@FSSALS3OOD The 458 and Superleggera are 0.3s faster than the merc to 60. But the sls's amazing transmission, sound, looks and rear-wheel drive owns the other two. Even jeremy clarkson said that.

y cant BMW build a Z-R-V10, basically a Racing V10 engine 5.0L which produces around 655bhp, the engine type can be a front mounted like, sls amg, lexus lfa or rear mid engine mounted like, ferrari, porsche lamborghini....I think BMW should work with Mclaren to produce a Rear Mid Engine, Supercar....

wanna know the truth about this car? it started in life as a dodge viper replacement merc was helping chrysler but chrysler backruppted and merc took over and that's how this think was born.And know the viper replacement will be all knew and will arrive 2012

I don't want to insult this car bcuz I've heard great things about it but I'm really not that impressed. I'm more dissapointed bcuz they put only 571hp in it. and the Ferrari 458 I think is much better, and the McLaren MP4-12C is even better than that maybe. Sorry, I love this still but the other 2 cars in this class are just better from what I can tell & I like the way the other 2 look more too. the comptetition is really stiff

@thnk4urself : Considering the noise, the MP4 and the 458 don't even get close to this. Don't know if anybody noticed, but the noises of the 6,2L 6.3 AMG V8 and the 6,0L TT 65 AMG are so much more aggressive than those of a bmw or audi or whatever. The shreeking noises of an M5, the 458 or the MP4 are cool, too ... but the noise of the AMG engines are unbelievable!

I had a 65 Black next to me last week which i only realized because i felt the pressure generated by its engine through the windows

@AmvC yea it does sound awesome. it sounds like a beast. it's a different sound than a ferrari but still great. i don't get how people don't like the veyron's sound, i think it sounds amazing, like a total monster. I saw a M5 and a M3 yesterday, they sounded so sweet too. I saw a parked SL55 AMG but never heard one. also saw a ferrari F430 scuderia & that sounded amazing, one of my favorites. i'm excited about all of them

you never heard a 55 SC? :-) They sound like opera singers - low down like a muscle car and then as the revs rise they are ... well ... there's no word for it ^^ I love the 430 as well, but everyday, it'd be too much of a racecar-noise for me. I had a veyron next to me at some lights with a tunnel behind us. I bearly heard it, even with opened windows, but when he accellerated, i liked it. It was a very "perfect" noise with little emotion. But when you think "W16 QT" its great!

@AmvC yea i haven't heard any of the high end MB sports cars in person. The veyron has a nice low rumble and it sounds almost scary when it accelerates, especially from the outside of it. you don't think there's alot of emotion in it? it does sound pretty well put together so I could see that. i know what you mean about the ferrari too. in video games, race car noise are only good in moderation so I can def see that lol. how bout that Viper engine noise? not perfect but it is a beastly sound

@thnk4urself well, the veyron next to me didn't really accellerate, he just drove off. Would have loved to hear it driven a little harder ;-) ... never heard a viper! There are too few of them here in germany. There are a lot of corvettes (mostly Z06's) and mustangs (small V8's) but no vipers. The roads are too narrow, i guess :D What car do you drive?

@AmvC I just drive a mitsubishi 3000GT for now. I'm a college student so I'm kinda lucky I could even afford that lol i know it's called the GTO in japan. Germany's really cool. In America we do see Vipers & especially Corvettes. We call the vette the poor mans supercar lol we don't see alot of supercars bcuz our roads are horrible (at least in New England) and bumpy. alot of them would be impaled on our roads, that's why I see alot of BMW M5's & M3's

@wasrsrl Well that's not really a fair comparison to either of the cars, but if I'd have to choose it'll be the SLS. The reason I said so is because of the dual clutch transmission compared to the traditional 5 speed auto in the SLR. The SLR is an awesome car especially the 722 edition, but the SLS is just more hard edged, more of a trackster than the uber car SLR. If you put the same 7 speed transmission in the SLR as the SLS has, it would no comparison at all, the SLR would own. TRANSMISSION!
