  • good work here

  • Very enjoyable thank you

  • Nice!!! THANK YOU:)

  • I'm going to try this to make wine into liquor.

  • Could you use this method to distill alcohol ?

it seems simple enough to me as alcohol has a lower boiling point than water so it would evaporate first ? what do you think ?

  • @XXDRAGON195XX I think it should work. You might get some water in the mix, but if you do it twice it would yield a higher alcohol content.

  • Nice to know that food colouring is not poisonous!!! Would be a worry if it was!

  • I saw this on Man V.S. Wild. xD

  • so do you think this system would remove fluoride and chlorine from tap water....?

  • IF I WANT TO GET PURE WATER OUT OF SALTY WATER...WILL IT WORK?

  • Genius! Great tip, thank you.

  • The only bad thing is that the water compounds with the plastic wrap

  • or you can buy one.

  • Thank you. Fluoride free water!

  • great video! a lot of people think distilling purifies water, not so.

  • Thanks for sharing! Hopefully this will help get out the fluoride, AND it makes the water solarized :-)

  • Very handy!!

1:55 Am I the only one who thought Bear Gryllis?

  • What about in the fall or upcoming winter, can you still do this?

  • Dont use Cling Wrap you Idiot, Unless you want to die, it may have harmful plasticizers in the plastic. Use a bent glass or something like that

  • Ignore the fools telling you to get a tan. Us pale folk will be laughing when all the leather skinned bros get skin cancer and die in their 40s and 50s. Cool video, btw

  • MMEEAWWW =^.^=

  • I was suprised that the food dye was also distiled and it demonstates that you should be careful about getting water from plants or cactus that may be poisonous.

  • Looks like a blast :\ ..

Id prefer to distill a 'Budweiser' & try get a 'drop' of beer out of it. [Highly unlikely, but ye' never know] btw: dude, you seriously need some sun, you could be a stunt double for 'twilight'...yea white as fuck my man.. 'just saying bro' lol -peace.

  • Does it have to be tasty grass?

  • otto ate a picece of grass

  • I'd eat that cat with my fresh drinking water.

  • @200xowner or you could combine the water and cat. Then you could eat a wet . . . . . well you know. lol.

  • Thanks Japan now we have radioactive drinking water everywhere!

  • Using a dark container for the dirty water will increase evaporation thus speeding up the distillation process right?

  • lmao 0:40...i gotta throw up gimmy some grass:D

  • Overdub fail...

  • It is. Educational. Entertaining. Thanks.

  • Zach Scott is my initials

  • So I won't need the cat too?

  • Nice experiment. But the one flaw with it has to do with a substance called BPA. BPA is a carcinogenic chemical found in all kinds of plastic. In fact test have shown it to exist in high levels even in plastic that is not supposed to have any BPA. BPA is released from plastic especially when heated. Setting plastic jugs of water in a hot car-- bad idea- try to cover them with comforters and blankets to insulate them for the trip home.If you can cut out plastic in the distiller it would be safer.

  • @TruthInjector To avoid BPA just use a pan cover, in stainless steel, it will do the job!

    Mike

  • @mikesablarry The tubes and foam sealant are what would concern me. There have been tests done on a variety of different plastics used to make the microwave frozen food you can buy, including plastic types that purportedly have no BPA, and after cooking the food in the trays the food was found to have very high levels of BPA-- a substance that can cause cancer even at lower levels. For frozen food fans-- pop the food from the tray onto a glass microwavable dish and proceed to cook..

  • Thank you Zack

  • this guy looks like he never saw the sun ever.

  • Can you do this with collected rain water? If you wanted to drink rain water that is?

  • @EzeeSKANKIN

If the atmosphere in your area is not too poluted with chemicals it is all right, I guess. But he used that red color to show just that, that not only water evaporates and drops in the glass.

Great video, btw, very easy to build, that's what I was lookng for. I just like to know this kind of thing just in case, you know.

  • Lol your just ignoreing your cat when hes eating your props.

  • @macklinnful

I know! The cat was so very interested in the experiment.

  • @chrisofkansas LOL HAHAHA I agree.

  • @chrisofkansas Zack is such a science geek ;Q

  • Awesome video dude. You help make science fun!

  • Will this filter fluoride, Chloramine & chlorine ?

