I'm against animal testing. It would be better if they tested on people that is suffering a disease or a animal that is suffering from a disease instead of testing on healthy ones

People can be morons about this; we need animal testing because of the terrible things that happen to the animals. If an animal gets sick from a tested product then we don't use it. If that product wasn't tested the consumer could die.

Testing is unnecessary as we know what chemicals are bad for us and which aren't. This just generates "approval" and liability protection. It is disturbing to see animals being treated this way. There are no laws protecting rats and mice. They are smart, very much like dogs.
@twixcookie But a chemical that's being mixed with other chemicals maybe doesn't react as good as with only one of them. And how are we supposed to find out what medication serves best for what disease? We still haven't found a cure for AIDS & Cancer + many more.
And if everyone all over the world suffered a decease that could only be cured with one medication that we didn't even test and the medication gave severe deadly side-effects of which we'd be extinct in 5 years of...well..we would all die. And don't get me started on medications. For the record I don't find "test it yourself" a valid point cause if a scientist makes, let's say 500 different experiments a year and tests it on himself..The rest is common sense
I think it's only acceptable when the testing is done for medical purposes, and when there's no other option (eg- testing on models or samples). If hurting some animals saves human lives, then of course, it isn't ideal but it has to be done.
However when they are testing things like cosmetics, thats horrible.Even when the are testing on animals for medical reasons, I think they should at least give them painkillers and make them comfortable- in lots of cases this doesn't happen:(

As a child I watched my mum almost die in hospital after being given a new type of cancer drug-she had battled cancer 5 times & had a relapse so required more "treatment". Modern medicine is based on animal testing and without animal testing there would not be modern medicine (or many other things for that matter) and vice versa. If you destroy the other one the other one ceases from existence too.

My friend got bitten by a diseased squirrel last week... he died from the complications. I didn't shoot the squirrel because I saw this video and decided to treat animals with the up-most respect. I think it's only acceptable when the testing is done for medical purposes, and when there's no other option (eg- testing on models or samples). If hurting some animals saves human lives, then of course, it isn't ideal but it has to be done.
However when they are testing things like cosmetics, thats horrible.Even when the are testing on animals for medical reasons, I think they should at least give them painkillers and make them comfortable- in lots of cases this doesn't happen:(

Maybe you think that medicines are useless, until you don't need them one day. Or maybe somebody dear to you would die without taking a medicine tested for 10 years on the cats before getting sold.

As a child I watched my mum almost die in hospital after being given a new type of cancer drug-she had battled cancer 5 times & had a relapse so required more "treatment". When the new drug was administed to her she went bood red,begin choking & her eyes almost popped out of her head,she went into anaphylactic shock-this was a drug which I know had been tested on animals and passed as safe for humans,as I`ve since researched it. Vivisection is completely pointless and is killing people everyday

Modern medicine is based on animal testing and without animal testing there would not be modern medicine (or many other things for that matter) and vice versa. If you destroy the other one the other one ceases from existence too.
If you choose to live without animal testing you'd basically have to live in a cave if you put it in a caricatured way.

Or should we run all biochemical tests virtually on a supercomputer? Thats sci-fi. Animal testing is insane and horrible (it brings technology to humans well not in all cases, but brings pain, suffering and death to millions of animals).

My friend got bitten by a diseased squirrel last week... he died from the complications. I didn't shoot the squirrel because I saw this video and decided to treat animals with the up-most respect. @supergrl41 unfortunately the affects on dead animals or even living individual cells will be different than on a living body, it's rare that what works on a cell will work in the body, the treatment of these animals should be better and we don't need cosmetics so animal testing for those means i'm against.

Every asshole who does this need to be made to watch this done to his/her kids, even forced to participate. While this is ocurring they should be housed as they have housed the animals they tortured, no water. They will be told from the start that as soon as their last remaining loved one is dead that they will go through the process themselves. This should be done to everyone and their family members who profit from this also. Exterminate the people doing this and their offspring.

Testing the testers would be valid for medical research. This would also give negative re enforcement for any other sadistic to get into this line of work.
