Richard Branson: So, what's the plan for our unlimited calling publicitycampaign?
Executive #1: Well, get this: We want to have a commercial where a woman in a locker room takes off her lips, and sets them down next to her phone, all while she prattles on about having some sort of disease. (beat) She probably has HPV or something.
How are people honestly offended by this? Its hilarious! Its not about being gross, its about the "my god, I cant believe this person is actually talking about this right here and now" factor. We've all had those moments when we hear somebody talking about something over their cell that maybe shouldn't be... ya know, TALKED ABOUT OF YOUR CELL.
If this is hilarious, you're seriously easily amused. There's more to humour than relativity and recognition factor. It's a simplistic gag -the awkward evesdrop- done in the crudest (crude low-quality, not crude offensive) style. It's the same thing American's so often don't understand about the sit-coms they make. A round table of writers, putting dialogue in the mouths of people who aren't funny to begin with, and smearing a laugh track over it, is not funny.
Didn't Virgin and the ad company that came up with these commercials realize that all these commercials look like a talking vagina with teeth? It is very gross. I'm just waitng for the one when a man takes his mouth off and he has a goatee...
She's definitely not looking at the phone like that because of the mouth next to it. It's definitely the venereal disease being discussed that's making her uncomfortable lmaoo
And we need to reference some unholy feminine disorder to sell a cell phone? I'm always one for a good raunchy joke, but this crosses waaaaaay too many boundaries. Absolutely disgusting!

One of the million American sit-coms is Curb Your Enthusiasm, however.
So while they bombard the airwaves with bullshit. In that stream out pops sheer genius. Yay for quantity yielding quality.
Larry David talking over a cell-piece ear-piece abuser in a restaurant. Now that shit, is funny.
