  • Everytime I come back to this video I would like to thumb up, though I doubt it works on IP adresses recognition, so I will try to visit that page from all over the world where I can connect.

Marcel, you deserve more than standing there in the shadow, like I said, you and Patrick Rondat (check him too here on YouTube) deserve more, hope people will pass the word, that finally you can live with and by your natural talent.

  • Kikebish (=gooseflesh) when I listen to it, thank you so much mijn kleine biske, als een Brusseleir, maar ik zal zeggen mijn klein Oranje ;)

    Thanks again bro.

  • @Blamberweiserscheise ... thank you so much my little "Brussels word, no official dictionary for it" untranslatable, but I will say my little Orange.

    ...

  • To me, I told you personaly mijn kleine Oranje (my small Orange), (Orange being the color of the Netherlands, check out Wiki for more on that) you're equal to Patrick Rondat as my two guitar heroes. We already met Marcel (though not being for men) keep it going please, I love you mijn kleine Oranje.

  • @Veradoradehon I met him at Graspop in Belgium, though not having yet a chance to play on one of the four stages by day you could see him play with his band on after parties when most people get to their tent thinking it's over for the day ;)

  • @Blamberweiserscheise And Marcel is a really cool guy, have to say it.

  • @Blamberweiserscheise Though he was invited onstage by a more known guitar hero, was it Satriani, Vai or else, sorry, I was too drunk to remember.

  • This nigga has an amazing phrasing and technique... definitelly he will be on my list of favorite guitar players

  • I've never heard of this guy but he just kicked my ass!

  • Zeer mooi! :)

  • Love the guitar!

  • fantastic man!! ;)

  • his sweeps on graspop were sick

  • The guitar sound like a band of angels singing over Marcel's head. Ibanez make the best guitars and in the hands of Marcel they sound amazing. Brillant and breath taking stuff from the Dutch master player.

    and an awesome guitarist

  • OMG!!!!! really GREAT!!!!!!

  • what kind of rig and pedal effect does he use to come up with that very nice tone? pls tell me.

  • @MisterWhatever200 i think in the video he still used his jmp-1 + mesa simul class 295 and the rest of the rack u see in the background.

Now he uses Laney Amplifiers (VH100R & GH50L)

  • powerfull sound ! GREAT

  • Prachtig! Emoties

  • hopefully related!!

  • Veeery goooood !!!!! :-)

  • es algo parecido a steve vai ...nice

  • This guy is amazing, he played at our school 1 day and it was great. he's realy underrated indeed.. he should be with the top players of the world.

  • he's really great

    reminds me of satriani

  • marcel's band is joe satriani's tribute band you can check out marcel playing loads of satch tracks on you tube.

  • Lekker vriend: dit is top!!!

  • Deze gozer is verdomt netjes bezig! Ik vind wel dat hij het limburgs volkslied moet gaan shredden.

  • that sound awsome !

  • He looks like Kyle Gass with long hair.

  • just love the subtle special effects of the fan. u can't beat that

  • Respect voor Marcel! Een geweldige gitarist en componist.

  • marcel is absolutely amazing, and so underrated.

  • better melodies than Vai

  • lydian scale sounds so lovely and soft, so great

  • very good song and performance, but too much artificial harmonics for my taste

  • fuck you can you do it better?

  • How is it horrible dude.......

    I think it's amazing!

  • excelent jobbbb

  • top !

  • I can clearly see and hear who is your inspiration as a guitarist. Steve Vai for sure.

The sound and the wind in the hair.. That's steve for ya!'

  • Yeah, maybe a little Satch too.

  • its a steve vai signiture bsb jem

  • shawn lane

  • @Zolantor True. Also the same guitar.

  • @Zolantor Yeah, he just needs to get a bigger fan now, then he'll be just like him xD.

  • @Zolantor Well, he actually has a lot of influences. Search this: "Marcel Coenen Dutch Anthem". You'll see him play the Dutch National anthem metalized, with a lot of MAB influences, yet some Steve Vai influences come through as well.

  • @Zolantor Don't forget the Ibanez with the handgrip:)

  • great song!!!

  • I love this song,

marcel is a great guitarist !

  • Great piece, no question about that...

But the wind in the hair was just too much

  • The intro sounds a little bit like whispering a prayer.

  • nice balding

  • Is he Dutch? He has a Dutch accent...

If he is, Im proud to be a dutchman!

    FUCKING MARCEL COENEN!

  • He's from Limburg town called Sittard

  • das in de buurt :-) ( Born)

  • he is ;)

  • wow he's better than susan boyle!

  • look out steve vai!

  • I like the combination of pinch harmonics and the things he does with the whammy bar, He put so much feel into it :/

  • Or should I say, one of the best. Why did I get thumbs down for asking about gettin' tabs for this?

  • He puts so much feeling into this. This guys the best.

  • 2 words ; fucking amazing :D

  • Coole shit... vette sound.

Maar dat overhemd kan ECHT niet :p

  • I prefer this to the shredding, shesh I cant touch the wammy bar, I cant even run the neck, Im more of a box bender, but I have to say my favorite from Mr. Coenen is Inner Alchemy.

  • Oh my god, some parts make my body shiver =D

Like 4:19 and 3:39 Holy fuck I love it.

  • absolutely beautiful. no words.

  • As unique as Mr. Vai, with a touch of shredding.

  • reminds me of vai too.

  • Definatley an underrated guitarist

  • he is one of the best guitarists i have ever seen

  • dude u r better than satriani

  • Has some feeling to it. I love it.

  • Some people are just assholes like that.. =/

  • whats the harm in being influenced by greats such as Satch and Vai?

I think more people should be doing what Marcel is doing instead of listening to commercialized rubbish

  • Marcel is AWESOME!!!!

  • Good intervals, doesn't sound crappy like Steve Vai's with a yoningly boring, long-ass solo to put us to sleep. I love those arpeggios sounds neo-classical.

  • Guitarboy this song has some Vai-ish flavor, especially in the intro, but the phrasing is pure Marcel.

  • goooood job!!!!

  • goosebumps

  • I love minute 0:00 until 5:29

  • zomg me too!!

  • he's just as good as all the top 10 world guitarists in my opinion, just not as famous as they are.

  • i wonder where he got his inspriration for this song ..special the intro ... still great song ... i wonder who knows who im on about :P:P

  • It's a great song, he shouldn't have put as many high pitch pinches in there though - wouldn't exactly say it ruins the entire "niceness" of the song.

I just think it'd be that bit nicer without so many pinch harmonics. Especially at the start, a nice slow intro and he throws a pinch and it takes away the kinda groove he's got going on.

I love the bit at 3:39 till 3:49 - simply beautiful, it sounds like he improvises after though :S.

All in all, good piece, too many pinches though :D.

    Daz

  • thats not a pinch at the start you cretin, its a divebomb, and it sounds fuckin mint

  • It's actually a pinch, which is dove lol. I never said it didn't sound mint haha. It's good, just too many pinches originally.

  • pinch? no natural harmonic? and sorry for the late reponse lol

  • Anyone knows what scales he uses? Sorry forgot to ask when he was at our school

  • Now it says -2 :D

  • now minus 5 for some reason :S people are takin the piss now obviousl, but in answer to your question, i think once youve mastered many techniques and know much theory about guitar, i guess an hour a day (he wont play just an hour EVERY day mind) is probably enough to maintain what you have, and still improve

  • He is a great guitar player, I bought his album a few years ago.

That gay fuck Jonas Brothers can NEVER play like this
