I like how you can hotkey all your buildings to one number and then you can tap through them, so if i hotkey 4 barracks to 1 and press 1 to go to my barracks to build marines does it build my marines evenly at all 4 of my barracks??? or does it build 5 marines at one barracks and then go to the next one? Sorry if thats confusing.
but if I got a army with like 4 stalkers and 1 zealot and I have all these 5 in a control group. How do I remove/unselect a unit from this group? if I want him on another location and dont want to follow the stalkers if I click for ex. 1 and click on the map? :)
great video, i knew 90% of it allready but even small hotkey "tricks" are a great boost in the long run.. - Now what i dont understand is that with protos you can simply hit W and get all of your gateways (witch i love) but i dont see that feature with zerg or terren - what is up with that?? they should also have an "hit A - get all rax" or zerg "hit i dont know lets say Q and get all larvae" or have i just missed that in soe way?? plz help! ;)
@Airblaster9000 its included within the warpgate tech, so you can warp in units. terrans can queue up so they dont need it. it would make sense for zerg though

Question, say that you put three Command Centers in one control group. To instantly go to your control group, you would double tap the control group number. But how do I choose which Command Center I go to?

i have a good understanding of control groups, good video, but my question is how do i clear a control group?? because as a zerg im constantly hitting my control group to select all my hatcheries but my problem is that sometimes i missclick and add other units to the hatchery control group and that severely interferes with my macro and microing abilities.
@theunderman23 Reselect only the things you want in the group and then hold shift and right click the control tab. This should replace your current hotkey tab with the things you have currently selected. GLHF!
@theunderman23 Select your control group. Hold shift and select your unwanted building or unit. When its gone hold Ctrl and click the control group you want. Using Ctrl+# overwrites the current control group where Shift+# adds to it. Shift+Click Removes a unit from your selected group

@Clarkd87 I don't believe reactors have upgrades. Reactors allow you to train 2 units at a time off of a building, while Tech labs allow you to train better units and have some special upgrades. Reactors should not be hotkeyed.

How do you make newly created units, which you queued up, automatically append themselves to groups? If that's not possible, then how do you make newly created units follow a certain group without depending on a specific target unit on whom you set the rally point and the rally point disappears if that target dies?
Blizzard should explain stuff like this in the tutorials section of the game... I bet half of the players don't know they can even queue a series of actions with shift...
@unclvinny I figured it out. You can't remove a unit from a control group, but you can redefine the control group to not include that unit. For example, if 11 marines are currently in control group 4, but you only want 10 in the group, do this: Select 10 of them, and hit Control-4. (I need to do this sometimes when I pull a few units out to go scout or do some small job.)

I was watching pro videos and they used the multiple building in one hotkey but I couldnt figure out how to make my factory build tanks and starports build banshees. @MyTheBoyWonder you need to tell look up the graphic card it has. plus you can use the specifications of the graphic card and see if the numbers are matching the game requirements or higher.
I never played SC1 and have not been playing SC2 for a short time now. I am currently platinum level player and have always used these control groups. 1 - cc's 3 -barracks, 4 - Factory - 5 starport. I never used a control group for my units. I have been having a hard time getting into diamond level because my apm was too low with the current hotkeys. I have been looking for a long time now and have finally found the perfect control groups for the terran race. Thank you for your video!
I would of added.. Ctrl clicking one unit or building will select all units or buildings of the same... Maybe it's common knowledge but I sure as hell didn't know lol. This vid and that little (ctrl click one tank, Z for siege) has amped my game maybe 40 percent. Thank you! :)
@StarCraftIIReplays in game you hold alt. but if you go to the menu you should be able to find it in the gameplay section i think. just click around and youll find it. thats what i did. but you can just hold alt if you need them and have them off for the rest of the game.
Hey TTG, as usual I love watching your vids. Just wanted to point out one thing that I keep seeing in my replays is that Protoss players always seem to control group their warpgates. This is great for when they are gateways but really becomes redundant when upgraded to warp as the 'w' key is an automatic internal hotkey for them (picked this up from the challenges). This frees up a control group - which I use on a pylon to quick-jump for warping! Keep up the good work! *thumbs up*

This is very handy. Some things i knew and some thing i did not.
BUT...
I have 1 question. To me putting all the miltary building to 1 hotkey sounds very logical. But why do pro players still put them to different control groups? (baracks 4, fac 5, star 6).
I mean, there has to be a reason why they do not put them on the same key right?
I like being able to put multiple Nexus on the same hotkey but how do I move from one to the other on the map? I think somewhere I heard you say you use the backspace key? Problem is this is not in a good position, you would think using the Tab key should work, as it does with army composition but doesnt seem so.
@petecabrina space bar centers your screen to the last "ping" that was sounded. The AI sends you an audio message whenever something happens (units under attack, something was done being constructed, upgraded, somebody else pings the map, etc).
If you want to switch through nexus like that you either click on the nexus to isolate it and click on the picture, or keep the nexus on separate hot keys and double click the # corresponding to the nexus you want or click on the mini map.
Thanks alot mate! :D I used to give one key to each CC; one key to all barracks, one key to all factory, one key to all starports and it was quite taxing. Your method is so much better. Love the idea of grouping CCs so you can rally them all at once; and love the idea of grouping upgrades. Never thought of any of that. Thank you a lot mate! :D

This is great, Thank you. I always used control groups but the benefit I got out of them was mostly capped at 1a2a3a4a. I can see myself having much better macro if I practice what youve showed in your video.
i wish this controll grps could have the same hotkeys as wow like use all letters and numbers ;( but ofc like the letter "B" its blink for stalkers will mess up

