  • Im 6 foot 1 inch i weight about 320 or less half athletic body so its hard for me to get up there when i sae this video about 2 days i ago i was touching the bottom of the backboard i did this exercises with friend of mine( he is small 5'10 but he wants to dunk too) so we did the exercises 2 days ago as soon as we watch the video doing them on a full court and today when i went to play with him i touch the box that holds the basket in place but i went so high i mean like 3 inches higher than wh

  • @wizarethebest dunk with a ball size 5, your hand will strech out, do this for quiet some time, then go to 6 and then finally 5, im 6"00 my hands are not that big and i can grab the ball, not long but deffinitly long enough to dunk ( excuse my english)

  • @wizarethebest there is a hand exercise where you stick your hands in a bucket of rice and keep moving them. This will help your grip and finger strength

  • im 15 and 6'4" i can now touch the top of the white box on the back board. im dunking on people in games and all the training i did to get my vert up like that is alot of the same stuff this guy is doing in the video. GREAT STUFF!

  • hey how tall was your son in this? When he was doing the spot jumps or as you say backboard jumps he seemed like was wasnt having to jump to touch.. not tolling just asking LIKE for real haha

  • trick to dunking is , when working out due it with explosive energy, just simply doing plyo's and jump exercises wont help unless your are actually pushing yourselfs

  • well like the guys here im 5 10 and i can grab rim but i cant dunk :'( i do alot of cav raises like 200 every day each leg but i onlyjump with my left i cant jump with 2 for some reason

    a key thing to remember is just to keep practicing dunking... i used to do mad amount of squats and calf-raises, and they did help, but I really began to dunk extremely well when i would go to the gym every day and just try dunking. Even if you just get up to the rim and drop the ball in, eventually you will get closer and closer, and it will make all the difference.

  • usually teens that are superbly tall are most likely going to be discoordinated so thats why maybe u cant dunk

  • @iDumbAzn The short answer is plyometrics or jump training, look it up, there are places on the net that will help you. never underestimate your strength and you may even grow an inch or two. Xave was 15 when we made that video, he's 17 now and about 5 inches taller... height and hand size also play a part in the dunk. Keep at it and good luck.

  • haha i'm 15 and 6'1" and i'm trying to dunk better. i was able to dunk in 8th grade but i broke my ankle and was out for a while and got surger at the begging of this year so nearly 2 yrs of no sports and i can finally play but my leg muscle is almost all gone because of the surgery because i needed to get a leg pain block and now my legs are skinny and week so i need to build them up but i can still dunk ! i'll try this stuff thanks man!

  • lol same height but younger, i am trying to be the first kid in my city to dunk in the 8th grade, i can grab rim and i need about 3 more inches. im on the basketball team and we havent started our games yet but i know i will be starter just like last year, and if i can dunk then we can hopefully beat our rival city!

  • lol that was a while ago but i was going to do it to build up my leg muscle so i could jump higher and do it in game. but i ended up not doing this and just did regular running and playing so my legs still aren't as big as they use to be but i can get up higher now and do it two hands easy i still want to jump higher though like nate robinson high lol

    One tip, try with the step ups not coming on the ground with your foot.

    Just a little tik on the ground with your toe.

  • a good upper body routine would be pull ups and push ups, in that order. work your biggest muscles 1st.. lats are bigger and stronger than the chest. Pull up and hold, also when you lower the push up, hold it at the point where you feel your weakest. It will get you stronger and give you more control. Good luck

  • usually do 3 sets of 15-20 or until you fail. and keep doing them.. add some new twists to them , like a jumping spin, a jump into a squat thrust and jump up... add weight (not to your ankles, more like a vest) and do them until you achieve your goals.

  • Keep jumping and stretching you upper body and work your legs, from your butt (squats) to your calves (calve raises) there are some plyometric (jump training) videos on youtube, check them out too.

    Keep at it and never quit!!!
