  • and whats up with those moves around the head? how retarded.

  • I'm a Gospel drummer and I'm glad that soultones has rock drummers and drummers THAT GROOVE the song and LOVE CHOPS. A Gospel player could put intensity behind this but the comment below is right, more than likely if Nick Smith got in this it would have chops ALL OVER it with no straight groove. Not saying he can't groove but the song is pretty moving

  • So what I'm hearing is that "gospel" drummers are the only ones who are allowed to use Soultone Cymbals. Not that someone in another genre may like the tone and feel of them and decide to use them instead for stuff like rock, blues, or funk?

What I see and hear here is someone who's playing to "HIS OWN ORIGINAL" song with "HIS OWN ORIGINAL" band with a drum part that sounds to me fits the song perfectly.

    Could he play less? Yes.

    Could he play more? Yes.

    Should he? No.

    Perfectly written drums.

    A+

  • Really, Gospel drummers? No, you didn't. Mike is so solid its insane and when it comes time to let loose with a fill, its always tasteful and suits the song. In addition, he one fast bastard, I've seen it first hand, the so called overplaying gospel guys should get in line and take some lessons from Mike G. And for the guy who said it would be cooler with a gospel drummer playing it, get out of your basement and go play in a band

  • Mike has groove, feel and really knows how to "own" every tune he plays. He is a top notch player and fully deserves the endorsement from Soultone. Great job Mike!!

  • Good job dude. You played for what the song asked for! Remember Chad Smith, not a gospel player, but still world renowned. Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one, and they all stink.

  • Now that's a joke if I've ever heard one...! The only thing a gospel drummer would do to this song is ruin it...!! I don't think a gospel drummer could rock out like this or play it w/ the same intensity. They would just spew all over it and basically overplay. For you mature musicians it's about playing for the song and if you don't know how to do that all the chops in the world aren't goin' to help you get the gig.....ya dig.

  • bottom line is.. studys have shown that a gospel drummer playing to this song makes it at least 32% cooler.

  • @winnerbaby44 really my study shows that Gospel players all need to be validated, Metal drummers would make it 68.97% cooler and that just puked up that 32%!!!...LOL

  • And he is sponsored, generous country U.S.A !

  • THIS GUYS OK NOT ALL THAT PROBABLY ONLY SPONSORED BECAUSE OF THE BAND HE PLAYS FOR HE REALLY ISNT ALL THAT GOSPEL CHOPS OR NOT OTHER ROCKERS DESERVE IT MORE THAN THIS GUY

    IM JUSS SAYING

  • but you gospel chopers just play the same thing over and over i have nothing against gopel but seryously every body copies every one in the way they play !!

  • And as you see no one likes him either

  • Most of the drummer on soultone are gospel chops and the way he play is not my genre and i dont like it unlike nick smith and ron allen they're really dope!

  • @josephkb214 the only reason they have several gospel cats is because no one else will have em....I record Gospel cats for a living and they all over-play ...Now I love gospel but as a recording engineer, I would rather hear a song instead of "oooh look what I can do"

  • Go away you aint gospel chops drummer

  • @josephkb214 ok?? so you are saying that soultone just makes cymbals for gospel drummers??
