i dont get steve morse..on purple ballads me makes great solos (and it wouldn't be too much saying that they're better than the studio version)...but in songs like smoke on the water, perfect strangers he ruins the song with false harmonics, artificial guitar tone and stupid solos

i know steve is a truely amazing guitarist, but when he plays the blackmore stuff it sounds shite. and before i get '' oh steves a far better player than blackmore'' i know that steves technically the better player, but blackmore wipes the floor with him when it comes to playing with feel. if in doubt listen to the solo from the original, hairs stand to attention.

I personally like Steve Morse better,but that said, they are both GREAT GUITARSITS.Ive met Steve before and he is VERY gracious & humble in person -very nice guy & the TOTAL consumate professional at that -- and he FLIES the band to gigs (!!)--the guy is very unique. Ive seen DP 2x:,all I can say is it is a phenominal show-I wish them more years of continued success.

Sure, Steve is a great musician, one of the best guitarists all over the world (in my opinion) i didn´t want to say anything against this fact.

Only, that he has another style. No worse style, just another. I heard a lot Deep Purple in the last days. Lots of new "Stuff! well, i have to say: GREAT! BRILLIANT! Now I think, that i notice the "soul". It is there but i didn´t notice it, because it has another style.