  • Thank you for this great video! I'm taking a group of girl scouts camping on the beach and I wanted to show them an easy way to filter salt water.

  • Hey Zack, did u try it with sea water? tell me if it result please, so If I get struck in a shipwreck, I know how to save my life...

  • @alfok

that would work with salt water, though you may need to distill it more than once.

  • cat jack LOL :P

  • erm can u try mixing oil, salt and pure water to Distiller it thanks

  • why is a cat eating the grass/soil?

  • I like this video. It make get you out of a bind if you find yourself in trouble.

  • I understand why some people say not to use plastic wrap because of toxins and all but come on now. We all know that majority of our liquid products are stored in plastic and parents today heat up baby formula in plastic bottles. Plastic is sooo frequently used that along with glass and cans its the most recycled item in households. I think a test should be done comparing the cleanest of the water using this method.

  • in all seriousness would a solar wee distiller work? just wondering?

  • the cat is eating your video supplies

  • Holy Crap i saw this Video 2 years b4 i started watching ZackScott Games

  • This is a great demonstration; however, he used platic wrap to collect water. I wouldnt recomment using plastic wrap because when you expose it to the sun the water collected also takes with it impurities that may be even more harmful than the soil. The plastic can also collect into the cup in the aluminum carrier and potentially take toxins with it. Therefore, I would not recommend this perticular way to distill your water although it is creative.

  • lol Otto kept eating the grass! haha

  • Great video!

How about how to light a fire without a match or lighter?

How to make soap without modern tools?

How to build a small home without a saw, hammers and nails using a soil or clay formula and straw or twigs?

    How to make weapons?

How to plant and grow food?

And here's a really good one that is very interesting > How to quickly build a small igloo?

Basic survival information just in case we all need to know one day :)...

Keep the videos coming kid :)

  • I guess this is okay for a science experiment but you should NOT drink that water. The plastic wrap your using leaches toxic chemicals into that so-called clean water.Glass items would work though.Glass bowel;modified glass funnel.

Never drink water from heated plastics.

  • DO WE NEED A CAT TOO..lol

  • IS VERY GOOD THIS EXPERIMENT, WILL ARE APLICABLE WHIT OTHER TECNOLOGY AND MASSIVE PRODUCTION, FOR ISLAND FOR EXAMPLE!!!

  • great vid.

  • can you also do that with ocean water?

  • @Lucassandro25 Yea, its used in submarines for drinking water...

  • @WinXpCoder Umm no they use reverse osmosis.

  • @Lucassandro25 You can do it with any water.. it will work well with ocean water as the salt wont evaporate.

Although as he said some water can be contaminated with So3 amongst other chemicals and its advisable to boil this water for a couple of minutes to be 100% sure its safe. A similar technique can be used when boiling this water to collect the condensation that would otherwise be wasted through the evaporation during boiling..

  • cool I wouldn't use it except in survival situations though, because most plastic wrap is supposed to have BPA

  • i was wondering no idea the droughts thast the world suffer , can they use this system to produce water ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what if they use the stagnant water to make pure water , i feel crazy myself i know it will be impure ........no idea .............help pls.,we should do some thing ,,,,,,,,,,,to save or preservewater or some how try to createsome ,,,,,,,,,,hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • BPA in the water? nooooo

  • would that work with alcahol?

  • Don't drink too much distilled water, it could cause electrolyte imbalance.

  • Very educational. Thanks :)

  • Yeeaaah !!!!

  • this is lucas from 8e and i like kittties

  • so if you do it with out adding any thing its 100% Distilled?

  • I want to ask you if you made such experiment. To increase the evaporation rate it is possible to make a small drops near the surface with the help of aquarium compressor. I'm interesting if the rate will increase sufficiently

  • Can you use this sea water?? Thanks..

  • @lorddinaire If it tast salty then no.

  • The only smart thing I saw in this video was the cat eating the grass? Why do you think cats like to eat grass?

  • what if u tried this with artificial light? for example instead of sun you use a lamp or someting? would it it still b the same?

  • @MrHernan95 Yes, i believe as long as the artificial light has enough heat to make the water evaporate still, the sunrays aren't really doing anything, it's the heat that makes the condensation happen

  • Otto!! ;D ;D :D

  • We need green jobs!!! We need to invest in the Green sector

We are coming out with videos regarding prop 23

    - prop23FAIL

  • 27 people don't like fresh tasting water

  • we did this at school

  • - so pollution becomes rain ? Always tought water on the ground heated by the sun became rain .. oh well

  • no it's not clean enough!

