Motley, Poison and Cinderella were not far behind, though. Iron Maiden and Metallica was a completely different following and came into their own in the late 80's, but more so in the early 90's. Duran Duran was part of the new-wave following - along with REM, PIL, The Cure, etc.

Lastly - I'm not looking up shit. because I was there and lived it. Kids!

I knew of Maiden/Metallica in the early 80's, but most kids my age thought they were a little "hard" for our liking - at that time, anyway. By the the late 80's we were so sick of all the glam/hair bands, we revolted and switched to heavy metal. About that time, 89/90, all these bands blew-up and went global. Most of the kids of my era then started flocking to the concerts around 91+. I actually saw Metallica 15 times from 91 - 95.

That term was reserved for the likes of MJ (the undisputed King of Pop), Prince, Wham, Sheila E. and a few other "groups" that attracted all the girls... basically, we only listened to them to get the girls. I'm a fan of most of that music now, but no so much in the 80's.

Let me ask you this... did you actually grow up in the 80's or was your musical prowess formed with the introduction of YT - like most that debate these topics?
