  • one of the most accurate rifles ever made

  • idk wat to get first an m1 garand or a m1903 springfield?

  • Fellow lefty.

  • Guy shootin' the bird in the background at 0:02 is hilarious!

  • Lol @ very beginning middle finger

  • Hey nice rifle! I own a Mosin Nagant and hopefully will be getting a Mauser 98k and one day a 1903 springfield. Quick question though what gun range are you at ? Looks familiar to this one I go to the Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club, wouldnt happen to be it would it?

  • @LDXaborg

Actually it is Gateway.. In Jacksonville, FL right?

  • @j23brook Yes! Its off of 103rd thats awesome haha I thought it looked familar I take my Mosin up there often I just got a Ruger Mini 14 and put a scope on it and im gonna take it up there soon

  • Man that has a beautiful sound, made me jump.

  • Comment removed

  • aint scared of guys who shoot from there left so yeah...

  • Wait a second, I thought an M1903 Springfield only had a capacity of 5 rounds, so how was yours able to hold 6 rounds? I dont get it...

  • @Xgendude14

You can fit 5 in the mag + 1 in the chamber...

Marksmen would frequently load the mag to full capacity and turn it to single fire mode. They would then load each round while they picked people off at a distance. If they were rushed, or needed to fire fast, they would switch to semi auto mode and have the 5 rounds waiting in the Mag.

  • @j23brook Ah, I get it now...Either way, you are a damn fast reloader...

  • @j23brook Well not semiauto, unless you had a Pedersen device.

  • nice its got a good bang unlike the lee enfield

  • I wouldn't trust those two with guns...

  • where can i get one?

  • smooth bolt pull

  • Comment removed

  • I like the original M1903 with the straight grip stock the best... I got a better feeling when shooting and for me, it looks better than the 1903A1and Co with the pistol grip.

  • man i'd love a gun like this for deer hunting season!

  • I hev 1 but my gramps pluged the damn barel! it no work any moar

  • hardcore...I dont even flinch...Get some...

  • hows the kick?

  • nice sound recording

  • not controlling your excitement by the looks of it when you reload. haha.

  • Hey J23brook nice video man. i have a question and i hope u reply.

how much does a Springfield cost?and where to get one?

  • mine was about 450, they range between 300 and depending on the rarity of the SN upwards into the thousands... i got mine from a gun show

  • isnt it bad to force the extractor over the case? you had to slide the round into the chamber with the bolt open and then load the 5 rounds unless you know a different way.

  • no... it is a combat rifle... it was built to be loaded with ammunition.. what they used to do was load the internal mag with its standard 5 rounds... and flip the switch on the side to the off position... then, while ranged... load bullets 1 by 1 while picking off enemies... if they were rushed they would switch the switch to the on position and proceed to unload 5 rounds : ) gotta love it

  • well obviously it was built to be loaded but what i am saying is for it to have six rounds loaded you loaded the mag and then slid one in the chamber. you then closed the bolt forcing the extractor to pop over the case rim.

  • I understand what you mean. There is a setting for single round feed that disables the magazine so it was obviously intended to be used as such. Whether or not it's good for the extractor is debateable. The extractor itself is beveled slightly on the forward end but doesn't have any real movement or springyness, so snapping it over a cartridge case over and over might wear one out. The contolled feed is so nice I use it every time, even if shooting single shots.

  • so hows the recoil of the 03? how does it compare to a 98k or m44 mosin nagant?

  • About the same, maybe a little less because the 03 weighs more. Your shoulder will feel it the next day.

  • ok. i can shoot around 100 rounds out of both with no problem but after that is pushing it.

  • Depends more on the rounds you're firing, IMO.

The 98k and the M44 I would call pretty even between bullet weights - that is, the 147 gr 54R and the similar light ball 8mm are similar.

In my opinion, however, the average ~180 gr softpoint .30-06 out of an '03 has probably 15-25% more felt recoil than a 174-180 gr milsurp round out of an M91/30... I don't have an M44, just 4 M91/30's. But an M91/30's additional length and weight mean its felt recoil is lower than the M44.

    Short ans - '03 more

  • I would agree there.

  • best sniper ever built i think

  • nice rifle but u gotta learn to work the bolt with the hand u pull the trigger with cause if u are holding the rifle and work the bolt the way u did u will loose ur line of sight and will bring the rifle off target nice vid though

  • I thought the m1903 had only 5 rounds? You fired 6?

  • he must've chambered one, then loaded the internal mag. I dunno, that might not be possible

  • dead on

  • Its true, the springfield holds 5 rounds in the magazine.... I made sure to chamber one round. So after i fired the first shot, the rounds in the mag kicked in.