  • Wait, You tell us not to drink the water with Food Coloring, yet You drink it at The End?

    WHAT ARE YOU?!?!?

  • Solar still takes too long.

Katadyn Survivor can simply pump fresh water from sea water AND remove chemical contaminants.

  • cool

  • I live in a very dry place next to the beach. Does this work for salt water? Would the salt be left behind?

  • @frontdesk123 yes it would

  • LOL, you know your cat eat some plant matter? Catnipmaybe?

  • Cool, now if Africa will do it they can have water too!

  • Question: Could this be done with sea water? Is it possible to filter out enough to make it drinkable? I learned that Sea water is cleaner than earth water if processed through reverse osmosis. I want to know if distillation could perhaps bypass sea water dangers.

  • Good video. However, for those of you who may not know. You don't need water to make water. But simply, dig a hole in a clear area where there is alot of sunlight. And use the same concept. The moisture from the ground will be collected. It works best in cooler months or set overnight to collect the dew. Try it out!

  • multiple distillations would remove all the food coloring.

  • Finally, one decent video on the subject. Thank you!

  • This is a real smart design.

  • This information is invaluable....thank you

  • Excelente! Facil, puede salvar muchas vidas!

  • Do I Need The Cat? :L:L

  • why would you add *anything* to the mix?

  • u can build one of these with any simple container in the ground but instead of water in the bottom put lots of plants

  • Does anyone know how to remove COREXIT dispersant out of water? I have a strong feeling the bozos are going to poison all our water supplies.

  • Nice vid!

  • It is what they learn in boy scout

  • dude whats the music?

  • Geez i put my radioactive isotopes in the pan and then drank the water now I glow at night!! Thanks a alot science guy!!

  • @killersushi99 jibberjabber

  • i wonder if i can do that with a kiddie pool and instead of grass and dirt just use tap water? i dont drink tap water because it contains fluoride, does this system remove fluoride?

  • thats good tiny sip very good sign

  • can someone tell me if that will work if u put sea water in it?

  • this is very educational. you help me a lot. thankyou.

im planning to help some distant people in our province, thier problem is supply of potable water. they merely drink water from any source for as long as it is not salty. they settle at sea side, the land is covered with sand and fresh water can only be obtained trough rain. when theres no rain then theres no supply for drinking water. now im gathering information so as to help these people.

  • What can we do to know if the water is safe or not? The plastic can leach into the water in the sun. I know a guy who went to the emergency room drinking water out of a 5 gallon plastic jug left in the sun for months....It was never opened but got plastic contamination and he got really hurt. They saved him.

  • Useless, where are you getting plastic wrap if you are stranded somewhere?

  • @southieal Tarp, any plastic or synthetic outdoor material on your person. There is no gaurantee that you'll have it if you're stranded, but in many theoretical situations, in this day and age, there is probably something that can be used this way, close at hand

  • @southieal do u think instead of plastic the thing can work with some thing else .

  • I think, i'll call that cat "Grass-Eating Cat" (TradeMark)

  • will this water work for triops the creatures

  • I tried this with a huge pot and bowl, but I used Fresnel lens and mirror. Worked great. Using the lens as solar water heater I didn't have to wait for hours. My water was evaporating within 30 seconds.

  • Thank you, im searching the best "cheap" way to distill water with simple materials, have you any idea for bigger versions ? (bigger in size)

  • @Thanatermesis try using a Fresnel lens. Search for it on youtube. Fresnel Lens solar water heater. Really works great.

  • @B4realalready hello there

its hard for me to search for fresnel lens here in philippines. can you share some ideas where i can buy one? i have one here and i got it from the old projector and its made in plastic. i think this one is good but over some period this plastic material will soon degrade. it would be perfect if i have the glass type.

  • 01. certain plastics leaks chemicals IN water when heated

    02. very small aluminum particles in water equals NEURON TOXINS !

    "safe" ??? yeah right ...

    John

  • Otto and egon are like : what is this shiny thingy?

