@colemwilson i love two strokes but i agree they swithched to four strokes becuse they are much more efficient and have more useable power. two strokes are more simple but much less efficient for every gallon of gas a quart will be spit out the exhaust wich makes them pollute more but its really not that bad

@colemwilson This bike revs out at 13.5K she screams, and has more power then a 250 2 smoke in torque and bottom to top torque "power band" then a two smoke. Got an 04 myself.

@YZtwostrokin I've owned and ridden both and the four is a quieter bike to ride.....as I said knowing your machine and performing your own maitenance will reduce your operating expenses, just rebuilt mine for under a grand and I know I won't have to touch it again bar oil changes for a while, you'll do twice the maitenance on yours mate I gaurantee you.

It happens regularly, that is why two strokes are having a resurgence. Now, adjust the valves on your 4t and I'll go ride, don't forget to change the engine oil every ride! I'm plenty happy with my bike, it's lighter, just as powerful, and maintenance is easy and fun, oh and my bike has e-start, not that it needs it, comes in handy though.

It's not about what's faster.. I have a YZ450 05 and it's fast as hell.. I'd trade it for a 250f in a heart beat.. They're more fun. Not many people use a 450 to it's full capabilities.. It's a personal preference.

i have a kx 250 and im thinking of tradeing for a 250 four stroke im not sure if i should or not any opinions?

Iv got a ktm 250 exc... and want to buy a new bike and dont know if to buy the 250f or 450f.
I dont want a 450 if the 250 has enough power cos it'll be more expensive to run.

noo, stick with the 2 strokes, they are the funnest to ride, and if you are getting a 4 stroke get a 450, or you will be downgrading

It's not about what's faster.. I have a YZ450 05 and it's fast as hell.. I'd trade it for a 250f in a heart beat.. They're more fun. Not many people use a 450 to it's full capabilities.. It's a personal preference.

@linx2256 ehh.. i have a yz250f and my dad has a CRF450R and we have rode eachothers and he likes my 250 but he dont like the power difference(not too much) and the speed isnt too much difference.

hey guys i have a 2005 yz 125 for sale! its all stock no mods. it just had a new top end,bottom end and carberatour put in it 2 months ago. the bike is in excellent condition it has never been raced just trail rode it has about 20 hours on it with me i am the 2nd owner i am asking about $1800 for and i will have a video of it up soon on my profile but if you want i can send you a picture of it from my phone just send me your number and i will send pics!!

an 08 09 yz250f would loose to a 2001-2005 model yz250f, they basicly dont make them to go as fast as they use to because of the amount of people that have died or been hurt on one, i have proven this by racing an 08 and an 09
250f with my 01 250f, i won every time, the best 250f out is a kawasaki

idodonuts i'm pretty sure that they are letting the 250 2 strokes run with the 250f's because they are actually pretty close. transworld mx did an article on it, and they can run together in the outdoor class. i think anyways.

@motoxluver88 option 1, your "buddy" needs a new top end. Option 2, your "buddy" isn't comfortable going fast, option 3, you're full of shit. I just got a new bike, 09 KTM 250 XC, which in my racing organization still races with 450's, will pull in any 450 on the track, not to mention how much faster I am through the woods compared to the guys on the 450's trying to drag the weight around through the singletrack

four strokes have alot more bottom end torque which is wat i love cos you can short shift on a slippery track and make good speed with fuck all wheel spin unlike a 2 stroke whick you have to rev the gears right out

o i think you mean torque and torque is the turning force of the engine and if you write down a spec for torque you should follow it with a symbol ( Newton meters or foot pounds) so people know what your talking about

man i was gonna buy a ktm 250sxf but right before i was about to pull out the cash the dealer told me every 100 hours it needs a whole new engine, he told me if it blew up it would cost 3grand. a 2 stroke costs only about 600 when you blow them up, so i bought a 06 cr 125, sick bike man but i think id like a yz 250f bettter

ok i dont believe you even have a bike you lieing cunt and a 125 will blow up twice as often as a 250 and a 250 4 stroke will need a new top end every 40/50 hours and if you rebuild them yourself it only costs 1000 at the absolute most