  • Ok cause I was kinda confused about that but the explanation was simple enough. I just wasn't smart enough o think of that.

  • The springfield was virtually a copy of the mauser 98. Both were reliable and accurate. The 30-06 has slightly better ballistics than the 8mm mauser. Being so similar it's hard to say one is better than the other. The springfield has a smoother action, at least mine does. It's a little lighter too.

Them terrorists better be on their toes. You can sling some accurate lead down range...03 style. Nice vid, it's good to see another 03 fan. Keep it original and take care of it.

  • actually the americans took the basic mauser design and made some improvements such as the curved handle. the m1903 was a very good rifle and even better than the mauser98 because the .30-06 round has better ballistics like you said.

  • is springfield better than k98 mauser?but honestly!!!

  • Im the guy on the side, and I fire that gun way better than him, he's just sccared to post it! I put him to shame, notice how he doesnt show his target after the shots, HA take that Lash.

  • wooooow, hes just mad because he didnt get one of the silver dollars that i shot from 200 yds. I understand though...

  • Great video guys. Thanks for posting.

  • how much does a 1903 springfield cost

  • they vary, mine was like 500... depending on the serial number, some are more rare than others.... U can get early serial numbers for 2-3 hundred dollars and rarer ones for upwards to 1-2 thousand.... the Springfield was fitted with a scope during WWII and used as a sniper rifle.. Those are ridiculously expensive if u can find them

  • range of 1200m what's not to like besides the crappy standard optics lol

  • Just curious since you mentioned your off hand (standing) accuracy....what do you score on avg for a 10 round string off hand at 200 yards? Do you compete in High Power competition?

  • fast reload speed. nice.

  • jajaja, y el wey de aya atras nomas haciendo señas!!! jajaja

  • "Any terrorists that wanna come to my neighborhood better watch out for the Springfield.... but they have to be 50 yards away wearing a paper bullseye and I have to be seated comfortably on a bench with a gun support and plenty of time to aim..."

  • Well, first of all i was shooting at 200 yards, second of all i am dead acurate at 100- 150 yards standing up.... you dont even wana know my acuracy in the prone position....

  • i love WWII/WWI bolt actions!

  • You should give the Mauser Kar98 a go, The 03 is good, but it feels like a lower quality knock-off of the Kar98, which it is basically. Cycling an 03 feels rather sticky as opposed to the silk smooth Kar98. The Kar98 does kick a little more though, but not by much.

  • it was maily designed to face the mauser an borrowed many mechanisms from the Kar

  • YeeHaw lets go dynamite fishin' next

  • first of all, im not the FAGGOT going around with nothing better to do than talk shit on peoples youtube videos..... Second of all, not a hick at all.... third, not tryn to sound tough.... just bein sarcastic/smartass.....take a chillpill dude

  • Lol, eyah don't you hate it... I want a Scoped Spring =[

  • that guy on the side.... nice gun

  • I know someone who dosn't like guns that has a M1903 A3. PS I have a 1938 built Kar98.

  • I know someone that doesn't like science fiction. PS, I like Star Wars. Seriously dude, whats your point?

  • i bought an M1903 last year. I luv it. However i haven't had the chance to fire anything but blanks so far. Can't wait to get it to the range. It is the original model with the finger grove. I suspect it was most likley left behind here in New Zealand by the Marine Corps

  • qinjanina, keep firing blanks out of that and you wont have any rifling left in your barrel, blanks eat that stuff away in no time, unless thats all you CAN shoot in New Zealand.........

  • Im a reenactor. So thats why iv been firing blanks. But its not very often only at events. I spend my time on Tommy guns and Grease Guns mainly. Yea we can fire everything live in NZ except fully auto which can only be fired with blanks. Not even our police force has fully auto weapons only the military.

  • Love the sound, this is easily my favorite milsurp bolt rifle (yes i also have K-31s', enfields' mausers' and mosins')such a smooth bolt, mine is a 1922 SA. We took the Mauser and turned it into a work of art. They're getting pricey if you come across a good deal go for it, its only going to appreciate.

  • that M1903 .30-06 is my favorite bolt action rifle!

  • That rifle... has United States Marine Corps written all over it. :)

  • my 1903 was hand made except for the bolt. its a .308.....what caliber is yers?

  • You are good left handed!

  • Didn't Springfield also make some left handed guns for the army?

  • i have no clue.....probably

  • I have never seen anyone shoot the way you do, ever. It's weird.

Regardless, if you liek that rifle, try the 300 weatherby magnum. I took out a tree at my shooting range with one.

