  • The only people injecting racism into this race are the onces that are racist. I am white and I don't see color when I see Obama.

  • rate me 1-10 p

  • hey guys, Obama got white blood too so dnt call him black

  • Obama voted as a senator Against the BORN ALIVE CHILD DEFENCE ACT that means if after a failed abortion the BABY is born ALIVE put the BABY that is ALIVE in a bucket in the corner until the BABY is DEAD. That is something that is important to Obama . NOT ABORTION were talking.KILLING CHILDREN that are ALIVE.

  • sure they are doing it. but why people can't understand obama can be the first black president of the united states. this is a momumental event for the black community given the history in this country. when bill ran he had tons of black support, now that obama is running people want the united states to prove that we can move pass racial divide would that be so hard to do?

  • Once again, it was the Clinton campaign that brought up and continued to point out the obvious fact that Obama is black and saying that he was getting votes because he was black.

So Clinton brought the backlash on herself.

  • I am so sick of this PC BS. "Black" OH MY GOD! THAT GUY SAID BLACK!

  • What? Black people are voting for a black person? How racist.

  • Obama is always travelng the High Road in this very exhausting contest.

I have been, and will always remain a Bill Clinton fan, to the core.

I am a racist, cynnical person in many ways these days; however, I don't think it is fair to judge Obama for the lack of sense Rev, Wright continues to display.

We all make unwise choices along the way.

    Show me who is exempt.

  • Unwise choices yes. We are all probably guilty to some extent. I recently experienced the Clinton Chronicles. Someone actually on U turned me onto them. All those unaccounted for and myterious suicides. Unbelievable. I'll take the Rev. Wright anyday.

  • I think Jeremiah Wright made it perfectly crystal clear what Obama's positions are with regard to race and politics.

Even worse, rather than simply own up to it, Obama made the incredibly bald faced lie that he had no idea Wright held such views. Unfortunately for him, there is actual video of Obama listening to Wright engaging in hate speech and nodding emphatically in agreement with what he is saying.

    Nice.

  • link me to that video please... or would you like the link to mccain and his even more insane pastor where mccain is standing right beside him, formally endorsing him? =]

  • I'm sure you saw that on Fox news. Interesting point for you stupid idiots out there...FOX IS SLATED TOWARDS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY! duh...I'm a white woman. Instead of getting upset when I saw the accusations, I did my homework. Everything that Jeremiah Wright says is truth. It is just chopped up to look like hate speech. Like it or not, America's hands aren't clean. He makes us own up to it as Christian people. Do your homework. Douche.

  • you lie

  • well, you got it all wrong, huh?

  • do not vote for hillary,

    she s a liar and a cheater

  • I agree...so was her husband(referring to monica)

  • And about her social services "expertise" many are touting here....yeah right. Healthcare and Social Services did not improve during the Clinton Admin. EXCEPT for the illegal immigrants that get clinical and hospital care and interpretors....before your grandmother who has been a voting citizen and contributor to the economy and community for years. Oh...no...let's give all illegal immigrants a driver's license. Then when Chelsea gets hit by one of them...Hillary can whine some more.

  • Yeah, go ahead...vote for Hillary. You get what you vote for, idiots. SOME BODIES are not paying attention out there. Personal videos and media are not the way to vote, people. LEARN and THINK for yourselves. If you cannot do that....vote for Hillary. She will tell you what you need to do.

  • "There are always two parties, the party of the past and the party of the Future; the Establishment and the Movement..."

Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Historic Notes of Life and Letters in New England."

  • nice summary.

  • ron paul runs on the best platform and will actually run his whitehouse with the same honesty and integrity he's shown in his years as a civil servent.

  • What?sorry

  • Why are they believing in? I like the man and his overall populist message but I have problems with some of his hard real world ideas,,he's big on Ethanol but thats a boondoggle. He should see thru that or do his downstate Illinois farmers get the hand out?

