I am a bit concerned by the long silence of Barack Obama with regards to the conflict in Israel/Palestine. I would have expected him to have said something earlier, I guess the world will have to wait and see what he does, when he assumes power later on this month. I really hope that he has a more balanced view/opinion of the situation in the middle east. I have so many of my friends and colleagues who have a high opinion of him but it all depends on how he uses his power and influence.

Generalities aside, I'm glad he's addressing the modernization of government systems. One example of where this needs to be done can be found in DHS. Over a year ago they 'updated' their retirement system, but the new system was so bad that it only successfully processed about 3% of all retirees. In the end these accounts had to be managed by hand because there was no back-up system. Some retirees are only now receiving their first checks. I hope Obama continues to be cognizant of these issues.

I am a bit concerned by the long silence of Barack Obama with regards to the conflict in Israel/Palestine. I would have expected him to have said something earlier, I guess the world will have to wait and see what he does, when he assumes power later on this month. I really hope that he has a more balanced view/opinion of the situation in the middle east. I have so many of my friends and colleagues who have a high opinion of him but it all depends on how he uses his power and influence.

Well I do believe there is change: good or bad, I dunno. But hey, believing in Obama or any politician is a lot more than I have done in a long time. And hoping this does not sound antisemitic: I myself have a world of complaints against the pseudo-state of Israel, although I disapprove of terrorism (eg hamas) it's obvious the Israelis are just playing shot n miss. And thus, its hard to believe Obama could not favor Israel as he already defended this stance pre-election day.

What shocks me is why a safe zone is not being created in Gaza for non-combatants. How can you win a war without winning over hearts and minds? You can't. Innocent Gazans should have somewhere to go to receive food and shelter from the fighting. The rules of war have been thrown out of the window in the last eight years. Generalities aside, I'm glad he's addressing the modernization of government systems. One example of where this needs to be done can be found in DHS. Over a year ago they 'updated' their retirement system, but the new system was so bad that it only successfully processed about 3% of all retirees. In the end these accounts had to be managed by hand because there was no back-up system. Some retirees are only now receiving their first checks. I hope Obama continues to be cognizant of these issues.

The bailout of the automotive sector should be tied solely to the REproduction of the electric car and restructuring production facilities to accomodate this new technology. Using renewable resources such as wind and solar will show us that the environment can prove to be an asset and remove us from oil dependancy. For the sake of humanity, stop this madness and restrain your ally Israel.
Stop the blockade forced upon by Israel and work for a viable peace deal with the different factions in Palestine.
Allow the Palestinians some breathing space and unblock the terrible choke to their civilians, then maybe you can solve the rocket problem.
As it stands now, if you can't even be there for them when times are tough, when can you?

once again an inspirational, motivational speech with common themes and few specifics.
stay involved people, get informed, and think independently and for yourself - don't just passively accept whatever is pushed by any political party or president.

So I agree we need to do what the Pres Elect says. We need to get the infrastructure built up and green. We HAVE to have health care, including dental. Our family is worse off since W took office. I am wanting to get the ball rolling... come on 20 January!

if in 4 yrs, we're still in Iraq, Afghanistan, No National Health Plan, No Socialized Education and the Green Economy was just a pipedream, then i urge all Americans to stand in solidarity with the world, with working class people like YOU, then the change will be from the bottom up, a true triumph of grassroots, we'll see.

Investigate Bushs give away of trillions without accounting. Check his Swiss bank account. Set fair tarriffs to give Am. comapanies a chance. Teach ethics to CEOs to treat workers with respect and take less from the company. This is for a start.
