The education of your children means SO much more than perfect attendance in government schools. There is no 'education' so grand as living a real and varied life. The academics are there to enhance this life, not a substitute for it. Your children will be spectacular for it. Also, you are teaching them to live while they still have a lifetime ahead of them, not like my wife and myself who are only figuring this out toward the latter half. Having done the same trip 12 years ago and putting "normal" life on hold for a couple of years we regret none of it - even the small amount of bad weather - Can't wait to retire and do it again.
