  • A little bit of Kimchi goes a long way, and allows you to pretend ramen is good for you.

  • Im seriously not sure if this is a joke or not, but this will help me save money!

  • Wow, that was a crapload of butter. Maybe... a little less butter, if you MUST add it.

Also, I liked to stir in a raw egg and have it cooked by the hot broth.

Sriracha is a great too, as many others mentioned.

  • @scyldschefing Nah, they need to use I cannot believe it's not butter butter. lol

  • Chicken flavoured ramen tasted pretty good with a bit of cheese.

  • Ramen, Squirt of lime, Sriracha (that cock hot sauce). Somewhat spicy, mostly delicious though. If you want to make it even better, grate some fresh ginger into it and cut up a scallion (green onion) and a few thin slices of roast pork...it gets a bit more expensive that way too though

  • You guys need to bring this back!

  • i eat ramen dry strait out of the packet

  • Ignore the flavor packet and just boil the noodles. When the noodles are done, drain and rinse the noodles and heat a frying pan on high with some olive oil. When the oil is just starting to smoke, add half a bag of frozen vegetables. When the vegetables have thawed, add the noodles and some soy sauce. Stir and serve once the noodles soak up the sauce.

For added bonus, after the noodles have soaked up the sauce push them out to the sides and put an egg in the middle. Full on stir fry!

  • @jadesaturn Yep, I do this kind of thing quite frequently. Fast, easy, cheap.

  • black beans, coconut milk and a dab of peanut butter. ignore the spice pack all together.

  • Miso paste

    dashi stock.

  • Way to spice up ramen = spices.

Jerk and Cajun seasoning makes it amazing.

  • Not ramen based but super fast and fairly cheap:

Tin of baked beans + tin of tuna + some cheese if you have it

put in pan, boil for like five minutes, consume.

  • While the Ramen is cooking (full flavor packet), dip ~3TBsp of water out of it, add to another bowl, and mix in ~2TBsp Peanut Butter and ~1tsp hot sauce. When the Ramen is cooked, drain off the sauce and mix it in with the Peanut Butter mix. Instant Somewhat-PadThai-Like-Food.

  • When you start, add some Mrs Dash (or similar no-salt mix) to the water. It smells wonderful, and allows you to have decent flavor while using less of the flavor packet.

You can also toss the noodles into thin soup to add to it, they'll soak up the flavor of the soup just fine.

  • @fluffyxsama Using the whole flavor packet, PLUS butter, PLUS chicken broth, you've actually managed to make ramen even less healthy. Grats. :)

  • Ok I was definitely with you on these up till now, all good tips, but that ramen thing sounds fucking disgusting. frozen vegetables, ramen noodles with no flavor packet, pork, and eggs? Why don't you just take a shit directly in my mouth?

  • @ExosusAreus I see you knocking it. Is it safe to assume, then, that you have already tried it? If not, please do and get back to the rest of us who know how to make a delicious food meal on the cheap.

  • @ExosusAreus If you want me to shit in your mouth, it can be arranged >:)

  • Another way of reducing the salt is by buying bullion/stock cubes that are low sodium and using them instead of the flavouring packets, they usually have about a third of salt of regular cubes and the same amount of flavour.

  • tiny can of V8 mixed in barely costs anything more and pumps up the nutritional value and flavour.

  • 1500 milligrams (or, you know, 1.5 grams)? Oh no, a whole pinch of salt!

  • @TheDarkKnight0333 Doctors recommend at most 6g of salt per person per day.

  • Fluffy's Most Amazing Creamy Chicken Ramen Ingredients: 1 pkg Creamy Chicken Ramen (incl. flavor packet) 1 c. water 1 c. chicken broth 1 egg, beaten. 2 Tbsp. butter Directions: 1. Combine water & broth in a saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. 2. Add noodles and butter. Boil for 3 minutes. 3. Add egg and stir until egg cooked. Remove from heat. 4. Stir in flavor packet. Soup will become creamier as it cools. Try the same for beef Ramen, substituting beef broth. Delicious!
  • this. this is awesome

  • What I like to do is dump in the entire flavour packet and then just shit out the extra sodium, cunts. :D

  • I chuck out the flavour packet, put the ramen in the bowl I'm gonna eat it out of and cover it in boiling water until soft. Meanwhile I fry up some minced garlic and smoked sausage and pour over some ABC sweet soya sauce. Then I add drain the ramen and add it to the pan, mix it all up and then serve.

