ive got the MP .45 but i assume it is generally the same as the 9mm. when putting the spring back in does it need to just be placed back into that 90 degree notch?? i saw another video and it looked like the guy cranked it down farther past the notch.
you can never miss the protruding button (smaller) end should be the muzzle end and the rear of the spring into the assembly notch of the barrel lug (make sure it is properly centered). blue paint on spring most of M&P 9 others have yellow. either a color code for different caliber or a special wear & tear indicator not so sure.

This is a nice vid. Also saw your vid where you field stripped and cleaned the M&P and would love to see it again lit well like you did in this video. Regardless, you do a nice tutorial.
I am confused. I saw a video where a guy did not use that tool in the grip to take down the slide. Is the tool required or not? I don't like the idea of having to use a special tool. Please advise if you have time. thanks.
God bless you for uploading this USEFUL AND EASY TO FOLLOW TUTORIAL I personally Own a S&W 469 and couldn't dissamble it to clean it properly. THANKYOU AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU HA HA HA......
No you don't have to use the back strap tool to take the gun down. You can use your finger( But I would never do so if you bump the slide your going to have one hell of a bad day) you can use a pen or even a stick. But the tool is just easy because it's there already on the gun so you don't have to search for a tool.
Salamat! Good luck bro. THe only guns I saw in the PI were homemade bolt actions. I hear it's quite expensive to get a liscense as well, at least in Antique.
It's so much harder to put it back on [proper] than you made it look, of course, maybe it gets easier once the pistol breaks in. But this video is a godsend.
I have an M and P .40, and no matter how I try to reinsert the slide, I have to hold the take down lever or it will flip halfway, I know that the spring is seated properly. Does anybody think this is a problem? The gun functions flawlessly and disassembles fine and assembles fine as long as you hold the take down lever down. Any help is greatly appreciated.
congrats on your new m&p .40! but of course you have to properly center your spring to the assembly notch of the barrel lug before reinserting slide each time. please don't tear yourself up it's no big deal...actually you really have to hold the take down lever DOWN while inserting slide until it is fully rearward then release take down lever before allowing slide to move forward to its closed position.
you forgot to put the yellow lever back in position after putting the slide back. That may cause a scratch to the magazine follower as you finish assembly and load up the magazine.
It's a no no. In fact you have to make sure that the sear deactivation lever (yellow lever)is in the lower position protruding into the mag well while completing the assembly. Hence, the insertion of the magazine, the mag follower (if unloaded) or ammo cartridge (if loaded) pushes it back up and activates the sear. Again this is one unique safety feature of M&P. Thanks for the comment.
i haV A question im thinking about getting a gun i would like to know if u hav shot the glock 17 and the springfield 9 if so can u reccommned a gun for me to start off with thanks and great video!
at 18 sec into the vid you twisted it and pulled it out, now if you lefted it turned sideways and you put the magizene back in and pulled the triger, would the gun blow up!!!!!
it's not cockpin it's frame tool. has 2 functions 1. to pull deactivation sear lever down to magwell 2. holds the backstrap in place. hence, Firearm may still fire with or without it. to remove it you must turn it 1/4 counterclockwise. if left in that position halfround handle blocks magwell you won't be able to put magazine back. if you place magazine back before the frame tool and pull the trigger, yes FireArm will still fire.

thanks for the vid...I love my M&P 9!!!
I've tried all the Glocks, Taurus, and Beretta 92s, but the M&P is best for me.
I still want to try the FNP9 and the CZ...but I don't see any of them replacing my M&P.

it's one unique safety feature of M&P to disassemble FA without pressing the trigger deactivate sear lever using the tool. (that's the whole idea)
l1o2l3o4y5 2 years ago
Just use your finger if you don't care about accidentally getting pinched by the closing slide.

Nice video!
I have an M&P .40 S&W and love it! Now, if only ammo supply would get back to normal!
I was hoping for a way to get the firing pin out easily but it sure doesn't look like it to me.