  • I think we're seeing-once again-a contradiction between words and action. Obama says he's about the "new" and "uniting people" and yet he runs an ethno-centric campaign in South Carolina. One that started after Hillary won New Hampshire. Barack says Bill is peddling racial politics of the old, and yet he has his wife call Hillary a poor home maker to stir up sexism. This is not the man I want in the white house.

  • I want him out of this contest, and as far away from anyone with a microphone as possible.

  • was it ethno-centric when he was campaigning in iowa? no. did you think that he would totally ignore blacks? the reason why he has to campaign hard in black areas is because they were originally for hillary!

  • The only reason they were for Hillary is because they didn't think they could make someone of their own skin color president. Barack basically said, "white people will vote for me," and used that as the sole justification for his candidacy in South Carolina. The sad part is that it worked.

  • I really appreciate what you said. I think Bill has hurt Hillary's campaign a lot with his interjecting and fighting her battles and such. I was durprised and saddened that it was her campaign that interjected race into this election when it was already the elephant in the kitchen and could have stayed that way if we did not feel the need to point out the obvious. Obama is black. Hillary is a woman. Big effin deal. Talk about the issues.

  • Yes, they are. The HillaWillie campaign is playing the race card. Winning in S.C. makes Obama the Jesse Jackson candidate.

Translation: He is the candidate for "the Negros."

Remind HillaWillie she is dismissing all those white voters in Iowa. Obama is the President for all Americans.

  • Devin1498, you're freaking out, man. Did you miss a dose of your meds or something?

I suggest you step away from the keyboard for a bit.

  • I'm advocating under a grossly misrepresented presidential contest. the integrity of this process happens to be important to me, and after the last 7 years I don't want another shallow sentimental president.

  • You're free to vote for who you want. You're also free to say what you like in defense of your vote.

For me, I know I don't base my vote off "sentiment" or fairytales. I look at voting record, I look at accountability, and I look at judgment. Clinton hasn't displayed the type of judgment that I feel is important for a President, and I've become increasingly convinced that she and Bill will do anything in their pursuit of power. All things considered, I like Barack.

  • When voters proclaim they are voting on who they LIKE and not who they think will do the best job I don't hear anyone's outrage, even though it demeans the voting process, and reduces the presidency to a personality.

  • When its a racial vote that benefits Barack Obama I don't hear anyone's outrage, even though it injects prejudice into this vote, and when women vote for Hillary they are prosecuted for voting on gender.

  • Injecting race doesn't benifit from race being injected into the nomination. Here is a quote from the AP:

"Clinton campaign strategists denied any intentional effort to stir the racial debate. But they said they believe the fallout has had the effect of branding Obama as "the black candidate," a tag that could hurt him outside the South."

  • Somehow, my post got chopped. That should have read: Obama doesn't benefit from race being injected into the nomination. Here is a quote from the AP:

"Clinton campaign strategists denied any intentional effort to stir the racial debate. But they said they believe the fallout has had the effect of branding Obama as "the black candidate," a tag that could hurt him outside the South."

Both camps know this. The Clinton's tried to use it, and overplayed their hand. It backfired badly.

  • That's exactly why its illogical to say Hillary is running a racist campaign. Why the fuck would she want to piss off or discriminate against black voters? Its the black voters-the black columnists to called "fairy tale" racist-the preachers who told Bill to chill-its those who've labeled Barack as the black candidate.

  • The fact that the Associated Press has the angle of the Clintons injecting race is itself the problem here. The media is hard on the Clintons and they're eating up Obama's message of "old vs new"-which plays to his race btw. This campaign should be about emotion vs logic.

  • The AP gave the Clinton's the benefit of the doubt throughout, as nobody wants to think the worst of anyone (especially an ex President). The Jesse Jackson comment was so obvious and out of left field, it left no doubt about what narrative Bill was attempting to promote.

