound like Sugar Minott Find out murderer tek him life When dis happen? After Jack Ruby dead or before? Damn and mi hubby woulda like fi put him pon som show Dem jealous SOB Di lyrics just hold on pon the I and nah let go

  • gracias por subir roots tan excepcional

  • it was grudgefulness. that was my uncle

  • roots tune. gone are those days.

  • once upon reggae..now it s just rubbish! god bless the old good days ('60s - mid'80s)

  • agreed

  • @MendrisioHardcore i totally agree, im still buying the old stuff!

  • @MendrisioHardcore Defenitly good old days, reggae went down hill after the mid 80s.

  • could someone tell me the name of the song "give me your love.." that's one of the most graceful song have ever heard, realy. and a i heard lot reggae, but that's make me feel over the moon

  • The tune you mention is "Good Good Loving" by Mickey Simpson. It was issued by Jack Ruby in the early 80's on his Fox label. It is a throw back in the days of Rock Steady and proves the old saying "less is more"

  • anybody know the name of this riddim

    bless

  • such a nicely roots track.... 5 stars! love it

  • Jack Ruby tune the sound to perfection. When a singer does not have to "cup" the microphone, it means he/she can hear themselves clearly in the dancehall. This is different from stage singing, where you have the monitor in front of you. A lot of sound guys could not do this well, so they over compensated by adding too much reverb. Anyone who used to collect Jack Ruby sound tapes will tell you about the sound audio quality

  • this is one of my favorite videos, apart from the the fact im a fan of jack ruby and mickey simpson i just love that rhythem track to mickeys good good lovin which on his album is completely different, i guess its just one of rubys dub plates, never the less i wish i could get hold of it. anyway total respect to jack ruby who died in 1989 and mickey simpson who was murderd in 1993, two great talents missed im sure by all true reggae fans.

  • whats the name of this song???

  • what kind of mixer is that??? what brand is it?

  • BO!

  • Is Mickey Simpson still alive?

  • Greetings tubeboy,

Mickey Sims was stabbed and killed in JA in about 1982 or so.

Great loss to the music industry!

    Bless.

  • ok, thnx for the info :)

  • about mickey he was good, sorry he wasnt around much longer

  • I always wondered what happened to him. Was he mixed up in badness or was it some grudgefulness?

  • This tune got released in Jamaica on Fox label and sold only in very specialist shops (whats new?)Then released as a disco in UK with a lousy mix. A real throw back to Rock Steady this, a wonderful piece of music.

  • what a tune mickey simson can sing man!!

  • jack ruby the in thing now

  • sista in the red tights is killing it!!! :)

  • what's the name of this song???

    I love it!!

  • LARRY:family friend

    ME:present

    MICKEY:actually singing over dub version

    RIP 'JACK'//MS. LINDO//BIG UP YO'SELF LORNA!!

  • Classic vid !!!!!!!!

  • so nice.

  • This is Mickey Simpson in the blue shirt singing for a fact. Just want to clear that up :)

  • when dance used to nice - di pussy dem kill off jack ruby fi wah?

  • This is Mickey Simpson actually singing - is it him miming??? or who ??????

  • Mickey Simpson did work with Jack Ruby sound, so this is probably him, its just him lip syncing over his own track which you can tell by the way he's holding the mic, and how far his mouth is from the mic.

  • Bobby Culture is really an underrated deejay who had a magnificent style! The Tidal Wave album with him Louie Rankin and Nicodemus is a true gem. Also his 12" Health & Strength is a fantastic song.

  • He's not lip syncing. He's singing over the dub version of the song and the dub begins with a bit of the vocal. So the first few lines of singing are on the recording. Then he takes over. Wicked video. Thanks.

  • but i think its ronnie davis too..

  • the song sounds like hugh griffiths... the same guy who sang "sexy laayy-hay-hay-deeee/ ladie i lovee youu"

  • midimaster you make dub?

  • Yes :)

  • 1 luv

  • JACK RUBY Sound.. Brilliant.. Brilliant.. Tribute.. Vintage Sound Show Case.. Original Style.

  • they just singing over the record playing but the mic is also live.

  • me a show de I dem say Bobby Culture a one a de wickedest mike mc's ever a him bring louie ranking
