I kinda figured Axel's real name was something like that. When I saw that Sora's nobody Roxas contained all the same letters as Sora in his name plus "X', it all fell into place. Just remove the "X" and rearrange the letters. Not very imaginative on their part.

ven's heart gets split in half and his dark half separates from him, and what's left of ven's is all light, so it attracted sora's heart, but ven 's heart was fractured and it was slipping away. so sora's heart merged with his to make it whole.

at the end when ven's heart gets put back together, he loses it, and it finds it's way back to sora.

that's also why grown up sora looks like vanitas (ven's dark half)

I love this scene. Tetsuya Normura said this was one of the games most important scenes and now I know why, it explains why Axel and Roxas are such good friends, and why Axel can "feel" despite being a Nobody, with Roxas he's reminded of his time with Ventus, as a being with a heart.