  • I disagree. Bill honestly compared Barak to Jesee because he was making the case that a black cndidate would do well there. So, it's OK if a Poli Sci professor says it? I just typed it, does that make me racist? All the talking heads were saying as a black candidate he would do well with black voters. The story all Fall was that Barack wasn't "black enough."

  • Not at all, but the context that Clinton invoked Jackson left no doubt in any political observer exactly what his real intent was.

Bill knows the game. He's been around a very long time, and he's a southern politician himself. He didn't get to where he's gotten, both in Arkansas and on the national scene without know the coded language of southern racial politics.

In that one instant though, he overstepped badly and basically shattered his credibility within the party probably for good.

  • The logic behind the sort of coded campaign she ran in SC (and to some degree in Nevada) is that the more the public identifies Obama as "the black candidate", the more marginalized he is across the country. I suspect you already realize this, but I'll take the time to spell it out anyway.

  • When Barack Obama's surrogates says Bill Clinton describes Obama's candidacy a 'fairy tail' and specifically relates it to Obama's blackness, I don't here anyone's outrage-even though it injects race into this debate, and misconstrues Bill's comments.

  • When Michelle Obama says "If you can't run your own house you can't run the white house" I don't here anyone making comments. Even though that's injecting gender into this debate, and its a PERSONAL shot against Hillary Clinton.

  • bring the military home from germany, japan, england, and all the other countries we have no business being in

  • "...and not recognize the black voters in Iowa."

Iowa has a 2% black population. What are you suggesting he should consider about them?

  • Of course he won it on his own merits. To suggest otherwise is just being petulant, or to accuse him of something underhanded.

The one thing I do agree with though is that Clinton(s) lost the votes as much as Barack won them. 4 weeks ago, they still had strong black support nationwide. That support evaporated as people saw how dismissive Bill was to Obama. They blew this one on their own.

  • I'm not sure what Edwards winning the white male vote has to do with anything. He's from the state, so he has a core of support. He also ran the best campaign he could at this point, he saved up his money, and he did his best to target voters that would respond to him.

The Clinton's pissed off an important voting coalition. Did you ask these same types of questions when Hillary pulled the vast majority of women in NH?

  • My underlying point is that there is prejudice in the voting process and Bill Clinton saliently pointing this out is not unfortunate or racist.

  • Yeah, I guess Bill Clinton was bravely trying to point out how unjust it was that blacks were offended by comments coming from his campaign and his dismissive treatment of a fellow party member.

Nobody OWES anyone their vote. You have to go out and earn it. Again, no one asked why women voted overwhelmingly for Clinton in NH. OMG, prejudice!

  • 4 weeks ago, the Clinton's had plenty of black support. Then came the "maybe he was a drug dealer?" line. Then came the "shuck and jive" foolishness. "Hip black friend". Bob Johnson. A steady stream of small things that taken together spelled out a distressing pattern.

Black voters sent the Clinton's a message. Is that prejudice? Not in my book.

  • The Clintons are playing Rovian (Karl Rove) politics, dividing and conquering. As with Rove, this policy may work in the short run, but may be quite damaging in the long run. The Clintons are writing off the black vote in the primaries, thinking that they will come back in the general election. What they are discounting are all of the hard feelings they are creating, hard feelings which might prevent a future Clinton/Obama ticket. (I doubt Obama would ever consider Clinton as his VP)

  • obama!

  • I don't recall Clinton winning the '92 election by being an attack dog. I thought he won because he connected with the people. That connection has vanished today because he took it for granted.

Also, how do you win the Democratic nomination with zero percent of the black vote?

  • as long as u only bring positive vids bout obama, i just ignore em...

  • Great analysis John.

  • Bill Clinton is a man who has enjoyed blind support from the African American community in the past, but now he turns sour when Black voters will not automatically vote for his wife as they once supported him. Bill plays a very divisive and polarizing role in this campaign -- do the Clintons care about the wounds they are opening up, or is their only concern that they be returned to power no matter what?

  • classic14rider, Yes everything you said. :)
