Hi, i saw ur video and i like ur editing. i want to order this headphone bec i fly from time to time on plane. would u recommend it for planes jet noise cancelation?
It reduces the noise quite a bit. But for sleeping "decently" never worked for me on the 4 intercontinental flights where I used them on. The phones on the ear prevent leaning against anything sideways and the neck-rest won't work. To cancel out most noise I put ear-plugs on under them (to block the high freqs). That kind of worked.
But it's really great having these for the on-board entertainment system or if you're planing on listening to music from your portable.
I guess its more useful if you're trying to sleep without music or low volume.
In reality canceling out the engine and air noise won't help much. Getting rid of crying children, people going to the toilet and flushing it too loud, grannies sitting behind you poking the entertainment system and smelly persons would be more useful. Conclusion: I need my own plane...
@lhasarus I've tried lots, well three, of these Noise cancelling headphones. Ranging from €40 up to €120. While the ones at120 did work better then the others they still weren't worth the money just for the cancellation properties. Now I just use a pair of Grado's SR60 headphones on the plane. Great for me, but they give off a good bit of noise... oh well that's someone else is problem now... >:P
All I wanted it for was playing PM3's while riding the train and was worth it for a couple thousand yen. My old JVC head phones broke 3 months before the Japan trip (Can't find JVC in Australia?). For live or studio professional use its useless, Sennheiser is the way to go but it will cost you hundreds of dollars and has some fatal flaws. Professional and armature use is subjective...
what does it mean when u can turn off or on noise canceling? does it mean when you turn it off, you can hear your surroundings cause i dont get how a button can do that. i thought the only way to cancel out sound is how well is the insulation or how well the headphones fit on your head.
Noise Canceling works different than noise blocking. Destructive interference is used to cancel out the noise. Pretty interesting stuff. I could explain it more in detail but I guess reading the Wikipedia entries (search for "noise canceling" and "destructive interferance") would help you more.
If they do I didn't notice it. Last time I flied with KLM and they handed out very cheap over-ear head-phones (one-time use). They had bad sound quality and were very uncomfortable.
I guess you need to have the microphone that records the noise's frequency and amplitude very close by your ear so that the phase for the cancellation signal that is produced by the speakers is right for destructive interference. So feeding one signal for all passengers won't help.
because the speaker produce a "anti" signal t the noise that is canceling out the noise. For that you need to record the noise first. This is done by a microphone which needs power ^^
Interesting video... I'm always contemplating about getting a pair of NC headphones, but I never do. I can never justify paying over $20 for a pair of headphones...
Anyway, great to have you back. Looking forward to seeing what you'll do next. :)
I was trying for weeks to press me into justifying paying $100 for a pair by Philips NCHs. But I'm glad I found this cheaper version. So well...I conditioned myself to accept the price. Normally I wouldn't pay more than ~$15 for heaphones and ~$8 for earplugs.
Gunpla-wise I just ordered new kits (damn HLJ sale ^^), got slow progress on HG Gundam and restarted my work on Rei.
lol for some reason during the entire review i was sitting there waiting for a demonstration. halfway into it i thought... how can he demonstrate them? lmao! it made me laugh... btw, whats that book you showed briefly?
yeah...demonstration is pretty difficult with stuff like that XD
The book is "All you need is Kill" by Kiroshi Sakurazaka. It's a sci-fi novel that'll get it's anime transition ~ next year. Got good ratings...let's see...
After finishing my last travel-novels I picket this, Eureka 7 novel ep 1 and the Yukikaze novel up from amazon.
@hatunsaqra

Quietest plane ride I've ever experienced!! Great sound quality too :)

If can still hear something other then the music, it means you're not playing it loud enough! Who needs good hearing anyway???

The headsets on planes don't already have the engine noise cancellation signal mixed into the audio?

Traveling is very interesting but sucks o_O
Business trips...meh...I'd rather stay at home.

In regards to travel, I always figure, why you're going somewhere is just as important as where you're going.
Then again, I've not done much traveling myself...
