  • I'm a runner. My usual week is 3 runs of between 4-6 miles. I have about 15 pounds of fat I need to lose. Should I do burst training instead of my long runs? Should I cut out those long runs while I'm trying to lose this fat? And my wife likes to walk about 3 miles in the evening. If I walk with her, will I lose the benefit of my earlier burst training? We walk at about an 18-minute mile pace, so not anaerobic. Thanks!

  • @richcook99 Your best bet for Fat Loss and Anti-Aging is the burst training by far over running for many reasons. So yes cut the running out if weight loss is a goal. Then a healthy run every once in awhile is fine but do not do it consistently for fat loss. A slow walk may effect it a some but the walk with your wife is also a good thing too.

  • If someone had bad knees (or wanted to avoid getting bad knees), why would he or she risk burst training at all? Wouldn't a high intensity resistance workout be sufficient for the metabolic stimulus to lose fat & gain muscle - without involving the excess momentum or instability seen in the squat thrust you demonstrate?

  • @casualremark1 I have found that most bad knees unless damaged can be decreased in pain and sensitivity by using an anti-inflammatory diet such as my cellular healing diet. The proprioceptive stimulation shown in this exercise can be a benefit to most individuals. However, like you stated a high intensity restive work out can be used to generate the same benefit for fat loss and muscle gain.

  • Thanks for the great video! I could really use some advice from you Dr. Pompa

I am overweight and want to lose weight while gaining muscle,i after watching this video i made a program by myself just want you to check it is it proper for my goal? is: tuesday: 3 times of 5 minutes bursts (running on spot/jumping jacks etc.) wednesay:rest thursday: 3 times of 5 minutes bursts. friday rest saturday: weight lifting with dumbells(arms shoulder chest, back) ? Is this program would work for lose weight?

  • I've read about surge or burst or interval training but never really tried it until last week. I started by sprinting last Tuesday and then I started doing some research and found this video and did this exercise. It was awesome! I've been alternating sprinting and squat thrusts. For example, I did sprinting on Sunday and squat thrusts on Tuesday. I believe there is something to burst training. I know a lot of long-distance runners and very few of them have really great, lean bodies.

  • Hi, I would be really thankful if you could help me a bit...

I'm a student. so I don't have much free time... I'm about 27, and have 67kg... could you reccomend me how to lose a bit 4-5kg and get all my muscles just a bit more in shape... and if you could give me some link with posible exercises... because I find so many of them, and cann't really make a choice what exercises are good for all-over muscles (of course I watched your videos, so I got some idea hot to work out) Thank you so much!!!

  • thanks doc :)

  • Hi Dr. Pompa,

Thanks for your fair information videos.

I'd be very interrested if i could watch your full "seminar" like videos, i'm a fitness/health enthusiast and all your information is very valuable for me.

Also, i'm curious about your cellular detox, is it possible to go trough such a detox by eating this "healing" diet only? And in which timeframe will such an event take place? Will it take you a month/week/year/etc?

    Thank you

  • i would appreciate it so much doc if you suggest to me a workout plan considering that i want to gain muscle mass and lose fat and that my workouts days are : monday & tuesday - wednesday rest - thursday - friday rest - saturday - sunday rest.... plz and thanks in advance

  • just do burst on mon/weds only

do resistive training on the other days specific muscle groups. There are lots of ways to work out the bursting will get you the cardio you need and optimize weight loss and muscle gain...increasing T and HGH in the correct direction...my bussiness partner just does the squat thrusts in varying ways 3 times a week with some extra curls and bench on the ball and lost 4% body fat (now 7.5%) and gained several pounds of muscle in just 2 months. this is common.

  • so should you do weights every day of the week

that your not doing burst training

    thanks
