@zerghellion technically there are no 'animatronics'. No servos or motors were used. Each hinge simply tensioned by using enough rubber bands to counter-balance the weight of the segment.
@braedenb12 its one of the first K'netic sculptures I did. (get it?...) The only video of it can be seen in the "k'nex Kenetic Wave Sculpture" vid on my channel.
WOW that's amazing! Ive been looking at some mechanical tails and by far this is the best one! but how would you be able to control how it moves? ^_^; i kinda saw how it knocked into the doorframe lol..... But anyways Great Job!
@DottorAlice I would never fur this design as it is too flimsy as it is without the weight, but even if I furred a final tail, it could be removed either by spliting a velcro seam on the bottom, or just by sliding it off as a sewn tube.
idk if you saw my older videos, but i dabled in k'nex tails. they ended up not being as strong as i needed, as you yourself said, and i moved onto more ridget parts.
i do suggest, that if your going to stick with k'nex is that you find a very powerful plastic epoxy and glue it at all the connection points(the snap spots, not the bending joints)
oi zow thats epic!

wish i could make something like that for my tail
smileydeven2236 1 year ago
Nice concept. Now all you have to do is remake it in a stronger material so it can hold the whole tail's weight! Keep it up! :D

it should make it much much stronger.
just my 2 cents : 3

thats actually pretty great. if you got it worked just right with the right materials...a sweet costume with your power-risers would be fantastic.