Gotta say all these videos are really helpful, I'm new to the SC franchise, not new to the rts genre though, and this is definitely helpful, when I first started I had absolutely no idea of what I should build and in what order and I didn't really keep unit strengths in mind but your videos have really helped with my understanding of all the units and how to build up early on, oh and most importantly scouting effectively, very helpful

Why are your units hotkeys different then mine are? If I select for expemple my racks and I want to build marauders I just press "D" but I saw yours on "W"..

one thing i think it's not there in sc2 is when u select a unit it doesnt show where in the minimap the selected unit is.. the other thing is if we could select a group not only with tabbing but also clicking say with a alt-click the unit(actually ihavent tried this one yet :D but i think it's not there)

hey guys im geting a desktop for christmas and i wwant to start playing this game i know which computer im geting and i was wondering if any of you guys can tell me if it will work on it. its at the bestbuy website and its the cheapist desktop for $309 with 2gb memry and a 500gb harddrive please tell me!

@MyTheBoyWonder you need to tell look up the graphic card it has. plus you can use the specifications of the graphic card and see if the numbers are matching the game requirements or higher.

I never played SC1 and have not been playing SC2 for a short time now. I am currently platinum level player and have always used these control groups. 1 - cc's 3 -barracks, 4 - Factory - 5 starport. I never used a control group for my units. I have been having a hard time getting into diamond level because my apm was too low with the current hotkeys. I have been looking for a long time now and have finally found the perfect control groups for the terran race. Thank you for your video!

I would of added.. Ctrl clicking one unit or building will select all units or buildings of the same... Maybe it's common knowledge but I sure as hell didn't know lol. This vid and that little (ctrl click one tank, Z for siege) has amped my game maybe 40 percent. Thank you! :)

@StarCraftIIReplays in game you hold alt. but if you go to the menu you should be able to find it in the gameplay section i think. just click around and youll find it. thats what i did. but you can just hold alt if you need them and have them off for the rest of the game.

Hey TTG, as usual I love watching your vids. Just wanted to point out one thing that I keep seeing in my replays is that Protoss players always seem to control group their warpgates. This is great for when they are gateways but really becomes redundant when upgraded to warp as the 'w' key is an automatic internal hotkey for them (picked this up from the challenges). This frees up a control group - which I use on a pylon to quick-jump for warping! Keep up the good work! *thumbs up*

the tutorials you've made, I just watched today and I tried your map to practice my skills.(still need to figure out counters better) and I can already see an improvement in what my game will be at when I use these skills in a real game. omg so i get SC2 after playing SC1 since it came out.
And i saw you can add all barracks and factories to one group, but i saw i could only build from the barracks, i did NOT know about the TAB key...
This is coming from a rank 1350....

This is very handy. Some things i knew and some thing i did not.
BUT...
I have 1 question. To me putting all the miltary building to 1 hotkey sounds very logical. But why do pro players still put them to different control groups? (baracks 4, fac 5, star 6).
I mean, there has to be a reason why they do not put them on the same key right?

I like being able to put multiple Nexus on the same hotkey but how do I move from one to the other on the map? I think somewhere I heard you say you use the backspace key? Problem is this is not in a good position, you would think using the Tab key should work, as it does with army composition but doesnt seem so.

@petecabrina space bar centers your screen to the last "ping" that was sounded. The AI sends you an audio message whenever something happens (units under attack, something was done being constructed, upgraded, somebody else pings the map, etc).
If you want to switch through nexus like that you either click on the nexus to isolate it and click on the picture, or keep the nexus on separate hot keys and double click the # corresponding to the nexus you want or click on the mini map.

Thanks alot mate! :D I used to give one key to each CC; one key to all barracks, one key to all factory, one key to all starports and it was quite taxing. Your method is so much better. Love the idea of grouping CCs so you can rally them all at once; and love the idea of grouping upgrades. Never thought of any of that. Thank you a lot mate! :D

@dcolang420 To mass drop mules, press the CC control group #, press M, hold shift while mouse clicking the mineral patches. One drops with every click

This is great, Thank you. I always used control groups but the benefit I got out of them was mostly capped at 1a2a3a4a. I can see myself having much better macro if I practice what youve showed in your video.

you are like at the view of your opponent's base. and you want the quick view of your
main base..
orginally you would push 4 twice right?
to go to that location.. but since.. i have 4 cc on it.. ..i push the 4 twice..and it switces to my expo...
so.. is tehre a way where you can choose which place of each cc ?

I really appreciate your videos, Im not really a huge strategist buff, My game of choice is usually horror/ first person shooters etc so for me starcraft was a refreshing change, though tbh Im getting it handed to me on multiplayer!

@Catchafire2000 to add units you have to highlight the new units only and hit shift 1 (to add to control group 1). some ppl use the right hand CTRL to use the higher numbers, btw

Gotta say all these videos are really helpful, I'm new to the SC franchise, not new to the rts genre though, and this is definitely helpful, when I first started I had absolutely no idea of what I should build and in what order and I didn't really keep unit strengths in mind but your videos have really helped with my understanding of all the units and how to build up early on, oh and most importantly scouting effectively, very helpful

Why are your units hotkeys different then mine are? If I select for expemple my racks and I want to build marauders I just press "D" but I saw yours on "W"..

one thing i think it's not there in sc2 is when u select a unit it doesnt show where in the minimap the selected unit is.. the other thing is if we could select a group not only with tabbing but also clicking say with a alt-click the unit(actually ihavent tried this one yet :D but i think it's not there)
