I don't know why this happened, but i hate protests, they're a waste of time and money and i'm sick of seeing them on the news, someone tell me if anything productive came out of this protest?
Damn Camera Man, why did you tell the cops that they're doing a good job!? They shove you to the ground and force you to SUBMIT to them and you Compliment them??? --That's worse than Thanking a cop after he pulls you over and gives you a speeding ticket. ---Welcome in our new POLICE STATE!!
I was happy to compliment and comply because a) this was not my fight or cause, I was merely a witness and b) I wanted to make sure I would get the video out so that alll could see. There was no network news present, so my video as well as the video of others were the only record. And people were getting cameras and camcorders confiscated. That's why I was trying to hang near those with press credentials, even if it was the local college paper.
i think it's called entrapment, when a group of police circles you up so you can't leave, orders you to disperse and then arrests you because you won't leave.
I wasn't involved in this, but i got to bail out a couple of close friends who were the victims of this abuse of power.
Today at critical mass a motorcycle cop ran over a girl on a bike and rode away. At the codepink protest a police officer knocked a female protester to the ground and called her a "bitch"
I am a state representative from Kentucky and this saddens me. These citizens are displaying their 1st adm. right! What has happened to this country... good video!
Arresting people trying to speak their mind is not democracy in action, especially when these people are non-violent. That's called coercion, and has nothing to do with democracy.

Non-violent...whatever. They get what they deserve provoking the police by trying to march into restricted area. The world isn't the lefty radicals' playground to do whatever they want.
Restricting people's right to free speech to a small, fenced in area roughly one mile from the place they want to protest isn't what the first amendment is about. While many of these "protesters" are kids who have nothing better to do, it's still thier right to protest, the right to assemble and protest is crucial in our society, and it is slowly being taken away.
We also have the right not to have to sit and listen to the protesters' communist banter. Especially when it involves some 20 year old kid with a mask chanting peace while wearing a Che Guevara shirt (quite the contradiction, no?). Do these kids even know who Che is, and what he has done?
They have the right to protest, not the right to clog whole areas of a city and shut it down. Free speech is not free reign.
It is though, that's the beauty of it. Any other way it cannot be called "Free". Our freedom will not be measured out in doses to be taken when and where we are told. And pointing out personal contradictions are no reason to write off a whole spectrum of ideas, a good number of which have very good reason and arguments. Of course the squeaky wheels are the ones that will be the spokes-persons of these ideas, whether the ideas consent to it or not. Do not write us off because of it.
Your right to not listen doesnt include shutting them up or requiring them to only speak in designated areas far away from what they are protesting. The first amendment gives us the assemble and speak, no matter who wants to hear it.
Free Speech doesnt (and shouldn't) equal free reign, but security doesnt have to equal oppression either.
Thier message is irrelevant. Hypocrisy is irrelevant. It's thier right to speak thier minds thats the point.
it's called give them an inch and they take a fucking mile. these idiots don't understand what they are doing or what they are yelling about. they don't even know what they are commenting about. i am a total lefty but the leftys posting on here are radicals with no respect, perspective, or comprehension of reality. they are delusional and full of fear and they call us ignorant or uneducated. funny, i am an art student in the middle of san francisco and i am taking sides with a marine.
hey GAYrock732...Who the fuck are you?...Some fucking faggot who has never done a positive thing in his life huh?...Always talking like you got the juice but, you don't know shit...YOU are the pawn!...The pawn of groups like these ones...Always a follower, never a leader..BECAUSE YOU NEED PEOPLE TO TELL YOU WHAT TO DO YOU FUCKING BRAINLESS CLOWN...GROW SOME NUTS AND LOOK AT BOTH SIDES OF THE COIN DICKHEAD!
yeah man. i am not military but you are a bitch. what kind of shit head are you? if we didn't have "pawns" you would be in a third world country. anyone who thinks we can have what we have without a price tag is foolish. if you don't like it then move to canada. personally i don't like the states. it's not for me so i am moving. but i am certainly not going to bad mouth a marine for no fucking reason. if everyone was like you then we would be in a very bad. have some fucking respect.
But i do believe it is democracy in action... for they spoke their mind, in their way.
The rule of law (created by those we the people put in power) was enforced. Myself and others were ALLOWED to record these eevents. They will get their day in court. Videos and commentaries such as this will circulate. And these people will not disappear (Tienaman Square anyone?)
are you fucking serious? tienaman square? you got to be fucking kidding me. this isn't shit. bunch of pussies whining about nothing. and then you people call me naive? go to a real country without order and tell me how much you'd rather live there. fucking idiots. get a fucking life.
I think you missed my point. Even though some may call this a police state or what have you, people can STILL do things of this nature and NOT have to worry about disappearing, or being imprisoned indefinately. This is NOT China, Franco's Spain Pinchot's Argentina, the Soviet Union, etc. This is America... If we think people are right or wrong, passive in their views or aggresive, it can happen without fear of TRUE reprucussion from the state (despite the Bush administration's best efforts).
well then we agree. i wouldn't get caught up in people's fear and hype despite peoples best efforts to get dramatic and make their boring shit lives more interesting. besides the fear these people accuse any administration of creating is the same exact fear they have succumb to. which is terribly ironic and sad.
You're right... This isn't China. While I may not agree with any of the particular protesters ive seen out there so far, I am saddened and worried about thier treatment. The government is restricting areas where you can protest, in direct violation of the first amendment. Even if we don't agree with these protesters, it's in all our best intrests to make sure thier right to be heard is upheld, regardless of what we think of thier message... Or pretty soon, this might as well be China, or Cuba
Our government is in LEAGUE with china, dude! We're already there! It's right around the vorner! I'm leaving as soon as I'm out of collage. I'm fluent in swedish, so I think I'll give there a try.
