Further factoid(s) about this: the scenes at the beginning were shot at LAX but the airport people (!) wouldn't allow them to film so the crew had to somehow distract them...hence why Susan's phone call is even more rushed...plus Stockard Channing improvised the whole thing! Much of the show was improvised, and you can totally tell. Just noticed: 'ADULT BOOKS'. Haha! Plus...how on earth can she park that beautiful motor right outside a gym in Beverly Hills? Surely she'd hv2 trail to a car park?
Thanks for posting this, it's so cute! lol...Gotta love the 70s..the clothes, the hair, the phrases..what an era! :P Stockard is gorgeous in this series too, wow!
Thanks for the upload! Been looking for this for ages!!! I heart you!
...Oh, and is it just me or does anyone else find it amusing that 'Susan' would have a BA in Slavic Languages when one of Stockard's ex-husbands was a professor of Slavic Languages? lol
Isn't it wonderful? You can buy the DVDs on amazon...I was a little unsure it would be too cheesy for my tastes but I find it makes me all warm inside!
It's all semi-autobiographical, made by Stockard and then husband David Debin's production company, 'Little Bear' (the name of their dog). SC's real name is 'Susan', she moved from Boston to LA (via New York!) and I reckon she did have bad credit after being separated. Probably drew the line at hot tub in the sitting room though!
Slavic languages bit...interesting as her ex was a professor in Slavic languages in real life.
OMG I love her cute embarrassed facial expressions, especially when she's talking (or not!) to that girl at the end. Oh, and her rolling along that tuna machine was hilarious!
And she's wearing the gold bracelet she appears to wear in EVERYTHING in that era.
Right, I've waffled on enough here. There'll be plenty more to come though!
OMG, the first time I saw this episode I was actually laughing OUT LOUD when she was talking to Coral and she wasn't really talking but Coral kept going on and on and then Stockard's facial expressions were priceless "me and my big mouth"
Yeah, that was such great comic timing on both their behalfs! Oh, and Stockard's face when he said "take your clothes off"! Just wanted to give her a cuddle!
Oh my lord, where do I begin??? That was just.....adorably funny! I can't tell you how great it is to see this!
After first viewing (I'm sure there'll be many more to come, hehe) here are my thoughts. It is so funky 70's. Man, I love that decade. I love the like, lettering of the titles. I'm a sucker for stuff like that, and the retro wallpaper.
I love Stockard's t-shirt and shorts combo. I'm guessing she was supposed to look a little staid at the beginning, for the reveal when she changed
"Good. Take off your clothes."
"I don't need that much money."
xDDD

Can you imagine being "just friends" with Stockard Channing?
I can't!

@WizardGlik OMG, YOU ARE SO RIGHT! How any straight fella could keep his hands off her is beyond me. I'm a straight female and I'd struggle, haha!

@jgrab1 It isn't Betty Hutton. It's Stockard Channing. Hope that wasn't too much of a surprise for you. :)