  • whats so weird about the way i shoot? left handed.....with a barrel stand?? dont get it

  • I didn't get his comment either, I thought you did fine

  • the guy is left handed?

i guess left handed guys will have problem when firing bolt action rifles while standing... well i guess

  • well....what i do when im standing up is.... I keep ahold of the gun with my right hand and i reach over with the left hand to the bolt....it works pretty well

  • Ah okay I got it. So you're really left handed huh?

But I say you have one nice rifle. I dream of having a Springfield M1093 for myself. Unfortunately, that rifle is reeeeally rare in our country. M1 Garand and Thompson are the only common WW2 weapons here.

Ive heard from other collectors that despite its old age, its accuracy is still high. Oh well maybe I should look for a clone. tsk!

  • yea.....its dead on from 300 yds+ check out the top 10 rifles video about the springfield.....here in the states you can get nice ones for 400$

  • 300 yards is roughly 300 meters. That's way far for a naked eye without a scope and it really hits the target? Have you tried?

    Man! That rifle's really something.

    $400 = Php16,000 hmmm, it's cheap for an American classic, a real antique and a collector's item.

BTW, where's the rectangular rear sight that I usually see in pictures and videos?

  • yes it has one.....it folds down....from 300 yards you can hit the target....its not going to hit the bullseye but youll hit a human sized target....put a betallion togather armed with the m1903 and you run into deadly lead at about 650 yds....

  • Wait a minute, I counted six rounds...

Thought those only held 5 *shrug*

  • one in the chamber.....

  • Zap234 i really cant think of what to say to you. I mean have you shot both? Well I have and i'd have to say that the 1903 is machined to perfection, while the M44 is a piece of jamming Russian crap. I mean what the hell is the use of a rimmed cartridge when it has a neck any way?! Well i also believe that straight bolts are akward to use.

  • An absolutely wonderful weapon, the Kar98 with an "improved" round, you simply cant beat the 1903/08. Stand it next to the SMLE and you have the best of the bolt actions in-line...

  • i still think the mosin-nagant m44 is better

  • BTW, That is South Paw Advice.

  • Your too far to the right on shoulder... move left..

right knee down and move forward.

You have a remarkable firearm,..the original 03....learn how to use it properly.

You can easily get 1" groups at 200 without a weaver if you take time to learn.

Retired Col./ CAV / email me anytime.

  • Hey man, i have a Springfield, but no ammunition. Where do you get yours?

  • dude....any wallmart, its 30-06 ammo, standard 150 grain

  • Many sources, and many calibers.

    Springfield?....

Hey Man....what rifle or side arm?

Next time ask an intelligent question.

  • What? What the hell are you trying to say?

  • M1903 freaking rocks! We just inheireted my grandpa's. G36 is a good gun no doubt but if you want to kill somebody in one shot at 800 yards you'd want a Springfield.

  • tsssss oldies get a G36 it PWNS

  • you dont wear ear muffs? i guess its not as loud as 30 Cal..

  • no it deff is as loud......it is a 30 cal rifle.....its a 30 ot 6....i have ear plugs in tho....they are more comfortable when shooting a rifle

  • ooo i see. Yea it sounds aweful loud and i didnt spot the earplugs on you. I have a winchester.

  • yeah tht gun can get loud after awhile ur 1903 is nice do u have trouble with it jamming i think mine needs a new spring in the mag

  • No, I have no problem with jams. Infact, I havn't had any problems with it at all. You shouldnt either, its a very simple mechanical system. Sounds like you just need to disassemble the magazine and clean it....I hadn't cleaned mine for a while and when I did I was suprised at how much gunk there was down there. If you want, I can explain how to disassemble and clean the magazine in another video. You are going to need to get a cleaning kit.

  • who cares, grandpa was in ww2 also but used moisen nagant with scope (russian sniper rifle)

plus what does BAR have to do with this vid?

  • Springfield Rocks

  • yo Badr, what does your grandpa or his BAR have anything to do with me or my springfield rifel??? In combat i would pick him or you off from 600 yards before you could even see me.... BAR is support infnatry.

  • my grandpa was in Easy Company 506 he was a Cpt Then and he killd many germans with his B.A.R. others sodliers they called my grandpa Wild Bill So Shut The Hell Up

  • Hey badr50 my grandpa was in WWII also and he used this rifle so shut the hell up!

  • FUCK U and ur rifel my grandaPA was in WWII he has a

B.A.R. asshole im gonna fuck with it basterd

  • My grandfather was in WWII too...he was a Staff Sergeant. He was injured by a German grenade or "potato masher"..he was given the option of going home or going back to fight...he chose to go back to fight..if that aint guts then i don't know what is.

  • M1903 Springfields...