  • Use less powder, use less water. You can also just use some powder and toss it around with drained moist noodles, resulting in a sort of dry noodle dish. Although it risks being unbearably salty tasting if you get the amount of powder wrong.

But well, for dry instant noodles, stick with Indomee instead of trying to macgyver it out of instant ramen.

  • rasmussen.edu/student-life/blogs/college-life/ramen-noodle-recipes/

  • get the chicken flavored ramen, heat a pot of water, put the packet in, crack some eggs into the boiling pot, then put the ramen in. Cook for like 3 mins and you're done.

It's the ramen version of 'egg drop soup'

  • Curry powder with chicken flavored ramen: INSTANT INDIAN DELIGHT.

  • @hoobajoo Do it with beef ramen for a culturally confusing version.

  • forget cooking the egg first, just drop in the raw egg right before the noodles are done and scramble it in the noodles!

  • Its all in the way you prepare it. Now this is not any healthier but it does taste better.

Take your package of ramen and crush it, you want the pieces to be pretty small but you don't want noodle dust. Pour crushed noodles into a bowl and add flavor pack, shake the bowl as to get an even distribution of flavoring. Then add just enough water to make the crushed noodles float. Place in 1100 Watt microwave for 2:30 and then all you need to do is add a little water and eat with a spoon.

    Enjoy!

  • Found this while I was eating some ramen!

Not exactly healthy, but still good... Saute a sliced up hot dog and/or hot links, and any other leftovers you have along with onion... Boil chile flavor ramen, and add soy sauce and hot sauce partway through. Add saute mix to ramen when it's ready, then throw in some shredded cheddar cheese... Strain a bit, and enjoy!

  • ALL NOODLE DISHES ARE IMPROVED BY ADDING GRATED/SHREDDED MOZZARELLA CHEESE TO THE NOODLES AS SOON AS THEY ARE COOKED AND WHILE THEY'RE STILL STEAMING. MIX WELL AND ENJOY AS IT MELTS EVENLY ALL OVER EVERYTHING.

  • Boil the ramen. DO NOT use the flavour packet. Instead, drain the water and add soy sauce. And if you have money, also baby shrimp. YUM.

If you don't have money, try imitation crab meat.

  • Get an egg and beat the BAJEESUS out of it! Cook the ramen as normal, but also add to the water some veggies, either frozen or whatever you got. Onion I think is good in this. Same with some tiny pieces of water chestnuts. And especially some small cubes of tofu, if available. If not, meh. It's fine. When the ramen is cook, and all the veggies are hot, keep stirring the soup as you SLOWLY pour in the egg. TAH DAH! Egg drop soup! But with noodles in it so it fills you up more! 8D

  • First, get rid of the spice packet. NO WAIT! Save it. You can ACTUALLY turn that stuff into gravy! 8D

Second, boil the ramen noodles. Once they're cooked and drained, set them aside. Then, for less dishes, use the same pot and heat up some oil, or butter, some kind of grease. Grab a bag of frozen veggies and fry em up! Add the noodles, and some spice, if you'd like. I like cajun and pepper. Fry for a little bit longer, then eat! Instant mongolian stir fry. WHOO!

  • Bouillon cubes, most of that meat flavour, very little of the price.

  • Lots of spices, broccoli, and boil a raw egg right into it, also you can add cheese. Ramen can be like a soup, you can put anything you want into it.

  • I fry an egg on top of a raft of noodles in shallow water. If you can balance the egg, you can enjoy all that gooey yoke mixing in with the eggs.

  • I throw spiced garlic and peppers into mine to give it an extra kick in flavour.

  • Cabbage and sprouts are ridiculously cheap, and a little bit added to ramen makes it a whole lot healthier and tastier.

  • All of the meals so far were high on carbs - how about some low carb meal options? Replace the ramen with more vegetables - perhaps cauliflower, cabbage; Increase protein content by adding more mystery meat and eggs; Thicken it up with some beans and/or lentils, increase the cooking time. Also food safety reminder: cook / boil mystery meat thoroughly, make sure it's definitely dead all the way through. Consume within 4 hours of cooking.

  • One word: Sriracha

  • @Jadrie1 PROBLEM SOOOOLVED!

  • Now if only we could get teachers to play these in schools...

  • I add a half a can of tomato paste, and when it's done and in the bowl, add some cheese and allow to melt. Delicious tomato Ramen because they stopped making that flavor years ago.