  • whats this song called

  • @NerfCommander98 "a stupid song made on a mac with garageband 4"

  • ZackScott is the best!!!! DA BOMB!!! Thumbs up if your agree :)

  • nice! perfect for science lab with the kids!

  • learn something from your simple demo with color about pollution

  • I love it,a and u have a good way of showing things :)

  • AWESOME!!

  • OTTO NOOOOOO! :D:D

  • EGON NOOOOOO!!!!!!

  • So smart :)

    And good idea

  • lol cat eats grass

  • I will try pee, myself.

  • lol, the cat eating the grass

  • lol the cat was eatin the grass

  • hold on a sec can i distill alcohol this way too?

  • PUSSY CAT!!!!!!!!!

  • look at the cat just chillin

  • NICE!

  • just so you know dirnking to mutch off that water is danguros

  • @Gokill2 Explain.

  • @SavageArms357 the destiled water will have no salt & minerals in it and so if you drink to much you will get a lack of salt & minerals and may kock you unconsius

  • @Gokill2 I suppose extremely long term drinking of it wouldn't be good.

  • @SavageArms357 if you drink about a litre of destiled water whith out eating will be danguros

  • @Gokill2 your an idiot.

  • Good job Surviverman!

  • Isn't aluminum linked to Alzheimers and plastic bad for you as well??? Is there anything else you can use to replace these items?

  • we watched this video in my grade 8 science class hahaha and i was like thats zack scott and everyone was like who?

  • i think if u had a liquid with a higher boiling point that to water and was poisionous it might filter out depending on the heat of the day, its jusrt a thought if u want to try it

  • Next time, use urine as the water you start with. Show how it can also be made drinkable.

  • Excellent presentation. Love the cat! Particularly, I like how the narraration takes in stride that the feline is trying to steal the show (or, at least the parts).

    Virtual fist-bump for job-well-done.

  • Thanks Gilgamesh. I didn't realize flouride won't evaporate. My research showed me that water distillers DID get rid of the flouride. Maybe not THIS one, but other claimed they did. I guess I have more research to do. Thanks.

  • THANK YOU !!!

  • Does this process also Desalinize the water as well????

Also. what purpose does the soil ,grass have other than to illustrate the cleansing property of evaporation? does it effect the water on a microbial level? ie natural pre filtering??? or something? that will be of great benefit when the natural drinking supply either dries up or is completely compromised by pollution in 30 to 50 years or so..im investing in huge baking trays and shotguns!!

  • @hekillshe Yes, it should desalinate. Keep in mind the slow, limited quantities this produces, so go for "mutliple" rather than "huge."

And, I don't think the shotguns will help in the water purification process.....

    :-)

  • hahahaha, you should get also a bulletproof vest. I think we're gonna need experiments like this one, sooner than we thought. Not really sure about the soil question. Maybe it just changes the taste of the water.

  • haha. unfortuantely i think your right... i guess the trick may be to obtian a decent input water. and youll have a beeter result. i think walking down the beach and getiting water may be bad. since i plan on shooting everyone who touches my water. JK. just caue i feel the pollution will be less the farther offshore we go..

  • lol otto was munching on your science experiment XD

  • Its solid

  • I guess it won't filter the flouride I am trying to get out of the water either then.

  • It does

  • Comment removed

  • Dude!!! you have a nice nice video

    thank you!!

  • a super water energy...

step by step approaches to understanding the terrestrial world of energy LUMINICA fotronica active, which is the natural derivative of atomic energy and which produces no pollution at all, except that it is an energy that can be used with responsibility and safety mental cure all human diseases and other species ........

    Master of Masters

    perfect light and

    King of Kings

    Mr Jesus Super star

  • Excellent. Thanks for posting.

  • haha that cat was determined to steal that grass.

  • catnip perhaps?

  • thanks

  • haha aluminum... gotta love these americans.!

  • ASSHOLE

  • bisphenol A leaches out of plastics, and causes neural and behavioral problems among children, The study in today's Toxicology Letters provides evidence that heat — not frequent use — may pose the greatest problem.

  • does that mean platic distoller are hamrful too?what would you suggest?a ceramic water distiller? i'm sick of my brain turning to mush from all these poisons hiding in an innocent glass of tap water.

  • @esiosan Holy-Terrorist:>You know formulation of bisphenol A for the synthesis of phénol ? for TNP fabrication hehe !
