Great to hear this again - one of the first pieces I ever did in a choir. Memories of Walton-on-the Naze parish church and the elderly lady who dozed off in the front row while we were singing it.
The sergeant Merryll somehow reminds me of Graham Chapman from Monty Python too bad he's dead and couldn't sing otherwise he'd be perfect for the role.
Have you ever tried to get thetenore to shave off his beard?!?! Believe me it is impossible in the extreame - he wouldn't even shave it off to be Hilarion! he he! But hey...............that's one of the reasons why we all love him so much! ;) x
I was in my school production of "Yeoman" in 1969 and this was my favorite song. Hearing this after all these years just went right through me and choked me up--Amazing!!!
